i was adopted. i didn't meet my biological father until i was 22.

at 29, i often look at this painting he gave me. it hangs on the wall close to my treadmill. sometimes i just walk and stare at it.

growing up, i never knew my dad, or anything about him. but when i met him for the first time, i was struck by how similar we were. he spoke like me. he apologized profusely for everything - much like me. we shared similar interests. played the same games. liked the same music. he even painted. i was a painter.

to this day, i'm amazed at how similar my painting style is to his.

but what continues to blow my mind are the small details. i find myself coming back - again and again - to this spot on my dad's painting.

looks a lot like my favorite thing to draw, doesn't it?

i think what we love is in our dna. 💗i carry you with me, dad.

idk if anyone follows this blog anymore. but i have some news !! i'm writing an illustrated children's book !! inspired by winnie the pooh, moomins, and many, many other things i'm deeply passionate about. i've had the idea in mind for 10 yrs now, and i'm finally making it a reality !! 💗
