Ten Years Ago - The Earth Passport Story: On October 10th, 2010, Liquid Blue was awarded a Guinness World Record. It was the band's 2nd official world record in two years. This one was for "Hit Song Sung in the Most Languages" (Earth Passport), and the other was for "World's Most Traveled Band." By the time we entered the recording studio in 2009 to record Earth Passport, the band had already traveled to over 100 countries. We set out to put our "one-world" perspective into a simple song that we hoped would have universal appeal. Once we had the track complete, we contacted vocalists that we had met touring in other countries and asked each of them to record a verse, or even just a single line of the song, in their native language. Our goal was to include all six official United Nations languages, and we ended up with nine in total. None of us had any idea that this would turn into a world record, surpassing Madonna's little know record. Below is the list of nine languages included, in order, in Earth Passport: English Arabic Hindi Mandarin French Tagalog German Spanish Russian In September of 2010, the song rose all the way to number three on the US Billboard Hot Dance Singles Chart, and a month later, the Guinness World Record followed. Had it not been a hit song, it would not have qualified as there are many non-hits in which artists have recorded even more languages. Officially, the world record title is "The song sung in the most languages that charted on Billboard." Earth Passport was dedicated to the proposed US Department of Peace. The United Nations invited Liquid Blue to perform our new single at the UN Headquarters General Assembly in New York City, but it never occurred due to extenuating circumstances. Earth Passport was a Finalist in the Peacedriven Songwriting Awards in 2009 and was nominated in the World Category at the 2009 Hollywood Music in Media Awards as well as a 2010 Posi Award.
