as an avid history, alamo, and texas history lover—i really hope people don’t think this of me sometimes (hence why im making this post)

i love the place, the history behind it, how interesting some of the texians and tejanos are…but it wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows. everything above is true—it’s amazing how many people don’t know the truth. a good chunk of the reason any settlers were fighting in the first place was because they wanted new land that wasn’t theirs, then got upset when they couldn’t ruin the land they wanted.

the mexican government had very few, easy rules for the settlers to follow, anyways—and they ignored half of them. when it became too much and they told them to stop, of course, they didn’t. if you’ve heard of jim bowie, you’d know that he was big into the slave trading business—and he did most of his work in texas, where it was supposed to be illegal.

the only reason the texians won texas in the first place was because santa anna was a coward and ran away during san jacinto, then got caught and in exchange for his life he gave up texas.

so, yes, while i know a lot of content and my own is centered around random bullshit and shitposts on alamo defenders and the alamo, and a lot of texas history—don’t forget the real reasoning behind all of this
