I finally drew the himbo elf boy! That is of course Sir Barely Lightfoot!

Now this was my VERY first time drawing him and I like how he looks! there are a couple of things I can improve on such as making his eyes shape a little bit smaller and whatnot. But even then I had SO much drawing him and I can’t wait to draw him in the future! 😁

Ok, real talk: I could have sworn during the very early reveal of the trailer for Pixar’s Onward that this movie poster had Barley doing the devil-horns rocker gesture with his right hand instead of this soda.

Like I remember for a while it made sense because he’s a metal head. Until I noticed maybe a few weeks after they replaced it with a soda in his hand. I was like questioning myself, “wait, wasn’t he doing something else?”

My only conclusion would be that Pixar decided to scrape off the devil-horn gesture because it might offend many parents and they would not let their kids watch this film. So I tried to retrace my steps everywhere on the internet of the original Barley gesture, but it seems it has been erased from the face of the earth.

Or, maybe it never existed and it was just my imagination 🤔

Today marks four years since the release of ONWARD, a wonderful Pixar film.

I discovered the film two years ago, and from the first time I saw it to this day, it continues to excite me. ONWARD, for me, is a work of art and I highly recommend it to everyone. It's one of my favorite films; emotional, fun, with wonderful effects and designs, and it's message is very profound.

I am so grateful to all the people behind ONWARD for creating it. And also because they gave us one of the BEST characters, Barley. I love that boy with all my heart.

Happy 4th anniversary, ONWARD.

Adding my 2 cents: I know Barley would be greatly devastated if he witnessed the death of his little brother. Furthermore, it would hurt Barley so deeply because he encouraged Ian to trust in himself when walking across the deadly chasm.

Barley experiencing two deaths of his family members would break his big heart that I wouldn’t ever want to think how he would feel about himself afterwards.

Quick question:

You know the invisible bridge scene in Onward where Ian had to create it to get to that lever on the other side? And you know how the rope ties to his waist untangled by accident? And do you for sure remember how Barley became scared out of his mind thinking that he was going to lose his little brother to a forever deep chasm?

Well, I do. And here’s a thought: did anyone ever stop to consider that Barley was afraid of losing Ian like he lost his father in the past?

I mean, yeah Barley started crying because he loves his little brother Ian and doesn’t want anything bad to befall him. But I can’t help but think that Barley thought he was going to lose the only good thing to come out of his childhood tragedy.

BARLEY LITERALLY COULD NOT STAND TO SEE THE ONLY PERSON HE LOVED FROM DAY ONE SINCE HIS FATHER’S DEATH.

He’d already lost his dad, and now he was going to lose his little brother too. I mean, I know he didn’t, but I now feel like I want to hold Barley and wipe his tears away every time I watch that scene.

AND LITERALLY THE WAY HE FALLS TO HIS KNEES IN SWEET RELIEF. MAN I LOVE HIM SO FUCKING MUCH

OK but like……… the fact that Barley is so anxious here but immediately switches to confident when Ian looks at him is killing me
