Superman's Girl Friend Lois Lane #85

In Kandor they get ready for a cultural exchange with Earth, they launch a missile at the ski jumper Karen Varley at the Olympics Lois is covering. Karen was invited to Kandor to showcase her ski jumping. Dancer Sherry Kane also gets an invitation and Dr Chloe Hormeny for breeding toy sized ponies. The next day Superman tells Lois the Kandorians also want her and Perry expects her to supervise the other girls, she’s happy to get a vacation.  

At the Fortress the girls are given Kandorian clothes and anti gravity shoes to counteract the heavy gravity of Kandor and Superman’s sends them with a new microwave tunnel. Part of Kandor rolls out the red carpet for them the other half are anti Earth for Hiem monopolizing Superman’s time, keeping him from finding a way to restore Kandor. (there was a separate comic series about this it ends badly) 

 They yell at them to go home throwing flowers that release a mist that knocks out Lois and at the clinic Dr Cor-Lar makes her super and invulnerable. 

 They watch Karen exhibit her ski jumping but the crowd topples a light projector into her course and Lois flies out to save her. Lois asks Cor-Lar if she’ll renew her powers when the potion wears off, for a price and also don't tell the authorities. Lois can tell she’s up to something (you don’t say) and leaves but Cor-Lar says when she changes her mind her offer still stands.  

That night Lois is having fun with the other women when she's assaulted by the sounds of bells in her head. (so it gave her exploding head syndrome) 

Her powers are also gone and to get it to stop she signs that she’ll do whatever Cor-Lar wants, but she’s so jittery she can't read the fine print. (a contract signed under duress isn’t valid) She tells Lois she’ll think of something and Lois thinks about telling Superman.  

Later Superman takes the girls back home and Lois thinks she’ll keep her powers quiet for a while. Back at the Planet Lois and Clark type at superspeed but Lois melts the typewriter keys so she molds them back into shape. As Clark gets a tip for Superman Lois listens in with her super hearing, a gang is planning a murder, Lois wonders if Clark will tell Superman or bust them on his own and follows to make sure he’s alright.  

Dr Ulrich made the phony tip to get back at Superman for capturing him five years ago in that time he built a magnet to attract all the Kryptonite on Earth to make a huge boulder. (so there should be no more Kryptonite on Earth stories then) Lois then arrives but doesn't see Clark but does enjoy using the track equipment for a minute before finding Superman. He tells her to get help instead she lifts the boulder since she’s immune to kryptonite and hurls it into space. She’ll tell him how she got powers when they start a more permanent partnership in marriage, any other girl he’d say no but she has powers also he loves her. (so it really was just her lack of powers that kept them apart so why didn't he use his super advanced science at anytime to give her some) 

 They’ll make their team up official with a marriage license. As Superman flies Dr Ulrich to prison Lois’s powers wear off and the bells start sounding in her head again and Cor-Lar watches and gloats, time to start phase two of the scheme. 

Sam Lane comments on Lois always reading, maybe she’ll be a writer and if her curiosity is anything, maybe a reporter, Ella thinks Lucy will be an actress. (actress stewardess close enough) They wonder what kind of man Lois will marry, (guys she’s like 3) maybe someone important, thousands of miles away from Pittsdale.  

Meanwhile on Krypton, Jor-El and Lara worriedly watch their son Kal-El, he’ll have to grow up to marry, if he can't get this ship built before Krypton explodes. Lara tells him to relax since he’s so exhausted. On earth Lois crawls into an unattended car, shifting it into reverse down a hill but Hiram, wearing a Peter Pan costume, saves her before she hits a truck.  

As the Lanes are relieved the Els take Kal-El to Dimension Viewers to see different worlds. As the Lanes have a picnic Sam warns Lois not to go into the woods, Kal-El ‘s uncle Zor-El gives him a new toy as they wait out a storm. 

 On earth Lois sneaks into the woods and finds a rattle snake, meanwhile Kal-El sneaks to a rocket and drops his rainbow twirler into it.  

Jor-El sends it off but a miscalculation sends it out into space so he’ll have to build another one. (why is no one watching the toddlers) As Lois gets closer to the snake the rocket arrives via warp and lands in quicksand next to Lois launching the twirler out and it falls by Lois. As the snake is about to strike it flies up making noise and lights that scare it away.  

In Earth's gravity the toy also falls into quicksand. Sam finds Lois before she walk into it and wonder what she is talking about thinking it was a story she made up. Neither Lois or Kal-El knew that by fate he’ll grow to be Superman and she’ll grow to be a famous reporter who constantly gets into danger he’ll save her from.
