No shade to kinky people, but the fact that it's somewhat seen as "puritan" to enjoy sex without violence or without a massive power imbalance is just incorrect. Actual puritanism involved a massive power imbalance between the man and the woman, as well as child sexual abuse. Violence around sex was frequent.

Analysis

Spoiler for season 2 episode 9

What I found really interesting about this episode is the subversion of of our expectations of a "good victim" and a "bad predator" in regards to pedophilia.

-As a lot of kids were in this era, Anshi was first and foremost groomed by her own father, who sent her to be raped. The emperor, just like most powerful people, looks almost innocent (to the audience) because he doesn't have to groom the child himself : the job has already been done.

-Moreover, he is "terrified of grown women". Which could mean his own mother was a monster, but could also just mean grown women trigger his insecurities of being a weak, passive, pitiful man, which is why he finds little girls who can not see his inadequacies. It's really interesting because often the "monster" is depicted as impressive and scary, but in regards to pedophiles it shows the audience how utterly harmless and weak they could appear to an adult. (And the fact that he looks like our cinnamon roll Jinshi aaaah never judge a book by its cover)

-Anshi rapes him, which again so interesting. She's not this perfect, broken little thing, she's furious, understandably. Like she's NOT jealous of course when she understands he's moved on. She's just realizing that he never loved her, that he's just a predator and her rape was just power and ego to him. It's so realistic I love it.

-And the fact that she then raised Jinshi specifically so he could "toughen up" aaaah like yeah not the best for poor Jinshi, but also that shows how much she loves him. She did everything so that he wouldn't become so weak, so that he could feel real love for someone.

Do you hate characters like Suguru Geto, Yuki Soma, Sasuke Uchiha, or Jason Grace or have you also felt the cold terror of realizing you can not function into the system you were born in ?

Knowing that you are the golden child of that very system, the lucky one, gifted. No one wants to hear you complain about how you hate it anyway, your complains are pathetic, even to your own ears. You should be grateful.

Je commente pas souvent les créations françaises mais Bref 2 il m'a tabassé la gueule un peu. Surtout la partie sur les violences entre ainé et cadet, je peux vous dire qu'en tant que cadette de ma famille j'ai bien chialé. On en parle jamais de ce que ça fait d'être le "bébé", qu'on méprise tranquillement pour se mettre du côté des adultes.

Bref c'était très beau. Et je pense que ça va aider beaucoup de mecs cis à aller mieux, et je trouve ça top pour eux.

Gojo is an attractive, fascinating, and almost hypnotizing character to straight women because he's a very serious, powerful and responsible man who pretends he's goofy, unserious, harmless and incompetant to not make people uncomfortable.

Which makes him the exact opposite of how most men act in the real world.

Satoru asking "did you leave because of me ?" Maybe he was too loud - too annoying. Too inhuman. Maybe his strenght had made him too arrogant. He could never be a good friend. He could never understand people, could never be what they needed. His eyes gave him the power to see everything, to be everywhere - yet he could never fit in.

Suguru asking "did you stay because of me ?" In the end he couldn't be the strongest with Satoru. Couldn't protect Riko for the few minutes he was alone with her. Couldn't protect Haibara when Satoru was away. Couldn't process grief without breaking appart. He wasn't strong enough to make any difference. He could absorb every cursed spirit, but the sum was still made weaker by his too human soul.
