The Four of Pentacles speaks of stability, but also a scarcity mindset. It represents finally having enough material success to feel secure and steady—but also hoarding what you have, and being too scared to help other people. Sometimes this card is a reminder that we have more than we think, and to give of what we have. Sometimes this card underscores just how little we have, and how much we would benefit from somebody else's generosity. In either case, we need to connect with our community and be honest about our needs and fears.

The Ten of Cups is a heartwarming card. It represents fulfillment, connection, and joy in relationships of the familial, platonic, romantic, and every other variety. It's a reminder to appreciate the simple pleasures in our lives. It tells us that happiness can be found wherever we look for it, and that finding joy in the everyday is the true path to contentment and peace. We are blessed with more abundance than we realize, and when we take the time to notice it, we can share some of that light and gratitude with those we love. What could be better?
Tumblr media
The Eight of Cups speaks of loss, stagnation, and the need to move on. Something we love is broken or gone, and we've been left exhausted and heartbroken. There is hope in the future, but we have to bring ourselves to turn forward and look for it. This can be especially hard when we've lost something or someone we truly cared about. But this is a situation that can't be fixed. The best hope is found in acknowledging the loss, then picking ourselves up and taking the first steps in a new direction. It will get better, but we have to be willing to work for it.

Page of Wands: Luz and the Detention Kids Choosing Their Magic Tracks
Upright: Curiosity, finding your passion, adventure, inspiration, possibility, potential, free spirit
Reversed: Indecision, haste, lack of motivation, lack of passion, limited progress
The Pages of each suit represent the beginning of one's journey in relation to the elements the suit represents. The Wands represent the element of fire; they're all about your energy, motivations, creativity, ambitions, and passions. So, the Page of Wands can be understood to represent the first step in pursuing one's passions. The Page is curious, adventurous, ambitious, and energetic, though often inexperienced and naive. The Page is tasked with exploring the limitless possibilities in front of them, finding out what ignites their soul, and taking the first step toward realizing their goals. Reversed, the Page of Wands can indicate a lack of internal drive, stifled ambitions, and being overwhelmed by too many possibilities.
Viney, Jerbo, Barcus, and Luz all share their desire to explore more than just one magic track in school, but are all hindered by the "one-witch-one-coven" rule. In fact, they are punished for their enthusiasm for learning by being relegated to the detention track, unable to study anything at all, let alone multiple types of magic. They don't let this stop them, though; they sate their curiosity by using Eda's old secret hideout to take their desired classes anyway. They are finally allowed to pursue multiple tracks when they prove there's no inherent problem with doing so—that in fact, witches are stronger when they're not limited to just one type of magic. Tying into the Page's themes of beginnings, this episode marks the true beginning of Luz's education at Hexside, and plants the seed for the eventual dissolution of the coven system.

The DOGS!!
[Image ID: Set of five drawings featuring various dogs, in order:
A border collie facing the viewer leaping over a ribbon like parchment, on which is written 'The empress.' It's passing under an gothic archway surrounded by pomegranate vines with fruit. There are 12 stars shining through the gaps in the archway. The background is a cool off-white white.
A tan and white borzoi running towards the edge of a cliff accompanied by a swallow, watched from the side by two snails. The cliff has a pole with a flag on which 'The fool' is written. There is an ornate pastel pink and green border, the background is a light pastel pink.
A grey pitbull with a blue collar hanging from a red tug rope toy hung from a tree that also acts as a border. The rest of the border is made up of medieval marginalia featuring dragons and vines. On a floating ribbon-like parchment is written 'The Hanged Man'. The background is a blush pink.
A husky in a ready-to-play pose with his tongue out and a red collar with a little cross attached. It's framed by gothic architecture and medieval marginalia featuring two crossed keys. On each side there is a red cardinal bird flying towards the dog. Above on ribbon parchment is written 'The hierophant'. The background is a fresh green.
A dalmatian sitting in front of a fireplace decorated with various emblems and symbols: running foxes, a ram skull, firefighter insignia. The dog gives a mischievous smile, illuminated by a red glow. On the left side of the mantelpiece 'The devil' is written. The background is a deep dark green.]

The Nine of Pentacles is a lovely card. It's not the very end of the pentacles suit (that would be the Ten), but it's close. As such, it represents having enough. Not embarrassing, outlandish, so-much-it's-uncomfortable, but just enough to help us feel at ease. As pentacles represents earth, this "enough" can show up in finances, work, home life, nature, or the physical body. Anything that helps keep us grounded and embodied on this earthly plane.
The Nine of Pentacles says that all the hard work and time that you've put in have paid off. As such, it's telling you that you can take your foot off the gas a little. You can ease up and stop hustling all the time. Because what's the hustle actually for? For finally getting to this point, where you can relax and finally enjoy life.
The Nine of Pentacles might be a sign that such enough-ness is on its way to you, or it could be a sign to stop and appreciate what you already have. If you're in a spot to splurge a little, this card says that's okay. And if you're not, this card says to find a way to savor the earthly delights that already line your path.
Spend time in nature. Take a hot bath. Prepare your favorite beverage. Pet a dog. Take a nap. Tell a coworker how they make life more bearable for you. Gratitude helps us see that we have more than we ever thought, and that regardless of possessions, we are enough. Always. This card is a reminder to celebrate that.
How does the Nine of Pentacles show up in your life?

Here are a bunch of important facts about service dogs in the United States! Many people don’t know the real laws about these amazing dogs that help disabled people every day–so please share this far and wide to spread the word.
Remember, all our product sales help support service dog handlers and organizations. We donate 10% of profits and include educational service dog fact cards with all US shipments. I’m also a disabled artist, and the best way to empower disabled people is to financially support them!
💜(Due to health complications, I’ll be shutting down my shop on Dec 31st–so all decks and art prints will only be available until then. After that, I never plan on selling the Barkana deck again btw!) 💜
P.S. These service dog facts are specific to US laws, not worldwide.
