Winx College AU pt. 2

You thought I was done with the College AU brainrot? WRONG.

Anyway, moving on to the Specialists.

The usual disclaimer: This is based on absolutely nothing from the original lore. If you’re wondering why a certain character has a certain major, it’s because the voices told me so (I admit, though—I did try to make it make a little sense).

Sky: A junior and Political Science major. The child of diplomats, he grew up living in at least three different countries, and now that he’s in college, he’s finally enjoying some stability. Splits his time between studying, having a social life and being part of Pi Sigma Alpha, the National Political Science Honor Society. Lives alone off-campus.

Brandon: A junior from the West Coast, though he always finds a way to mention his Greek ancestry (he does not speak Greek, nor has he ever been to Greece). Sports Management major and student athlete—a Wide Receiver for the school’s D1 Football team, attending on a full-ride scholarship. Lives in his fraternity house on campus. Has been dating Stella since freshman year; their friends call them Mom and Dad and are fully convinced a proposal is coming right after graduation.

Riven: A sophomore originally from the Midwest, shares a dorm with his childhood friend Timmy. Finance major for the grind, Physics minor for the soul. Surprisingly good at explaining complex concepts, which earned him a Teaching Assistant position for a physics course he’d previously taken—though it only happened after his professor found out he needed the money. While he's effective as a tutor, he has little patience for students who aren’t there to actually learn. Treats his tutoring sessions like preworkout and heads to the gym right after to take the steam off.

Timmy: A sophomore, majors in engineering. Practically lives in the lab and has little time for anything outside of studying. He has no interest for any social life, and if dragged to a party, is deeply and visibly miserable. While he knows plenty of people through his department, he can count his real friends on one hand—Riven being one of them.

Helia: A sophomore transfer student majoring in Peace & Justice Studies and an athlete on the school's D1 Fencing Team. He keeps to himself and rarely reveals much about his personal life, which only fuels the mystery around him. One rumor claims he’s related to the university president, though no one can agree on how.

Nabu: A senior who attends a different university, is in long-distance relationship with Layla. Everyone has seen pictures of him on her socials, but very few people have actually met him in person.

charles's newfound understanding that edwin is not only gay (available) but actively interested in him vs. charles's genuine and reciprocated care for/interest in crystal, i can really see him turning to her as a proxy to work out his conflicting affections in a way that would piss her off. likewise crystal's recent escape from an abusive relationship causing intimacy issues vs. that same trauma causing an overwhelming need to assert her own autonomy, i can see her leaning into a romantic relationship with charles as a coping mechanism in a way that damages both of their self-esteem. i could see them both going hot/cold on each other without warning as these competing needs clash.

Crystal Palace and the Cat King (Non-Binary Crystal)

And then your body is literally stolen out from underneath of you. It becomes the hollow that it is always felt like. You are worn like the very clothing that you once tried to use to feel like someone real.

You chase feeling after that. Chase sensation. Chase anything that can make you feel real, make you feel like you're in your own body and not some shell that was stolen by someone else and made into something that you're not.

But when have you ever not been a hollow, trying to chase some semblance of identity? Some semblance of community, of reality, of anything that can feel like home?

There's something that itches beneath your skin. Something that is girl not girl not person not ghost not alive not dead not here nor there nor anywhere at all.

What within Crystal Palace is not made of glass? What within Crystal Palace cannot be seen through, because there is nothing that you put in there yourself?

Except, well, there is something. You dyed your hair.

It's such a small thing. Such a small claim to identity. The color of rubies, the color of poppies, the color of blood. The color of that precious liquid which you have had to scrape for with acrylic nails and had to clean out of underwear with no one save the ghosts in your head to care enough to teach you how to take care of yourself.

But it's yours.

dead boy detectives season 2 probably would have had charles and crystal trying a relationship charles who is happy he is he cares for crystal but he cant help the guilt of feeling like hes betraying edwin in someway and edwin had been fine when he asked if he could try again with crystal said he didnt need edwins permisson to be with someone simply cause of edwins feelings he just wants charles happy but its doesn't ease the feeling

and crystal would find that yes she does care for charles she isnt in love with him and she simply still needs time to establish this new her and forgive the past her while trying to juggle her alive life and helping solve cases with them

so after a few dates a another kiss to truly see if there is anything more than just friends they decide there isn't

I think it's super sad how few ‘magical creatures’ there are in Winx apart from fairies, pixies and witches, or how little they are used. The teachers are diverse, and I really like that. But I just wish that it could've been explored a bit more.

Especially talking about planets and their inhabitants. I am not sure if it's still in my drafts or if I ever posted how I would like for them to be more unique in their appearance, and perhaps have special traits/marks/whatever.

Anyway, I think the best way would've been to use the specialists to showcase different magical beings/species. Let's talk about it.

Helia, you beautiful man. I saw fairy Helia already and believe it's not a novel concept but it's an amazing one, especially considering we meet no male fairy but see them on Domino / Sparx (if I remember it correctly...?). He could be a fairy of creation! Similar to Flora and her natural powers, while maintaining his artistic spirit. It would even be funnier if Saladin was a fairy too but still is the headmaster of the Red Fountain.

Alternatively, Helia could be an elf. Young Saladin resembles Palladium a bit and Helia has these typical male elf features if we are honest. He would be connected to magic still. Potentially be a Wood or High Elf!

Last but not least: A merman. I think it's the long hair mainly but I think he just fits the vibe of a mythical creature with a connection to nature.

Riven, my prince of darkness. My first thought is and always will be that he could've been a vampire. It's basic but vampires are iconic and could pair so well with Darcy - mental manipulation, dark powers, control of the shadows. I do not fuck with Winx vampires though. I have not a favourite vampire system but you best believe he gets the advantages while having no disadvantages.

One could object that vampires do not really fit the aesthetic and vibe of Winx. I agree. Riven could be a wizard too or have magical powers fitting the vibe of an arcane trickster. But even better would be something draconic. He got that temper, the vibe and could have his own fiery powers.

Sky, literal king. One could have thought that Riven would be a wizard but no, it's Sky! Listen, I think Eraklyon hates witches and had their own trials and such. What would be more shocking than their own prince being a wizard! Wizard would mean the male version of witch here. Erendor seems like the type to have an affair or Samara is a secret witch! The potential...

It also adds spice to Bloom's and Sky's relationship, seeing that wizards hunted Earth Fairies, which Bloom could qualify as. Like not really but maybe yes. It's complicated.

I do not see Sky as something else except maybe a werewolf as the contrast to Riven's vampire but again, werewolves do not really fit the vibe - do they?

Brandon, the knight in shining armour. To be honest, I do not see Brandon being anything else than "human". Maybe a Paladin? He could even be a winged one like Avalon. The wings could be foldable.

If Sky were a werewolf, Brandon would be one too. They seem like two boys who play as pups and then grow up to be pack leaders or something.

I really love Brandon and I hope nobody thinks I gave him no thought because I did. I just really like him as he is and there was no mythical creature that I would need to see in the Winx.

Timmy, a cutiepatootie.

Aside from Helia, I could also see Timmy being a fey-like creature, for example fairy, elf, leprechaun. First, I thought of a dwarf though. They are commonly presented as skilled craftsmen. He doesn't fit the look of a stereotypical dwarf though and I am not talking height (smol king Timmy would rule), so he could be like the one breaking tradition: becoming a specialist, pursuing a fairy (from Zenith!) and such. From my point of view, Timmy could be an elf as well! It would be a great way to explore the difference between elves. I see him with magical powers and how he at first is clumsy with them but growing confident as person, he develops them more.

Nabu, our favourite alive husband. Strictly speaking, Nabu is not a specialist, but I will involve him anyway! He's a wizard, that's a fact. But he's also allowed to explore his possibilities. Obviously, of course: merman. He would still have magical powers, but he would also be a beautiful merman with a gorgeous tail.

Actually, I like him being a wizard very much. I just really would've loved to see mermen before Season 5.

I am thinking about writing something that could explore this but knowing me, I never publish it. Anyway, this is all just ranting and imagining. You can happily share your opinion or protest mine or whatever!

Winx College AU

Can I be annoying for a sec? A College Winx AU came to me in a dream, so now I’m legally obligated to yap about it on tumblr dot com.

18-year-old Bloom, an international student from Italy, gets accepted to a university in Massachusetts on a full-ride scholarship. The school is big, castle-like, and ancient-looking. There, despite her true enemies—introversion and awkwardness—she finds her place among the student body.

Bios for the Winx girls:

Bloom: A freshman from the boonies southwest of Milan. Shy, awkward, but kind and hardworking. She lives on campus and shares a suite with Flora, Musa, and Tecna. Majors in Graphic Design (it would’ve been Fine Arts, but her parents wanted her to pick something that could land her a job). The type who has to work twice as hard to get a mediocre grade—her weekly study time easily hits 40+ hours just to maintain a good GPA.

Stella: A junior originally from California. A popular sorority girl, she was assigned to be Bloom’s onboarding buddy. Majors in Communications—she switched from Finance midway through her sophomore year to keep up her sorority’s 3.0 GPA requirement. Stella’s not too concerned about her major anyway; her dad plans to hand her a branch of his company when she graduates. She just needed something that wouldn’t interfere with her free time or social life.

Flora: A freshman from somewhere on the West Coast and Bloom’s roommate. Timid but down for anything. She’s the type to have a private Instagram with just 100 or so followers—even though she’s gorgeous enough (and wealthy enough, thanks to generational money) to be an influencer. Majors in general Biology to keep her options open, but plans to add a more specialized minor later on based on what she’s passionate about.

Musa: A freshman, local to the college area but originally immigrated with her dad from China when she was too young to remember. An extrovert to her core—but God help you if you interrupt her while she’s practicing. Majors in Classical Performance. Shares a room with Tecna. She’s low-key popular on social media for posting videos of herself playing various instruments.

Tecna: A freshman by age, but a sophomore on paper due to already taking upper-level classes. She’s from New York City and double majors in Computer Science and Math. An introvert by choice, but capable of talking to anyone. Everything comes easily to her when she puts her mind to it, and people are often jealous of how effortlessly she seems to do... well, everything.

Layla: A sophomore, local to the area. Part of the Dance Team, so her social circle is mostly athletes and cheerleaders. A Marine Biology major—beauty and brains. She’s been scouted for modeling countless times but couldn’t care less.
