some skk shippers go WAY too far off the deep end, especially when they act like it’s canon
i feel like a lot of ppl (including skk shippers) have this opinion (in terms of going too far off the deep end i mean) cuz we have skk shippers, skk shippers who hate bsd and everything about bsd, and skk shippers who hate dazai and chuuya, and maybe even a fourth thing
i dont have a comment on acting like its canon tho

Chuuya's priorities ranked as shown in the ninth episode of the second season:
His hat
Dazai
Example one, noticing the fucking tentacle coming:

“Hold on a sec, is that-”

“Holy crap, yes that’s a thing.”

“Hell, gotta protect the hat!"

"Oh, fuck, Dazai!”
Example two, when Dazai’s goddamn arm ‘gets torn off’:

“A-”

“Is my hat still safe?!"

"Shit, Dazai, not again!"

Atsushi and Akutagawa and their reactions to abuse—
Atsushi wanted to be rid of the headmaster, and yet at the thought of him actually leaving for good, he was terrified. Because he wasn't ready to let go. Because this man haunted his mind, he was done with him, but he can't be, he needs him.
Akutagawa thinking that he was over Dazai, that he didn't care about his approval anymore, and yet when he's about to die, he still envisions him. He wanted that, wanted what Atsushi had, wanted his mentor to look at him and guide him, to tell him those simple words "You fought well." You were strong, you did a good job, there was nothing else you could have done. He says he's over Dazai, but he's not ready to be fully over him.
Because healing isn't linear. You may not be ready to fully let go, and that's ok. It's still a step forward.

Just a quick reminder that without Lucy:
♥ Yokohama would be destroyed (Atsushi never made it out with the doll)
♥ Fukuzawa died (they couldn't get him into a secure room)
♥ Every single member of the Agency would have been caught, because they didn't have anywhere to go
♥ The coffee in Uzumaki wouldn't taste nearly as fresh.
Just saying

I think having the Agency members being accused as terrorists really adds a lot to their character and just how far they're willing to go in that type of situation.
Like Kunikida stealing a car (that had auto-theft insurance)
Like Fukuzawa making a deal with Mori, even willing to trade a member to the Mafia if it meant their safety.
Like Atsushi willing to make a deal with Fitzgerald if it was to get back his friends and save the Agecy.
And then there's Ranpo...
"We're terrorists now? Cool, that means I get to blow stuff up!"

I don’t vibe with a lot of “Dazai goes back to the Port Mafia” concepts because many of them just involve regressing his character back to who he was back then.
And I’m not a fan of that.
I understand people who have a preference for PM Dazai over ADA Dazai and wanting more of that. I get people wanting to see Soukoku work together more like they used too.
But I don’t like the idea of that coming with the cost of his character. That oh surprise Dazai as we know him was all a lie and the darkness is where he truly belongs.
It erases that Dazai genuinely has changed and grown from who he used to be. Are there many things that stayed the same? Yes because it’s still him but it’s not the same.
Dazai in the Port Mafia would never have taken Atsushi in on the basis that he deserved a home. Dazai in the Port Mafia would never have tried to convince Kyouka that she was worth saving.
That people can change.
If Dazai had remained as he was in the Port Mafia he would never have been able to join the Agency. He never would have been able to gain their love and trust.
You can disagree with that but that’s what I believe wholeheartedly.
And so I will never accept a scenario that erases ADA Dazai. That tries to tell me that the Agency never cared for him and vice versa.
They didn’t know his past that’s true but they never cared about who he was.
All that matters is who he is.
And he’s one of them.
Dazai who declines and even laughs at the very idea of re-joining the Port Mafia. His blood is as black as there’s and yet he walks in the light because that’s where he chooses to be.
There’s a line in a watching the show style fic that I can’t recall the name of where Atsushi sees who Dazai was in the past that really puts it all together for me.
Atsushi says something along the lines of, if this is Dazai’s nature then every day he wakes up and goes against his nature to help people. To treat him solely on the basis of who he was erases all that he’s become.
If Dazai was to return to the Port Mafia I can see it because he’s heard of the transfer and he won’t allow anyone else to go through that.
This is the same Dazai who got himself arrested just to spy on Fyodor for Ranpo. This is the same Dazai who got captured by the Port Mafia with enough black mail to destroy the organisation.
Just to find out who was hunting Atsushi.
If Dazai goes back then it’s for the Agency because everything Dazai does is for the Agency. Every connection Dazai has to the Port Mafia he’s used to aid the Agency. Mori might have his own plans for him but Dazai has his own agenda.
Also do you really think Dazai would ever consider re-joining the same organisation that set up his closest friend to die?
The same man he mourns to this day and does everything to try to make him proud and live by his example.
And who’s the only person Dazai’s ever told about how much Odasuku meant to him? Atsushi.
Atsushi who reminds him so much of Odasaku and makes him want to be better. If Dazai went back to the Port Mafia and erased all his ties to the Agency he would lose Atsushi for good.
And that’s the last thing Dazai wants.
So yeah if Dazai does return back to the Port Mafia for whatever reason, he’s not going back the same and that’s not just because he left at 18 and he’s 22 now.
He burned Mori’s coat.
He wiped his tears.
He will never be the same again and that was for the better.

Ok ok people I have a need for Yosano and Dazai to fucking INTERACT OK. I NEED THEM ON A MISSION OR SOME SHIT TOGETHER AND I NEED THEM TO NOTICE SOME SMALL THING THE OTHER DOES THAT IS LIKE MORI AND HAVE FUCKING CHILLS.
Like they have the same fucking smile you guys.

Like this is them about to start some shit ok

This is them being unhinged af

AND THEN YOU HAVE THEM BEING FUCKING SOFT AND IM!!!
I need dazai to notice how yosano holds her scalpel the same way as mori and for yosano to see how dazai hides his feelings and calculates his moves like how mori does. I need them to be slapped together for a mission and go to terrorize some person they're questioning and have matching expressions.
But yes, I need them to be besties and talk shit about mori.
And on that note I think that chuuya and yosano would be drinking buddies meaning that skk can argue about who's the better friend to yosano and I just think that would be funny.

I was wondering if you have any theory on who from the ADA that Mori will choose to trade to the PM? I am thinking Tanizaki or Atsushi. Tanizaki because of his ability is very useful, but I was also speculating on possibly Atsushi to guilt Dazai? What are your thoughts?
A BSD ask? I wasn’t expecting one so thanks anon!
I believe many people have already written about this topic so I don’t want to go into a lot of details. I will simply try to eliminate who Mori is unlikely to recruit to his side based on their ability and their usefulness. Also, tbvh, it’s quite hard for me to make any solid theories about this series... though, I will try (and I could be totally wrong anyway lol the author is waiting to swing another wild curveball right into my face)
Before coming to your question, I just want to recap a few things and then build off it bc I feel it’s important sort of.
So, at the time Mori made the deal with Fukuzawa to rescue the ADA from the Hunting Dogs, Port Mafia was (seemingly) not being targeted by either the DoA or the Hunting Dogs. The Agency was made out to be terrorists for whatever reason whereas the Port Mafia was stronger on the power scale and ADA needed their protection (even if it was against their will).
But now? With all that has happened, most of the Port Mafia has been turned to mindless vampires. I held out some hope that the top executives might have been whisked off to safety before the vampire outbreak could spread to them—after ch. 98, I don’t think so. Chuuya is the strongest martial artist in the PM. If he has been turned, then no doubt the rest too must have been turned. Mori (and maybe, a few subordinates for his protection) are probably the only ones left human in the PM.
I am guessing by the time the news of what’s going on with the lower ranks reached the top brass, it was already too late and perhaps, Chuuya had to sacrifice himself to protect his Boss? Well, that’s just my headcanon—since going by his casuals, the popular theory is that he was caught off-guard. Maybe.
Anyway, my point is that both ADA and PM are on a (seemingly) losing end rn, comparatively PM even more so. Port Mafia (Mori) has even judged that the Agency’s strategy is essential to the Mafia too. See—
The tables have turned now and the Agency, cornered as they are, are stronger on the power scale (they have strength by their numbers alone. The ADA hasn’t lost any members so far except for Dazai who is working from the prison through Ango anyway) compared to PM, which has only one important figure now. Meaning, rn, the Deal isn’t gonna go through. Surely, Mori’s first priority is to bring PM back to normal, right?
And, for that, we need Dazai. He has to make contact with Bram Stoker and neutralize the Vampire ability (Dracula??) (the same way he did for Q).
Annnd, this—if my guess is right—will take place at the end of DoA arc. How the DoA arc will end, idk. Pretty sure nobody will die and stay dead (Yosano is right there and as long as she is safe, we can put that thought out of mind. Please heal Akutagawa and Tachihara too, Yosano-sensei~) but not whether everything will be back to normal as before.
You see, the DoA arc is the longest arc so far and I can’t even compare the amount of damage the ADA and the PM has taken to that in the Guild or the Cannibalism arc. More importantly, Dostoyevsky. The guy wasn’t really involved in either of the earlier arcs. The first one—he meant for the Guild to take the hit and in the second—he meant to get arrested.
I have no idea what his real agenda is because continuous attempts at burning down a city to hunt a single novel seems tedious and uneconomical. If I were the leader of a massive underground network, I would rather keep it lowkey and locate the Book without any fanfare plus keeping the news of my search from the ears of the major protectors (?? what do I call them?) of the city. That’s why it feels to me that either the Book isn’t really a Book and something else (unlikely bc they apparently already wrote the DoA scenarios on a Page from it) or he was (for the 1584th time) lying about his actual mission. Maybe, not about him wanting to rid the world of the ability users but the rest? (something like this theory maybe?)
Oh, but back to topic. Why did I get talking about Fyodor lol sorry
tl;dr, only if Yokohama returns to normal with the ADA and the PM back to their usual petty animosity will the Deal make any sense. Till then, the two organizations have to work together, whether they like it or not, bc that’s the only way to protect the city and the country. If the Hunting Dogs (not Fukuchi) become their temporary allies, even better.
Well, having said this, let’s go through the list of the Agency members (ability users only) and see the chances of who might get traded into the PM anyway.
Yosano: I don’t think Mori was being serious when he said he wanted Yosano to join the Mafia. It was probably more to cause confusion and a feeling of betrayal (if the false news of Fukuzawa agreeing to trade Yosano was believed, that is) among the ADA ranks and nothing more. But I could be wrong ofc.
Kyouka: Even if she weren’t an ex-PM member, I doubt Mori would particularly demand for her coz the PM already has an assassin trained by Verlaine (Gin) and an ability user with the same ability (Kouyou). Wasting the one chance to get hands on a powerful ability user from the ADA on her doesn’t seem likely.
Ranpo: No, obviously.
Kunikida: His ability is quite useful as we saw during the Cannibalism Arc (him activating it for Tanizaki over a long distance) and during the Introduction Arc (when he and Dazai switched places to neutralize the countdown ability user (I forgot the name)); add to it, he is Dazai’s current trusted partner. But, but, he isn’t exactly cut out to be a mafioso because of his highly valued ideals. Recruiting him might cause more harm to the Mafia than good. In short, this (lol sorry Kunikida)—
Kenji: he is a tank like Chuuya; might make him a good addition to the PM if only for his ability. Taking into account his personality... well, it is not like I won’t love to see a happy sunshine-y ever-optimistic mafia lol
Atsushi: Now we are getting a bit closer to the possibility. Depends on Akutagawa btw
Akutagawa survives the DoA arc:
In this case, Atsushi won’t be traded. Because the Shin Soukoku will continue to work as a unit. Mori doesn’t have to go out of his way to hire the other part of the SSKK into the mafia.
Take Soukoku, for example. Chuuya is still in PM whereas Dazai moved to ADA. Yet during the fight against Lovecraft and Steinbeck, Mori sent Chuuya to form Soukoku once again and Dazai, in spite of his earlier reluctance to make an alliance with the PM (Mori) on the whole, had no choice but to agree. Similarly, at the time of crisis, Mori (or, rather, Dazai) will definitely make the Shin Soukoku to work together again.
Akutagawa doesn’t survive the DoA arc:
In this case, as you say, I can see the possibility of Mori hiring Atsushi if only to guilt Dazai bc he was the one to (indirectly or otherwise) send Akutagawa to his death. Chances are low, though, coz Mori is a cold, calculating man who values results over emotions. Only if he gets to guilt-trip Dazai into doing something for him via this route, then yeah. Otherwise, no.
Add to that, the fact that Atsushi’s tiger is closely related to the Book in some way? idek what the whole sporadic abduction of poor weretiger was all about? Now, the guy who was really after the Book doesn’t seem at all interested in Atsushi? Was he simply bluffing about him being related to the Book so the Guild and Shibusawa enter Japan and launch an attack on Yokohama?
Tanizaki: Frankly, he is the best choice for the transfer. He says he goes feral for his sister but he was also all ready to straight up assassinate the PM boss to save their President had it not been for Kouyou (she even remarks about his terrifying bloodlust as does Hirotsu about how his ability is so well suited for sneak assassinations.)
See—
Not only that, he is the first to recover from the shock of the sudden Deal between the two leaders and adapt the fastest to the new circumstances—
Annd the first to offer to switch to the Mafia instead of Yosano:
All in all, Tanizaki seems the best choice. He has an ability suitable for stealth jobs—he is serious and ready to go to any lengths (even, kill) to pull off the job assigned to him. But most importantly, he doesn’t have any fast ideals. Hirotsu and Kouyou have already noted this and no doubt, Mori too. Among the members of the ADA, he does seem the perfect candidate for the transfer. But, well, let’s see what happens :)

Fukuzawa hit the fucking goldmine when recruiting members of the ADA. The team being so small compared to rival organisations and still having exceptional feats despite being relatively new is a really nice change from other animes, it just proves how talented these detectives are.
What I personally find more interesting is that the lineup was never intentional, Fukuzawa and Ranpo never went out seeking the best, it was their kindness that reeled displaced individuals in with the offer of companionship and a second chance to do good. And it’s their teamwork and trust in each other as a group that makes them such an imposing threat.
The ADA is so fucking OP because what they have is insane. Two talented strategists of different calibres, versatility, healing, illusions, an assassin, brute strength and a strong offense. The team really did slot in together seamlessly and for that reason alone I will never subscribe to the idea that they’re just co-workers.
#bsd#bungo stray dogs#dazai osamu#ranpo edogawa#kunikida doppo#atsushi nakajima#kyoka izumi#yosano akiko#kenji miyazawa#kunikazu okumura#found family#armed detective agency#the fact that they all have crazy connections too bro u cant fake this#and I know these idiots goof around when they can#but this genuinely baffles me I hope this lineup never changes causs there is SO much that the author can do with them#co workers dont stick their neck out to save a member in danger btw#also they literally have a plan in case Dazai dies#i hate the ADA dont care about dazai argument and vice versa#because all it takes is some reading comprehension to understand how silly that sounds#also co workers dont frequent a coffee place together whenever they have time#also weekly movie nights and game nights r canon to me idc

the detective agency has a game night once every so often. most of the agency turns against one person every time (dazai) and it ends with every either drunk or hopped up on sugar. as time goes on, more and more are invited. (poe, lucy, akutagawa, chuuya)
it turns into a tradition spanning across multiple organizations, with supposed enemies meeting up at the armed detective agency to play shitty games and declare war on one another (this time as a joke)

Do you have any bsd hot takes or any popular ships you don’t like
Oooooooh I love this question!! BSD hot takes are my specialty so I’m just gonna rapid fire some with zero elaboration
• Saying that Dazai hasn’t changed is a fundamental misunderstanding of his character, as well as the major themes of the manga. This shouldn’t even be a subject that’s up for debate
• As for ships, I temporarily really disliked Soukoku but it’s grown on me again. I think my most controversial shipping takes would be that I really dislike FukuMori and Atsulucy
• I wish people talked about the Hunting Dogs more!! Like their actual characters, not just simping or ships (not that there’s anything wrong with those things ofc). Jouno specifically is soooooooo interesting to me
• Dazai being suicidal is another subject that shouldn’t be up for debate. Saying he’s not because “his attempts always fail” or “he wants to live” is a horrific misunderstanding of how suicide ideation works
• The reason Atsushi doesn’t feel like the protagonist is because most of the light novel content focuses on the supporting cast, which then gets integrated into the show and gives Dazai more screen time. Reading the manga by itself, Atsushi actually has quite a bit of screen time and development. There are also two light novels focused on him so like,,,yeah
• I’m sorry but it will always be WEIRD to me how many fans switched up on Mori when Yosano’s backstory got animated. It’s fine to like him ofc but why are ppl allergic to focusing on the female characters
• The plot is very straightforward ya’ll it’s like one of the most basic plot structures of all time. Stop acting like it’s impossible to comprehend
• It’s also WEIRD to me how so many fans deny Higuchi being abused by Akutagawa. We see him hit and berate her multiple times, these are textbook examples of abuse. Especially within a professional relationship like theirs that has a power imbalance…again, no idea why this is even a debate
• Look personally. PERSONALLY. I do think Mori is intended to be a pedo. I know a lot of people probably just rolled their eyes so I want to clarify that I have read every analysis you’re about to recommend me that says otherwise. I see that perspective, however it really seems to me that people are doing mental gymnastics to deny the obvious. Again this is just my interpretation so pls lower your guns
• I fucking love Fukuchi he’s one of my favorite antagonists
• Nikolai is queercoded
• I so desperately wish we got more focus on Gin. What we have on her is already so compelling and I would love for Asagiri to flesh her out more
• “Dazai leaving the mafia was a good thing that ultimately saved his life” and “It is rational that Chuuya would be upset over his partner abandoning him with no explanation” are two sentiments that can and should coexist
• Not really a hot take but the Buraiha Trio is my favorite dynamic in the series. I need an entire spin off that’s just them meeting up at Bar Lupin except nothing bad ever happens
• Oda’s death scene is one of the most impactful moments from anything I’ve ever watched or read. It genuinely changed my outlook on life
• And on that note, The Dark Era is my favorite thing to come out of BSD
• It shouldn’t be controversial to say that Dazai was abused by Mori. Not physical or sexual like a lot of fans suggest but child endangerment and manipulation are definitely at play here. Mori’s actions in the Dark Era should be considered an act of abuse on their own
• I don’t care much for The Guild as a whole but the individual characters are super compelling!! Fitzgerald’s comeback is one of my favorite parts of the series and I absolutely adore Louisa, Lucy, Poe, Margaret, and Mark. I hate Nathaniel tho
• I do believe that Ranpo is autistic coded due to Untold Origins, however a lot of fans get very stereotypical and weird with that headcanon. I don’t see that as often now as I used to but it’s still a thing to some degree
• Most fans only look at half of Dazai and Akutagawa’s arc together and completely ignore how it was pointed out to us that Dazai is trying to show Aku the light and make him stronger by pairing him up with Atsushi. He hasn’t stopped training him, he’s just doing so from a distance now because he’s aware he caused Aku a lot of trauma. Not saying their dynamic is entirely positive, but it has changed. There was a whole chapter to point this out!! But people exclusively look at every scene with them through a negative light and it leads to the fandom undermining the development we see from both of them
• Oh and btw, Akutagawa and Atsushi’s partnership is amazing. I’m a big AtsuAku shipper but setting romance aside completely, I love seeing their characters interact. Their banter is so funny and omg the mutual respect between them??? The parallels between their arcs??? The way they help each other grow??? Absolutely fantastic, Asagiri ate with that. I must confess I like them way more then Dazai and Chuuya as a duo
• All these male partnership duos and not a single one for the women, c’mon Asagiri😔 Give us a toxic lesbian pair (I would say Higugin but technically Gin’s partner is Tachihara so they don’t count)
• Kyouka is easily the most underrated character in the series. She’s incredibly well-written and, not to mention, one of the main characters. We see her more than Chuuya and Poe but do people talk about her more than Chuuya and Poe??? No, my baby gets ignored. Sad times we’re living in
• I do believe in the whole “abuse cycle/web” concept, however there is also a healing cycle that is far more important to the story and I hate seeing fans overlook that
• Dazai’s talk with Kyouka at the end of The Guild arc is one of my absolute favorite scenes from the manga and I wish people talked about it more
• Fans joke a lot about Atsushi calling Dazai a good person but I do genuinely believe Asagiri wants us to think of him that way. He is morally gray for sure, but currently he is dedicating his life to saving others, therefore most people in-universe would consider him good. His past actions don’t matter to the every day people he saves on a daily basis. Imo this line was an attempt to challenge what we generally consider to be a “good” person
• To elaborate on that, it directly parallels the scene at the beginning of Dead Apple where Atsushi points out that Dazai is visiting a grave. “Do I look like someone visiting a grave to you?” “Yeah, you do” / “Do I look like a good person to you?” “Yeah, you do.” Atsushi was right the first time, so I believe he was intended to be right the second was well. Why else call back to it???
• Tbh it is objectively hilarious that Dazai doubts himself being a good person directly after saving the city. I understand why but like…sir, cut yourself some slack
• I think the fanon family dynamics are super cute but people should be able to acknowledge that a lot of them aren’t canon (besides, like, Fukuzawa and Ranpo or Bram and Aya). Ranpo and Yosano’s canon relationship is best friends, you can absolutely view them as siblings but don’t treat it like a canon fact
• Yk that post that said “Who the hell gets into bsd and looks for a healthy ship?? Take your sensitive ass back to Haikyuu” ? Yeah. I second that
• As an OCD-er myself I am TIRED of people calling Kunikida OCD. Yes I’ve written him that way before but it’s another thing that people treat as canon which it just…no, that’s not what OCD looks like😭 I could see OCPD or autism tho
• Yes, Kouyou abused Kyouka. Yes, Kouyou cares very deeply about Kyouka. Both of these statements can coexist. Every decision Kouyou makes is motivated by what would be best for Kyouka and if you don’t get that then you won’t understand her character very well
• I want to see Dazai and Kenji interact. Asagiri please
• Since I mentioned Kenji I wanna point out smth very weird I’ve noticed where, when people bring up healthy bsd ships, they tend to only mention the straight ones??? Even if it’s a mischaracterization or the characters have never interacted. It gives me a very weird vibe
• I think Tecchou and Jouno should kiss each other
• Fyodor is probably my favorite antagonist, the chapter with him and Ace is one of my favorites. He’s a good parallel for Dazai and I just love his whole aesthetic. I love the Decay of Angels as a whole, all of them. I’ll also note that his fans seem to understand the manga very well so shoutout Fyodor fans
• Tachihara has an amazing character arc and I hate that the anime cut it out
• Higuchi is so…ugh I love her to death. Her character is the perfect mix of comic relief and tragedy. I once saw someone point out that it’s nice how Asagiri is able to use her for humor without making the jokes misogynistic and I fully agree (although I do have some qualms abt Aku hitting her being used as a joke in that one bonus page). And her finding her place in the mafia, realizing how important she is to the people who work for her???? I adore her, I hope she gets a satisfying ending
• Higugin has so much potential to be explored in fanon and I hate how they always get reduced to the token fluffy wlw ship or how some ppl only like them for the aesthetic. Give me angst!!! Give me toxic doomed yuri!!! Or give me death!!!
• I really like Fukuzawa’s backstory and want to see more of it
• I’ve seen a lot of interesting headcanons for Dazai’s mental health status, and a lot of them feel realistic, but personally I think he’s very obviously intended to have MDD. Nothing wrong with other headcanons ofc, I’ve written him many different ways, but I think since a lot of people downplay the severity of depression, they overlook that option when trying to psychoanalyze severely mentally ill characters
• The light novels have some of the best bsd content and more fans should read them
• I don’t like the “all lesbians love Chuuya” jokes because I am a lesbian and I’m not down bad for him. Do I love him?? Yes. But not in a simp way. He’s more like my gay brother
• Speaking of which- I do really like the gay hc for Chuuya and the bi hc for Dazai but I wish fans weren’t so afraid to step out of the established box!! Nothing is fully confirmed guys, we can headcanon them as whatever we want. Let’s get creative with it
• I wish more fans humanized Yosano the way they do with the male characters. We see from her backstory how much being out on a pedestal hurt her and so it just seems weird that she’s upheld as this flawless girlboss. Yes, she’s a totally badass and a hottie and I love that but there is so much more to her. She has her weak moments just like every other character, and she has such an incredible arc
• On that note I hope everybody who told me Mori is more interesting than her dies in a fire (I’m joking) (ik how Mori fans like to tussle)
• I happen to really like both the Tanizaki siblings. Actually that’s a lie I used to hate Junichirou. I can’t remember why, I think I just found him annoying. No idea what my current opinion is but now I feel kinda bad for hating him so I’ll say I like him now
• Idk why ppl get so pissed when you suggest that Dazai self-harms like. Okay fine ik it’s not fully confirmed that that’s what the bandages are for. But let’s use our brains for a second…
• Ango did nothing wrong
I could go on but this is already absurdly long (edit: cannot believe that autocorrected to wrong, I have never been wrong about anything in my life) so I’m gonna end it on that doorknob confession. I miss my bsd hyperfixation sometimes, the TikTok fandom got on my nerves but it truly is one of my favorite series ever. And not JUST because of Dazai, clearly I have a lot of thoughts on everything about it lol

“The ADA don’t care about Dazai!!!!!!”
They have a detailed plan on how to literally fucking defy death and bring him back to life, a plan which Yosano is heavily involved in
Kunikida routinely calls and cooks for him. They fight in perfect sync after four days of them meeting
Fukuzawa trusted Dazai ON HIS WORDS ALONE with Atsushi’s entrance exam and getting him used to the Agency and didn’t get involved just because he put his faith in Dazai
Atsushi hallucinates Dazai when he’s in distress and looking for help, the fear he had for the Headmaster was once the strongest force in his life was replaced with his gratitude and love for Dazai
Fukuzawa says during the Guild Arc that he wouldn’t even consider allying themselves with the PM, but he’s still fine with Dazai, the Demon Prodigy, joining the Agency’s ranks
Ranpo knew from the start that Dazai was an executive for the fucking Port Mafia, the Demon Prodigy and just went “sure fucking whatever” and let him go through his entrance exam to join DESPITE THAT THE AGENCY WAS MADE FOR RANPO AND AGAINST CRIME
Dazai trained Naomi. This was never elaborated on but it did happen
As Ranpo and Kunikida state while debating on whether to rescue Atsushi: the Agency doesnt interfere with someone’s personal issues or unless Fukuzawa tells them to ig
Stories are always more fucking interesting if there’s conflict between characters, ‘good’ or ‘evil’. The Agency are full of clashing characters, complicated backstories and nuances and they’re going to clash against each other. That’s human.
He’s proven time and time again that he won’t kill himself, that his plans are good and strong and for the Agency. He can handle himself and they trust in that

Everyone’s complaining about how much of a nightmare the shipping is in bds but for me the lack of ship-shoving is a welcome fresh air???
#bsd#dont get me wrong I love shipping just as much as the next person#but I will always favour platonic dynamics just a teeny bit more#also excessive shipping leads to mischaracterisation#which the bsd fandom are definitely guilty of but still#my previous anime fandoms are mha#aot and jjk if that explains it.

You know as much as I love the “ADA kids are broke” I think it adds another layer of humour to the situation when you think that realistically, they probably aren’t. I’d even argue that looking at their lifestyle and the fact that they always seem busy, they all probably make above the national average and good money too.
It’s just in comparison to the Port Mafia and the Guild (two crime organisations notorious for doing shady business) they probably do look poor. And the ADA don’t really help their case either when they’re constantly carpooling off work hours, staying late at work, doing everything in their power to pin group payments onto anyone but themselves and constantly crashing eachothers’ apartments like bums.
(Although I bet you to Dazai, the money does sting little if he tried caring hard enough. That man was probably earning thousands by the minute in the PM).
#bungo stray dogs#bsd#dazai osamu#atushi nakajima#kunikida doppo#tanizaki junichirou#kyoka izumi#ranpo edogawa#yosano akiko#and the thing with the cars is that none of them have cars because the only one who can drive for shit is 14#and they stay late because they’re too busy wreaking havoc#although I find it soooo symbolix that the good guys dont get paid what they deserve but the bad guys do#its so intentional#and when I mean a good amount I mean 40k+ salaries have u seen how busy that agency is??#hired by police too like damn#armed detective agency#port mafia
