four wheel escape

Hi, my name is Brayan Flores but i go by rowan. i was born in the city of Newport beach but shortly moved to azusa California. just like many others i didn't know my dad but lets get back on track, im not entirely sure when it was i touched a skateboard but i have a specific memory when i was 8 at a friends birthday party, my friends brother was older and had left his board out back where i stumbled upon it. im not sure what i did but i just remember seeing a ramp and a board and thought lets do this, fast forward im still in grade school i decide to buy a board and ramp it was some plastic crappy ramp that you were supposed to screw into the ground but yeah i didn't get the memo, some kids must've seen me on my skateboard because i remember having two friends who taught me what a manual and an old school kick flip was those were my skating roots, a skate shop named bruisers opened up in my small town and thats when i really got to see what i thought were real skaters these were like gods to me at the time id come by just to hang out with them sadly the shop didn't last too long and my friends grew up i was still in like 6th grade so for the next 3 years my life had consisted of video games and junk food. it wasn't till high school where i was in the same place as 2000 other students were thats when i noticed i missed skating i saw people carrying their boards and just kinda thought that could've been me so i bought my first actual skateboard, plan b deck, thunder trucks, reds bearings, indie hardware, and grizzly grip. my entire freshman year i couldn't land an Ollie to save my life but also i didn't really commit until the summer 2014 summer school people didn't like me in regular school but here i felt so welcomed it was like the best time of my life i did drugs for the first time people were actually talking to me and i met a guy who would influence my skating career forever, Adrian he actually knew how to do stuff he was the first person who invited me over to their house in high school his dad scared the shit outta me but it was awesome we would go on to skate together that entire summer and i actually landed an Ollie, i know its not a laser flip but i was so stoked sadly i would go on to lose it simply because my sophomore year i spent more time focused on girls rather than skating anyway junior year i met people from all over who skated and even had my own little group of friends, angel who we call bagel, and Moses. these two would become the reason im still at it today i went on to learn shuvs, pop shuvs, all the power slides 50\50, and improving the stuff i already got but i wanted more i had only landed one kick flip in my life but ate it hard after, i noticed between me and the other guys the biggest issue as to why we weren't where we wanted to be yet is commitment and fear but the day i said fuck it was the day i started seeing some real improvement, skating has always been in my life today its my only escape i highly recommend it to anyone regardless of who you are its not just about the activity itself its about the journey the people and hey you might just find life is much more than a piece of paper handed to you with your name on it, its whatever you want it to be, im brayan Flores and i plan on really getting somewhere with skating i love the journey ive had so far i cant wait to see where it'll take me next
