Less Waste Lifestyle: Coffee Time
I will admit to being one of those people who NEEDS there morning coffee on weekdays. They way I see it weekday coffee is medicinal, while weekend coffee is recreational.
Needless to say I drink a lot of coffee. Since I drink my coffee at home, I generally use one of our MANY mugs. When I go out I have several reusable coffee tumblers so my footprint there is pretty small.
But I do own a Keurig.…

Challenge Accepted: Attempting A Less Waste Lifestyle
So we all know the environment is in trouble. That’s not a secret. Climate change, the ridiculous amount of waste being produced, insects and animals dying off in alarming rates. The world is just a mess. It’s all a bit overwhelming. So the real question is, what do we do about it?

Challenge Accepted: Sweating For My Sister’s Wedding
Challenge Accepted: Sweating For My Sister’s Wedding
As anyone who follows me on any of my social media knows, one of my best friends/sorority sisters got engaged this past fall. I have long been trying to live a healthier lifestyle, as pawing through back posts will show, but I am now hoping the fact that I need to appear in a bridesmaids dress at a black tie wedding in October, will help kick my ass in gear. I decided to document some of my…

Adventuring: New Jersey Devils West Coast Hockey Tour Day One
Adventuring: New Jersey Devils West Coast Hockey Tour Day One
It’s no secret a majority of my family are serious hockey fans. I grew up five minutes away from Nassau Coliseum, the original home of The New York Islanders, and going to hockey games were a regular affair. The Husbandicoot, and his family are from New Jersey and he grew up a Devils fan. I am a lover of all things hockey, and although my heart will always belong to the Boys in blue and orange, I…

Rise Up: Gun Control
So I planned to use this week to do some fun adventuring recap posts about parades and hockey and holidays and book reactions, and they are coming, but this weekend was the March for Our Lives and I couldn’t stay quiet. I apologize in advance for the following rant, but I am FURIOUS. (more…)

It’s been awhile since I’ve done a round up, and since this weekend was full busy-ment, I felt it was high time to do one.
FRIDAY
Tumblr media
Luci Fur snuggled on the aftermath
Woke up to snow, because of course there’s crazy weather on the weekend my family is supposed come up. The Husbandicoot was working from home due to the weather, so I basically attempted to stay out of his way. I got up, did about 45 minutes on the bike and put together a decently healthy breakfast.
Tumblr media
I swear there’s Greek yogurt under all that.
Around 2pm, we bundled up and headed out to shovel, despite the fact that it was still coming down. Whenever it’s snowing is one of the few times I wish I lived in an apartment. Our house has A LOT of sidewalk.
We spent the rest of the night relaxing, and watching Community. Honestly, I’d forgotten how much I LOVED that show. At it’s peak, it was SO GOOD! I did a tiny bit of prep and turned in earlish, planning to get up early.
SATURDAY
Woke up ridiculously early for a weekend and headed outside to shovel. Not my fave way to start a day but effective. Came in, showered and started prep work for the day.
The Husbandicoot wasn’t feeling too well, so he slept in a bit later. One thing about us is that if you come to our house you will NEVER LEAVE HUNGRY. We tend to go a little over board some times. For example for 6 adults and 3 kids we had, a bread bowl, assorted meats, cheeses and crackers, chips and dip, taco dip with tortilla chips, jelly beans and java nut M&Ms. and that was just the appetizers.
It’s always nice to have my family around. I adore my nieces, and my nephew is growing on me. I only wish our house was just a little bit bigger. It’s a little cramped with so many people in one room. This perfectly illustrates why we tend to host get togethers in the summer where we can utilize our HUGE yard. Still it was nice to get everyone together, and I really do love entertaining.
After a tragic end to the hockey game, I packed up some essentials and hopped in the car with my parents to head to their house for the night.
SUNDAY
Woke up early at my parents to join them for breakfast, before they headed out for their pedicures. My dad went out to pick up scones and bagels from Panera. They have a tendency to spoil me a little when I’m home.
After breakfast I did some cleaning, and got dressed. The main reason I was out on the island was because I was meeting up with some old friends to see Cruel Intentions The Musical. I know, I know what haven’t they made into a musical.
Tumblr media
Vix and Jerri has already seen the show and Vix was convinced I would love it. We went down to the village, on Bleecker were the show was playing. It was a bit odd because it was in a club, Le Poisson Rouge, and we didn’t have tickets, they just wristbanded you. There were also no playbills, cast information was projected up on two screens on the stage. It was a kind of general admission as since the table seats had a two food or drink minimum we arrived early, got a table all to ourselves and ordered lunch.
Tumblr media
We all ended up ordering a fancy BLT, and a specialty cocktail called Bittersweet Symphony, which involved prosseco and was delicious.
The show started and Vixie once again proves that even after all these years she knows the way to my heart. The show, which had the storyline of the movie Cruel Intentions, sandwiched in a TON of late 90’s/early 200’s music. Boy bands, and Britney, Meredith Brooks and Melissa Etheredge? I was in absolute heaven.
Life and jobs have taken me out of the theatre scene which used to be my home for so long that for the first time in a long time I went into a show not really recognizing any of the actors. Which was weird for me. They were all super talented though and Constantine Rousouli, the actor playing Sebastian, the Ryan Phillippe, role was SPOT ON. However, the mic was doing something weird and making it sound like he had a bit of a lisp. Oops.
Tumblr media
After another glass of wine, and the show, the three of us walked a couple stores over to World’s Best Cookie Dough, which we saw on our way over. Apparently they had just opened up,much to my delight. Apparently we were still in triple mode we all ordered cookies and cream cookie dough.
Tumblr media
It was SO GOOD! Apparently you could also bring the dough home and bake it into actual cookies. Which I guess is cool, but toats beats the purpose of you ask me. I also found out that they also make milkshakes, I have NO IDEA how that works, but hey, now I am super curious to give one a try.
After getting our cookie dough we headed back to Penn and went out separate ways.
All and all it was a great weekend full of family and friends.
Questions for you:
1) What’s your fave decade of music?
2) Do you prefer to throw or go to get togethers? Or not go at all?
3) What’s your favorite flavor cookie?
Weekend Round Up: March 2nd – 4th, 2018 It's been awhile since I've done a round up, and since this weekend was full busy-ment, I felt it was high time to do one.

Lit Girl Corner: The Princess Diarist
Lit Girl Corner: The Princess Diarist
It’s no secret, I have always admired Carrie Fisher, not just as a fan of Star Wars, but as a human being. She was a take no prisoners kind of lady, which I’ve always found incredibly important. I recently downloaded an app that allows you to download ebooks, and more importantly audiobooks from your local library. I had originally downloaded it to get a copy of the audiobook of Ready Player One.…

Lit Girl Corner: The Epic Adventures of Lydia Bennet
Lit Girl Corner: The Epic Adventures of Lydia Bennet
Back in the day I was OBSESSED with The Lizzie Bennet Diaries. I’m talking reaction posts to each new episode on the blog I had at the time, as well as fanfic and other such signs of devotion. I’ve always loved Pride and Prejudice, and pretty much any version of, so this adorable webseries was right up my ally. I also always loved, the way they handle the character of Lydia Bennet. Jane Austen…

Lit Girl Corner: Family Don’t End with Blood
Lit Girl Corner: Family Don’t End with Blood
I am a big Supernatural fan, part of what I love about the show, aside from the fantastical, yet some how extremely relatable storylines, and the more than a little easy on the eyes casting, is the community. Or rather the feel of the community that surrounds the show. You can tell that the cast and crew love what they do, and each other, and aside for a small sect, the fandom has always been…

Lit Girl Corner: The Green Mile
Lit Girl Corner: The Green Mile
In January, the monthly nerd themed burlesque group, Hotsy Totsy Burlesque, did a Stephen King themed show. It then occurred to me that I had never read a Stephen King novel. I’d seen several of the movies, but never actually read any of his work. This seemed silly and so I set out to remedy this immediately. I turned to the Fantastical Leslie, my go to gal for book recommendations/borrows, who…

Lit Girl Corner: Renegades
Just finished Renegades by Marissa Meyer. Check out my thoughts, but be warned, there are Spoilers Sweeties. 😘
It’s February, which means I have a whole new TBR to dig through. I was really looking forward to this first read of this month. I first found out about Renegades by Marissa Meyer at New York Comic Con this past October. They were giving out free copies of the first five chapters. Of course, I didn’t actually read it and mostly forgot about it until I saw it being talked about right before it’s…

Donald Trump has officially completed one full year as president, and holy moly what a year it’s been. You probably don’t even remember how much stuff really happened in the last year because mentally it’s felt like 20.
There are things we never imagined could happen during an American presidency. Remember “covfefe,” or when Trump indirectly called a nuclear weapon-wielding foreign dictator “short and fat,” or when Melania swatted his hand away, or when it was reported that the president needed daily briefings with a lot of pictures?
There’s no better indicator of the bizarre day-to-day developments of President Trump’s first year in office than reading the wonderful chyrons, the headline captions you see at the bottom of your screen during a news broadcast.
So rather than attempt to describe the past year, we picked out some of the best chyrons to illustrate just what a Twilight Zone-esque 365 days we’ve had.
