Q: If you were to go to a no-man island, who would you go with? RM: Tae. Rather than me being able to rely on him… if he’s there, I definitely won’t be bored.

I saw a “shoutout to the theatre kids” post that was only about actors and I felt left out so this is for everyone else (please add to this if you feel you haven’t been represented!!):
shoutout to the theatre kids that aren’t actors
to the stage managers who manage to balance friendships and being authoritative in rehearsals
to the technicians that do extra training in welding and access equipment and so many other things to make themselves more hireable
to the techs and stage management who just sometimes want to wear colour but are instead in show blacks all the time
to the stage managers who get stuck mediating the tension between directors and designers who are older and supposed to be more mature than you
to the techs who injure themselves, deal with it, and keep working (or are told they aren’t allowed and are so annoyed about it)
to the designers that have to compromise what they want because the director doesn’t like it or there isn’t enough time/budget/equipment
to the casual crew members who just like theatre and want to be involved but aren’t trying to make a career of it
to everyone who tries (and sometimes fails) to fit in friends and healthy eating during tech week
to everyone who has ever done a year-long unpaid (or barely paid) internship in the hopes that it will lead to a job opportunity
to everyone who has ever worked really hard on making/finding a prop only to have it cut in tech or dress
to the design assistants that have to figure out when and how to become designers in their own right
to anyone who has ever managed to avert a crisis backstage where there’s barely any light and you can’t talk
to anyone who has ever had to make the decision to stop the show because some crises just can’t be averted
to everyone who struggles to understand unions
and the list goes on and on
you’re all fucking amazing

I’m really enjoying journaling right now so I’ve been writing down everything. The pretty yellow roses were gifted for my mum for International Women’s Day. I’m wishing all my women followers a Happy late Women’s Day!

Our school did a poor job for our Walk Out. Not only did they confine students to the gym, we were told we were having a silent protest. First of all, how dare you. How dare you silence us. How dare you silence our voices. This is my generation and this is the sad and unfortunate issue we have to live through everyday. While most of the schools across the nation are walking out and protesting and showing the world that we want a change, my school decides to confine us and silence us.
Another issue, to those of students who attended only to skip class? Shame on you. You disgraced the whole purpose of this walk out. How dare you disrespect those who died at the hands of guns in a supposedly safe place to learn. How dare you go to chat and hang out with friends and skip class when this was 17 min worth of your life where you could be doing something for change and remembering those who’s future was ripped away from them in a mere second. Have you no shame?

To every single idiot who used 17 minutes of silence to chat and laugh: you’ve disregarded the lives of 17 people, used their deaths to your advantage, and embarrassed yourself and everyone around you. Honestly, from the bottom of my heart, fuck you.

So, I did the American school walkout
It was one of the greatest experiences of my life. I will be telling my children about this. We walked out of our class with out head held high, and when we got out there we were asked to move several times because people kept coming. The names of all 17 victims were read out one by one with descriptions of their personality or actions during the shooting, followed by a minute of silence for every person. There were people crying, myself included. After the names were finished, the people who had signs were asked to hold them up, there were the names of all the victims, the number of victim since Sandy Hook, and many many more. What struck me the most about this experience though, was the unity I felt to all my classmates. People were holding onto one another for support, and I realized that this was a piece of history that I’m a part of now. I would go back and redo this experience a million times if I could. We can make a change.

Dark times all around but there are still people out there who love you
Do not hurt yourself, do not hurt others, get help, talk to someone, anyone. Humanity has survived before and we can do it now if we all just support each other. My country and my people let me down and endangered my life but there’s nothing I or anyone else can do about that so let’s try to spread the love that is so clearly lacking.
