A reading for the week of 4/29/24—5/5/24:
Can you tell I woke Alfie up from a nap for this picture? 😂
The Two of Cups represents a joyful new relationship, connecting deeply with another person. As with all good relationships, it requires vulnerability and intimacy. Whether it lasts a long time or only a short one, you will learn something life-changing from this relationship. But remember to hold onto your individuality. A relationship requires two distinct people, not a single, co-dependent, merged self.
The High Priestess represents deep mysteries. All things subconscious, intuitive, secret, and magical are in her realm. The High Priestess often suggests exploring hidden parts of yourself, gaining creativity from your self-knowledge. Where the Two of Cups suggests a deep connection with someone else, the High Priestess is all about connecting with yourself. The card also recommends waiting before diving into anything new.
The Wheel of Fortune suggests a big, positive change is on its way into your life, bringing you closer to your true purpose. It's also a reminder that the nature of life is change, and this too shall pass. Whether positive or negative, we must learn to accept what comes, hold it loosely, and let it go when the time is right. You are on a journey, and this change is shaping you into who you are meant to be.
Together these cards suggest to me a period of learning and growth is coming. Some of this growth will come from connecting deeply with someone else. They might be a friend, lover, business partner, or anyone you can form a meaningful bond with. Other growth will come from delving into your own heart and head, and looking at the parts of yourself you tend to keep hidden. The Two of Cups reminds us to stay open to other people, not to close ourselves off. The High Priestess reminds us to retain our individuality. We are best able to love others when we understand ourselves and aren't afraid of the darkness we carry. The Wheel of Fortune asks us to remember that life is change, and these new period of discovery is important in helping us become more fully alive to our purpose.

The Magician is an intense but optimistic card. Part of the Major Arcana, it packs major power. It represents capability, energy, willpower, and making things happen. The Magician asks you to draw on all your strengths—your head, your heart, your gut, and your spirit—and bring them together to achieve your goals. The Magician is an auspicious card, suggesting you'll be successful in your endeavors.

The King of Swords represents fairness and justice, wisdom and counsel. It speaks to looking at an issue from all sides, and using a lifetime's worth of knowledge to solve problems. Sometimes the King of Swords' advice can seem intimidating or stern, but it's always trustworthy. The King of Swords might represent a person in your life, a situation, or qualities that you are called to embody. Put on your impartiality hat and make some wise, unemotional, ethical decisions.

The Three of Cups represents finding your people and reveling in their company. These aren't just any friends, and they're not necessarily family. They're the people you feel most yourself with, the people who love you for being your unique, specific self. The Three of Cups could represent relationships like this coming into your life, or taking the time to appreciate these relationships if you already have them. Spend some time together and bask in your gratitude for their presence in your life.

I love the Six of Wands, especially in this deck. Something about the imagery always makes me think of a plane's runaway at night, barrelling down it, getting ready to take off into the sky. I think that's sort of what the Six of Wands represents. There's the laurel wreath, which is a sign of victory, but there's also the message that you're not done yet, you've got farther to go. The Six of Wands represents victory, celebration, and external approval of your work. Let it boost your confidence, because other people like what you're doing. Then carry that confidence boost into your future work, because it isn't over yet!
Alfie apparently felt so successful with this card that he thought it was a sign to start barking at the front door. No one was there. But he was just excited to keep fulfilling his role as a barky little dog. Let the Six of Wands fill your sails in the same way. Be your truest self, because that's what you're meant to be. Just maybe don't bark so much quite so early in the morning. :)

Alfie is inspecting the cheapo birdhouses I got at Joann’s for a crafternoon with friends. He’s in charge of making sure no squirrels or chipmunks or mice have snuck into the house inside one of these.

Hi, how r u?
Are u doing tarot reading? Would love to have one
Thanks
Hey there!
I'm doing pretty well today—a friend stopped by to pick up a pair of sunglasses she left at my house, and Alfie went nuts. He loves her so much, probably because she treats him like a celebrity and this is what he thinks he deserves, lol. He's not wrong. Anyway, I'm contemplating taking a long walk later and/or going to Joann's to buy seasonal decor that's now 50% off. I love getting stupid crafty shit I don't need!
About readings, I'm not currently taking any new clients, but as soon as I open my books again, I will let you know. Reading for new folks is fun. :) Hope you're having a lovely Tuesday and that something makes you smile today!

The Chariot stands for forward momentum, but also balancing opposing forces. Success happens when we take two opposing forces within ourselves and bring them together, harnessing them to work in tandem. This means listening to both our head and our heart, listening to our compassionate side and our competitive side, listening to what we want in the short term and what we want in the long run. The Chariot tells us to take action, to move out of a standstill, but to do it while honoring our whole self.
Also, I just love that this was the middle card out of Alfie’s options. Talk about finding balance!

A reading for the week of 4/22/24—4/28/24:
The Three of Pentacles represents teamwork, mentorship, and approval of your work. It signifies early success and finding work that makes you happy. It speaks to committing to your work for the long-term, as it's a project that may take a while to come to completion, and asking for help when necessary.
The Ten of Wands represents the successful achievement of a goal after hard work, but also increased responsibility and burden. It is a reminder of how exhausting it is when we don’t ask for help. It's also a reminder that now that you've reached your goal, you're allowed to release it. Maybe you don't want these responsibilities anymore and it's time to try something new.
The Ten of Swords represents the completion of a different cycle. It speaks to hitting rock bottom, whatever that means to you. Complete, painful loss and endings, and often an ending you helped create. It asks you to look at your own actions and see what you could do differently next time. The good news about this card is that there's nowhere to go but up. Learn your lesson, heal, and move on.
Put together, I see these cards as a warning of what comes of trying to go it alone. We may be able to reach our goal without help, but it will be an exhausting, drawn out fight to get there, and we may end up so tired that we're not able to appreciate our success once we have it. The Three of Pentacles and the Ten of Wands both remind us that asking for help is not weakness. And the Ten of Wands is the "best case" scenario in this reading. The worst case is that we end up like the Ten of Swords, broken and utterly alone.
However, I also read this spread as a warning about choosing your collaborators and teachers carefully. Make sure their values align with yours and that you can work together well before you commit to anything big. The last thing you want is to think you have help, only for people to leave you in a lurch when you really need them. Don't jump into anything rashly and keep your long-term goal in mind.
Deck is Rider-Waite-Smith.

The Hierophant represents tradition, order, and systems. It speaks to knowledge you can only gain by adapting to the rules of a new institution or the norms of a new group. It may represent a mentor or teacher you are going to study with, or simply an organization that has knowledge you will have to work for. Quite often it represents higher education, but it might simple be a new class or hobby you're going to pick up. There's a lot of success potential here, but you'll have to put in time and effort to get what you want.
Tumblr media
The Nine of Wands represents the last push before successful work completion. It comes near the end of the suit of wands, meaning that you've been working on this for a while, and you're almost there. It's a sign that you need to stand your ground and keep going, because you've got this. It'll be hard work, but it's worth doing. Success is in sight, so just hold on. You're close to release.

The Wheel of Fortune often represents a big change coming to your life, one that will bring you close to your true purpose or passions. It's also a reminder that the nature of life is change, and that this too shall pass. You're on a journey, but you still have farther to go. Savor the good moments, and trust that the hard ones are helping to shape you into the person you're meant to be.

The Page of Swords represents bright, bold ideas, searching for knowledge and clarity, and the energy to start new projects. The Page might be a person in your life, might be you, or might just be a situation that embodies these ideals. Regardless, the Page of Swords encourages us to be forthright and honest in our dealings with others, and to be brave when we need to be. Swords is a suit of intelligence, logic, and communication, and it's possible for our communication to sometimes focus too much on logic and being right at the price of being harsh and unfeeling. When we see a swords card, it's important to remember that we need both reason and mercy when we work with others.

The Six of Coins/Pentacles card has three main characters. We've got our bigwig rabbit in his fancy top hat, looking like Mr. Moneybags from Monopoly, and two rabbits who are physically lower than him and recipients of his largesse. They're also balanced on scales, which I see as symbolic of being measured.
Typically, the Six of Pentacles represents financial gain, the fruits of our labor, and sharing generously. Mr. Moneybags here could hoard all his wealth for himself, but he chooses to give back to others. It's a reminder not to let a scarcity mindset rule us, and also not to be too proud to accept help.
But if we look closer, I think there's a deeper message in this card. It seems to me that Mr. Moneybags is using the scale to decide whether these people are worthy of his kindness, which is kind of gross. I think we are being reminded not to do that in our own lives. It reminds me of someone saying, "I'm not going to give that person any money, they'll just spend it on booze/drugs/something I disapprove of." I think being generous is about sharing and helping people regardless of whether we think they "deserve" it. It's not for us to judge. It's simply for us to give.

Alfie is so cute 🥰
What breed is he?
I'm not entirely sure! He was a foster dog originally. There was an accident with his previous owners that led to him breaking his two front legs, and they didn't take him to a vet for over a month. By the time he got to the shelter, they weren't sure the surgery to fix his legs would even work. But they gave it a try, and then I fostered him until his legs healed. I knew by Day 2 that I couldn't send him back to the shelter, though. He was too cute to say goodbye to! Anyway, this is a long way of saying that the shelter thought he might be a maltipoo, but that was just a guess. I'm curious about doing a doggie DNA test on him, but not curious enough to spend the money that those cost, lol.
