Wetaca App: Homemade Food Cooked By Chef

Every time we have less time to cook, but to those who like to eat well, and especially eat dishes of home cooking, we do not usually like to buy pre-cooked food or prepared industrial dishes, because they do not have that point of homemade dishes that we value so much . That is why many home-based food companies are emerging. I recently tried the dishes of two of these homemade food companies at home, the modern substitute of mom's tuppers so I proceed to tell you the experience.

Both one and another company, allow the possibility of configuring the order to our liking . Each week they vary the dishes and their side dishes and after cooking they are packed in a vacuum, so that you can then heat them when you are going to consume them, putting them in the microwave for a few minutes. The result of the experience has been quite good, as you will see below.

Wetaca, Echelon's Kitchen by MasterChef

This company located in Madrid , serves all the Spanish territory. Each week, it publishes its menus, with three possibilities: a menu called Wefit that is a light menu, composed by plates of less than 600 kcal, ideal for those who want to lose weight or dine softer; A menu called Webalance that is its most representative menu, composed of varied and nutritious dishes for the whole week and also two or three weekly dishes grouped under the name Weesentials , with the favorite or recommended dishes.

On their website, there are the plates with their photos and prices and one can order the ones you need before Wednesday to receive them on Sunday in Madrid or on Tuesday if it is anywhere else in Spain. The dishes come vacuum packed, have a shelf life of 10 days and are heated in less than 5 minutes in the microwave. These are some of the dishes I tried and their appraisal.

Lentils with sausage.

A very filling plate and very rich in flavor . For my taste, I prefer that the lentils are a bit more salty, but they were really good. I added some homemade broth (mine) and I took two servings. A good choice at a price of 4.40 euros.

Chipirones in their ink with rice

One of the dishes that I liked the most. Tender, tasty and well cooked, with a side of rice and a good amount. A recommended dish that shows the good work of Efrén in the kitchen .

Chickpeas with spinach

The chickpeas with spinach, a classic seasonal stew , sat me great. Well, they seated me and my son because the rations as you can see already served on the plates are very plentiful. Of course you do not go hungry and besides, they are dishes that seem cooked by yourself, so I found them very homemade and natural.

Eggplant parmigiana with pasta

This Italian dish I liked quite a bit, both for the texture of the eggplant and for the tasty tomato home made sauce, which is also an ingredient that allows to value very well the quality of the food precooked. Worth a try.

Overall Rating Wetaca

The dishes of the company Wetaca come in very abundant rations , with good preparation and very authentic flavors. You can improve the presentation of the containers, with a more beautiful label or with more nutritional information, but they are comfortable dishes to eat hot and homemade every day , and as such they seem very good.

In addition, I like that in its web page, Wetaca change the menus every week giving possibilities to vary thus the menu. The prices, between 4 and 6 euros each dish, allow setting the menu of the week for about 25 euros. It also has desserts (brownie or rice with milk this week) for less than 3 euros, to give us also a joy at the end of the meal.

My refrigerator, the cuisine of Vigo, for 30 years

My fridge has the same philosophy as Wetaca. Homemade dishes prepared with mime, which are at the right temperature are vacuum packed in rations to be reheated in the microwave in our home. The company has great experience since it has been elaborating food for 30 years under another commercial name.

The dishes come in packages with an attractive label that informs how to regenerate them for consumption and with a good presentation. However, they present both the dish and the garnish in the same container , which sometimes causes the rices or pasta of the garnish to mix with the sauces or absorb them.

In general the dishes of this company I found also very good, tasty and well made, although the portions are somewhat smaller than those of the Wetaca company. The possibilities of configuring the menu are very extensive in My Fridge since its website has many dishes on the menu, with prices of all types, from 3 euros and up to 8 euros depending on the dishes chosen. They also have menus for runners, a light menu and a balanced menu, similar to the other company. These are the dishes I tried and their appraisal.

Callos with chickpeas

A good dish of callos in the Galician style , well made, mellow and with good seasoning. A stew of those who comforts in winter that nothing has to envy the traditional homemade dishes. Price 4.95 euros.

Couscous of chicken and vegetables

Sweet and mellow, with more vegetables than chicken but rich as a single dish . It is difficult in these types of dishes to get them not past cooking but this cous cous was really on point and I liked the combination of flavors. Price 4,55 euros.

Meatballs with rice

Veal and pork dumplings, a serving with 5 units and rice as a garnish, are reminiscent of homemade dishes, very familiar and are great for the days that you come home and want a plate of those of a lifetime . Well done and tasty.

Portuguese cod with potatoes and vegetables

A baked cod loin with a Galician potato and onion base , roasted with virgin olive oil and a touch of white wine, with an extra punch of flavor and color based on black olives. A portion not too large, with more garniture than cod but that is enough, and you can try for a price of 7.95 euros.

Overall rating of MiNevera

Balanced dishes, well made and with a taste and style quite homemade . The great variety of recipes and prices is obvious and helps to choose the menu for each week, although it is a static letter that does not change like the other, much smaller but dynamic. Price ranges are similar, although there are some more expensive dishes, especially meat and fish. They also have two desserts: rice with milk and grandma's cake (chocolate), at similar prices of 2.75 and 2.50 euros respectively.

Conclusions on home-cooked food companies analyzed

Although in Direct to the Palate we always recommend that you cook at home and carry out our recipes and try to suggest every day the best dishes of each season, the proof of these homemade recipes at home, we liked it a lot since in general all The dishes of both companies were very rich and would have passed through me if I had told my family that way.

For this reason, I consider that, for people who do not have the time to cook or want to eat home in the office or have homemade food when they get home, these homemade dishes can be a good option to eat well, replacing the Mom tuppers and taking advantage of its price is not as high as eating every day of restaurant.
