Ancient Purebreeds are the product of angels and humans. Most of them are many thousands of years old, and most of the original Ancient Purebreeds are still alive. They are the only of the two ancient breeds (Ancient Purebreeds and Fallen) who can reproduce, and their reproductive functions are the same as those of modern Purebreeds (needing a serum to support a uterus). The main distinction between Ancient Purebreeds and their descendants is that they are more powerful (can use the same powers to a greater extent) and are held higher in society. Many serve on the high courts along with Fallen, and generally hold positions of greater importance. Purebreeds are the most common type of demon, making up 70-80% of Hell’s population. Purebreds are the product of two demons and are the only species which can support humanoid reproductive anatomy. Any purebreed can support fully functional male anatomy at any time (thus how they can reproduce with humans), but they require a special serum to support a functional uterus. This serum is made from rain collected from three specific places on the earth, colloquially known as God’s Tears, though this is not accurate and God does not cry. Because this serum is required for pregnancy, one demon’s mother could be their sibling’s father. They can have a range of features including wings, various types of tails, human or inhuman legs, and sometimes even more beastly bodies. All of them have horns, the ability to shapeshift, and superhuman strength. Halfbreeds are the offspring of Humans and Demons, a very unholy and strictly illegal union. Being a physical expression of sin, they are detested by Angels and Demons alike. They are not allowed into Hell, and they roam the earth searching for purpose. They cannot manifest tangible forms, but they are the only type of Demon capable of demonic possession. God created all angels, and It created some specifically to rebel against It. This planned and anticipated series of rebellions served two purposes; to banish rebels to be the rulers of hell, and as a show of God’s power to It’s subjects. Had It created Demons to be the keepers of hell, they may have grown to resent It and lash out. Creating them as angels and banishing them allowed God to keep them as partners in business. Additionally, God found the idea of planting evil in pure and good beings more entertaining. The Fallen rule the high courts of Hell along side a select few high ranking Ancient Purebreds.
