y’all ever think about how in verdant wind, the route where the lord is determined to find out the truth about the world, and in fact does discover like 90% of it, the greatest thing claude REALLY uncovers is that he can trust and rely on other people? in white clouds it takes him ages to trust byleth and his friends, because he’s used to being the only person he can count on not to hurt him. and in crimson flower, he assumes hilda and judith will turn tail and flee, because what reason do they have to die for him?- but they don’t, and he’s devastated, because he learns too late that there are people in fodlan, and likely everywhere, who like and and believe in him. but in verdant wind, where byleth extends him their hand, and the golden deer are with him every step of the way, he learns this in time. he learns that there are people he can trust and rely on. that there’s a group of people he can ask to follow him into a seemingly hopeless war against a more powerful force, and they will, they’ll come with him, because they fully believe he and byleth can succeed. they trust him, and he trusts them. 

he learns about the agarthans, the nabateans, the goddess, nemesis… but the most important thing he learns is to believe in other people.
