well algorithms and generative ai are a bit different, algorithms work off tags and ID (if you like something tagged #dog it'll give you more things with #dog for example) but ai is like... a more intensive and less accurate text predictor. it just generated what it thinks should come next in a sequence basically, and I understand why people don't like it. but they choose to nitpick ai art and video and such but not chatbots since they have a profile pic of a character they like and turn on them on. I dunno just wanted to say. but I do agree people use double standards all the time and the worst part is they never care to self reflect and realise it

The double standard is crazy sometimes. I get why ai is bad, 100%. BUT I would never say that I am “anti ai” because I KNOW I use chat bots (but never ChatGPT!! that’s the worst one!) so that would contract the entire thing I’m trying to say, if I’m telling people they shouldn’t use ai when I do myself. Google and social media algorithms (like TikTok and Instagram) have used ai and computer generated numbers for YEARS to run their apps, and to put content they think you’d enjoy onto your feed, and this isn’t new knowledge either. So for someone to say they shouldn’t be using ai but continue to fall victim to their algorithm baffles me. (There’s absolutely nothing wrong with using those apps and there’s nothing wrong with the artificial intelligence used behind them) it just shows that people will always have exceptions to their morales when it’s convenient to them (myself included, no one’s perfect)

I have no problem with anything people say about anything really. I just think the problem I do have however is people not practicing what they preach but then holding others accountable for actions that they “have moral issues on” but they themselves don’t do anything about said moral issues (like preaching about the war in Gaza but continuing to give money to the huge corporations that send aid to the oppressors). It’s truly a double standard but maybe that’s just me.

Not to get political or anything but: Isn’t it so funny when someone gives you shit for using Duolingo to lean a new language, because it “uses ai”, yet the majority of their food intake consists of paying for huge American fast food companies to continue sending funds, aid and weapons to Israel so they can continue killing and bombing innocent children and families and committing the biggest genocide of the last 10 years…
