i have always been an enormously large fan of how alana uses the word “breach.” within the confines of season one specifically, when discussing topics that are sensitive to will alana will almost always use the word “breach.” she is outright establishing that she is going to push a boundary that may make will uncomfortable. she does not beat around the bush or make things particularly difficult. she states plainly and simply that there is a serious discussion needed to be had, and takes will’s comfort into careful consideration. it is quite thoughtful when put in comparison to how will interacts with other characters.

i think something interesting (and something i dislike to a certain degree) about the hannibal community is their reaction to will wielding seduction as a tool to lure hannibal. i do firmly believe that there is something to be said about how it’s a very popular opinion that he didn’t or more so couldn’t think of another way to do it, and how that opinion contributes to the portion of the community who actively belittle will’s intelligence. all done while simultaneously furthering this kind of striking feminization that exists within will graham’s character. with every step through the terrain of the show, we see will following in the footsteps of a LOT of feminine archetypes/stereotypes, but that’s a whole other essay. the thought attempts to enforce the idea of using ‘feminine wiles’ to manipulate due to supposedly not being intelligent enough to scheme in other fashions that don’t revolve around desires of the flesh. maybe it’s just me, but i find it disturbing and shallow.
