From The Roanoke Times: I believe over the past several years, we’ve laid the foundation for Danville’s future. Do we still have challenges? Absolutely. We have a long way to go, in some regards, to get to where we truly want to be, but I believe the progress we’ve seen in the past decade will pay dividends in Danville for decades to come.

Danville City Councilman Lee Vogler is proposing a restructure of the tax rates for data centers.
Data centers are where companies like Facebook or Microsoft uses to store information.
Volger adds that Danville's strong infrastructure, low cost of doing business and Danville's Community College's cyber security program makes the city the perfect host.
Councilman Volger explained lowering the tax rate would be an additional way to bring businesses and jobs to the area.
"Not only do they hire people and they generate a lot of revenue, but they get active in the community. They try to really get involved in communities, so we think it would be a great thing to bring here to our region," he said.
Reducing the tax rate on data centers will not cost any revenue since there are currently no data centers in Danville.
