Through The Portal: Chapter 5
Series Masterlist
Chapter Summary: Dipper learns more about Bill than what he bargained for. He also gets to know Y/n more than he thought. Stan mulls over his confession. Ford fights his own feelings for Y/n.
Pairing(s): Stan x reader, Ford x reader, Bill x reader, Mabel x friend!reader, Dipper x friend!reader
Warnings: Angst, Fluff, mentions of torture, PTSD, unrequited love, flashbacks, mentions of hopelessness.
A/N: The events and ideas are based on a theory I have about the Nightmare Realm. This is in no way canonically true, just my theories based on what we canonically know about the Nightmare Realm.
Dipper’s eyes widened at my words as I stated that Stan once lived with me. I no longer wanted to hide my past from the kids anymore, either way, they were going to find out. I had started to grow close with them and I felt terrible about hiding things from them. Having to tip-toe around their questions.
“How is that possible? Y-you look so young!?” Dipper pointed out.
“I may look young, Dipper, but where I was before I came out of the portal, time and gravity had no laws. Anything was possible. I’m actually around the same age as Ford and Stan, believe it or not.”
Dipper sat there with his jaw slacked, his mind filled with questions as they overlapped each other. I knew it was hard for him to wrap his mind around the thought I was the same age as his uncles. He sat there as his thoughts encouraged me to continue.
“After Stan was kicked out, I found him wandering the beach. He told me he was just living in his car and under good conscience I could not let him do that knowing I had a place for him. We grew close quickly. Then, when I got closer to getting what Bill wanted, I started pushing Stan away. Until, one day I was readying the machine for testing and got sucked inside. I had unspoken things I never got to tell Stan, and he did as well. He was angry he had no idea what happened to me.”
I was getting closer and closer to finally having everything I could ever ask for. Once my portal had passed the testing phase, I could finally give Stan everything he could ever want. I worked tirelessly on the machine, time passing as I became unaware of it.
“Y/n?” Stan’s voice echoed through the stairwell of the basement.
“Stan, what is it?”
“I made you dinner, it’s on the table if you want it.”
“Thanks. I’ll be up later to get it.”
“Y/n, what could possibly be so important down there that you can’t even walk up to get food?” Stan’s voice was concerned and worried.
I sigh, and stop what I’m doing. I head to the stairs where Stan is waiting at the top. I give him a soft smile as I make my way up to meet him. He gave a soft smile back as I met him at the landing.
“Okay. I’m sorry. I’m just trying to finish this project in time.”
“It’s okay, toots. I get it, but I want you to take care of yourself too.” Stan’s thumb rubbed my cheek bone gently.
I giggle and lean into his gentle touch. He was always so sweet to me, and I had to confess that I was growing more and more fond of him. Once I was finished with this invention, I wanted to dedicate the rest of my life to being with him.
“Growing close to him, aren’t we?” Bill’s voice echoed through my mind, “would be a shame if anything happened to him, wouldn’t it?”
“You wouldn’t dare!” I thought as Stan and I walked to the table.
“Get back to work, and I won’t hurt him. Besides, what happened to being mine? I don’t like sharing what’s mine!”
“Okay, okay. I’ll get back to work.”
“That’s my good girl.”
“I-I need to get back to work.” I state, grabbing my plate and rushing back downstairs, leaving Stan to wonder what just happened.
I worked harder than ever. Bill, peering over my shoulder now more than ever. He wanted to make sure I finished on time. Finally, the day came to prepare for testing, but something went wrong. I must have miscalculated as the gravity of the portal pulled me in. I gripped onto anything I could hold onto, but it was no use. I slowly slipped into the portal vanishing without a trace. I left Stan with so many questions, and an unspoken confession hanging on his mind.
“S-so Stan never knew what happened to you?” Dipper questioned softly.
I shook my head, “he must have thought I ran out on him. The last conversation I had with him, I bolted back to the basement as quickly as he got me out of there. Bill, he had a tight leash on me…he was obsessed.”
“D-do you know Ford’s connection with Bill?” Dipper asked, looking at a sleeping Ford.
“I don’t, sadly. He never shared that with me. He quickly found out mine, but it was hard to tell the connection he had.”
“Wh-what if we found out? Using this?” Dipper pointed to the helmet he was wearing that was reading his thoughts.
His thoughts stated that there would be no harm, and we could help better. I took a deep breath and nodded in agreement. There was no harm, and Dipper then could help us defeat him. Dipper took the helmet off his head and walked over to Ford and placed it on Ford’s.
“Just a little peek. What are you hiding about Bill?” Dipper stated as he watched Ford’s thoughts appear on the screens.
Soon Bill’s image popped on the screen. His evil laugh echoed through the room. My body shivered hearing his laugh. I hated him so much, the things he did to me while laughing with that evil laugh of his.
More memories popped up. A new voice, one that belonged with whom I assumed was his assistant, and then Stan’s voice echoed through the room. Then Bill popped up again.
“He would trick or possess anyone,” Ford popped up, then a younger version of Ford popped up, “then it’s a deal, from now to the end of time.” He reached his hand out for a handshake.
Then Bill popped up again, his outstretched hand glowing with blue flames, “just let me into your mind Stanford.”
Their hands connected and shook as Ford spoke, “please, call me a friend.” Ford’s face appeared with Bill’s eyes, their voices intertwined as they laughed. I grew scared, was it possible for Bill to still have access to Ford's mind? “Ford and Bill!?” Dipper questioned in shock.
We turned around as Ford stood up. His eyes weren’t visible to us. I grew terrified as I realized that maybe Bill did still have access to Ford’s mind. Maybe that’s why he refused to erase my memory the other day. I had seeked refuge with someone still close to Bill, and that made me sick to my stomach.
“You shouldn’t have done that.” Ford spoke.
Dipper and I slowly back up. Ford takes the helmet off, throwing it on the ground and reveals his shrine of Bill. My eyes prick with tears as I grow terrified.
“Why were you shaking hands with Bill? You said Bill could possess anyone so he could get this!” Dipper grabs the rift, almost dropping it.
“Careful! Hand me the rift. Now boy!” Ford shouts.
I place a protective hand on Dipper’s shoulder as we slowly back up as Ford walks towards us. I was in a state of fear. I felt like the room was slowly morphing around me. Keeping a hand on Dipper kept me somewhat grounded in reality.
“Why are you really scanning my thoughts?” Dipper grabs the memory gun, “are you Bill right now?”
“Now just-just calm down, p…”
“Pine tree! Is that what you were going to call me!?” Dipper kept the memory gun pointed at Ford as we were backed up into the computer screens.
“I was going to say please, kid!”
“Great Uncle Ford told us to protect the rift! Get one step closer and I’ll shoot. I’ll erase you right out of Ford’s head!” Dipper’s voice kept my mind from slipping away from reality. I felt my legs trying to buckle at the thought that Bill could be possessing Ford right now. I wasn’t prepared to face him yet.
“It’s me Dipper! It’s your uncle! Y/n, sweetheart, help me out here?”
“Get out of Ford’s mind you triangular demon!” I screamed, Ford never allied me sweetheart, that was Bill talking, tears streamed down my face slowly as I looked away.
“Trust no one, trust no one. Trust..” Dipper heard my fear, and started to pull the trigger.
“Hand it to me!”
Dipper pulled the trigger of the memory gun. The beam bounced around the room, as we all ducked. My legs gave out as I no longer felt like I had a grip on reality. Ford picked Dipper up by his vest and adjusted his glasses. It was truly Ford standing there. It was too late for my mind to rationalize that now.
The world around me was morphing. The room slowly turned into the Nightmare realm as I slowly began to hear that evil laugh. I covered my ears as tears streamed down my face. I felt a pair of arms lift me up gently and Ford’s calming voice spoke.
“Bill’s gone. He can’t hurt you anymore. You’re safe with me dear.”
I started to calm down as my eyes opened slowly. I was no longer in the basement. I was in the room I had been staying in. Both Ford and Stan were standing there looking concerned. My eyes were still wet with tears as I slowly realized where I was.
“Hey ya, toots.” Stan spoke softly as my eyes landed on him.
Ford’s gaze turned from me to Stan as he spoke, “she’s been through a lot when she was in that portal, Stanley. This was the worst state I’ve seen her in.”
“Are you two going to tell me, or am I gonna be left in the dark here?” Stan looked at Ford with a stern look.
“She went through a lot that has caused trauma, post traumatic stress if you will. Her state of mind is always so fragile afterwards. The only way I’ve been able to get her out is to whisper that he’s gone, and she is safe.” Ford explained.
Stan came and sat down next to me, pulling me close, “I’m so sorry. I had no idea you had really been through so much.”
I curled into Stan, wanting anything to keep my mind from slipping back again. He cradled me gently, holding me there for as long as I needed him to. I had never realized the effect Bill truly had on me, but being in Stan’s arms made me feel a comfort I hadn’t known for a very long time.
“Th-thank you. Both of you.” I finally spoke up, my voice soft and hoarse. I must have been screaming.
“No need, toots. I’ve got you. I’ll always have you. No matter what.” I felt comforted by his words, but what he said next had my mind whirling, “I love you Y/n.”

I feel the same. I've met so many wonderful people on my travels and I hope I get the chance to see them again, or if not I hope they well. You seem unique though, different from those I have met, maybe I have met you in a different dimension, a different version of you, but you're too unique for me to mistaken with anyone else.
Hello, how are you? How are things going? 😁😁😁

Through The Portal: Chapter 4
Series Masterlist
Chapter Summary: Ford must talk Y/n down from making a rash decision. Both must face their tormentor head on.
Pairing(s): Stan x reader (platonic present, romantic past), Ford x reader, Dipper x best friend!reader, Mabel x best friend!reader Bill x reader
Warnings: angst, fluff, mentions of hopelessness, torture, mental manipulation, PTSD, unrequited love, flashbacks.
A/N: The events and ideas are based on a theory I have about the Nightmare Realm. This is in no way canonically true, just my theories based on what we canonically know about the Nightmare Realm.
“What!? Are you crazy? I would never even think about doing that to you!” Ford was frantic, he really couldn’t believe I just blurted that out so casually.
“Using the memory gun and erasing the thoughts of Bill, and what I saw and went through in the Night Realm, it might just work. I’m willing to make that sacrifice if it means keeping the rift safe.”
“No! That’s not even an option on my radar.”
“I’m aware, that’s why I’m making it an option.”
“No. I’m not doing that. I care about you too much to erase your memories all willy-nilly like that.”
“It’s not willy-nilly, Ford. I know what I’m asking of you and I know it’s a hard decision but…”
“A hard decision!? It’s an impossible decision that I am refusing to make. I’m not gonna do it, and neither are you. End of discussion.”
I sigh, “may I ask why?”
“Because, if I erased your memory of your time in there and your memories of Bill…you’d forget who I am.”
His words struck me. Was this Ford’s weird way of hinting at something? I shook the thoughts away. Ford and I had been through a lot when it came to Bill, and maybe he finally felt like someone truly understood him fully. He wouldn’t come out and say it, but he was scared of being the outcast he felt he always was.
“Okay, I’m sorry I asked.”
“It’s okay. As long as you promise never ask me to do that again.”
I nod, “is there anything else you need from me?”
Ford shook his head, “you can head back upstairs. I just felt like you should know what I found. You and I are of like minds and we both know how evil Bill truly is.”
I nod, “okay, if you need anything from me, you know where to find me.”
We shared an understanding look for each other before I walked back upstairs where the twins started to bombard me with questions and stories again. It felt nice that they were accepting of me into their life.
The next couple of weeks were interesting. Dipper and Ford told me about their adventure playing Dungeons, Dungeons, and More Dungeons that was then brought to life because Stan had thrown their dice, making the infinity sided die to roll out of its case. I enjoyed them sharing their adventure with me as I tried to make sense of my night terrors as Mabel called them.
The following week I helped the twins help Stan run for Mayor of Gravity Falls. I supported him 100% as the Stan I knew back in 1973 would have made a great mayor. I didn’t realise how much he had changed, or what little knowledge he had on politics. Still, I was happy to support him no matter what. After saving the kids, he was elected mayor by getting the birdly kiss from the mayor picking eagle. Little did I know Stan had a very extensive criminal record. I guess people do really change more than you realize.
I knew the adventure this week, though, was going to be interesting. I was fast asleep when all of a sudden I was in the middle of the nightmare realm. I feared it was another nightmare, then suddenly it morphed to where I was standing in the middle of a field.
“Y/n?” I heard Ford’s voice call out.
I turned around and saw him standing there, “Ford?”
“Wh-what are you doing here?”
That’s when we heard the malicious laugh of Bill Cipher. It was no coincidence Ford and I were here. Bill had a plan for us. Big plans.
“Well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, aren’t you two a sight for sore eye. Stanford Filbrick Pines, my ol’ pal. And, could this be, my sweetheart? Y/n? I think it is.”
“Bill Cipher. What do you want from us?” Ford asked, pulling me behind him.
“Oh quit playing dumb, IQ. You two knew I’d be back. You think shutting down that portal can stop what I have planned. I’ve been making deals, chatting with old friends, preparing for the big day. You can’t keep that rift safe forever. You’ll slip up and when you do…” Bill then shows us a tear leading from our world to the nightmare realm, and I feel like I’m gonna puke.
“Get out of here! You have no dominion in our world!” Ford yelled at Bill, keeping a protective hand on me.”
“Maybe not right now, but things change, Stanford Pines,” Bill’s voice morphs into a creepy deep one, “things change.” He then rises into the tears laughing maniacally.
I shoot up screaming. Scared out of my mind. Bill was coming, and I was utterly terrified. The thought of actually facing Bill scared the shit out of me. Bill was someone I never wanted to actually face ever again. The fact that he appeared to Ford and I meant he was growing stronger and stronger with each passing day. That was the thing that scared me the most.
The next morning I could barely get out of bed. I sat there lost in thought, I was unable to fall back asleep after our meeting with Bill. I heard Ford call for a family meeting and I gathered all the courage I could muster and walked downstairs.
“Y-Y/n? Are you alright?” Ford asked, looking at me concerned.
“I’m scared, worried, I didn’t go back to sleep last night if that’s what you mean.” I stated.
Ford felt terrible I had gotten dragged into this, but little does he know I did it to myself. Bill’s infatuation with us was no coincidence.
“Ooh, mysterious scrolls and potions. Are you going to tell us we’re finally of age to go to wizard school? Is there an owl in this bag?” Mabel asked hopping in a chair and started to go through the bag Ford had on the table.
“No, I assure you if there is an owl in this bag, he’s long dead.” Ford took the bag from her.
Dipper and her sat down as I stood behind Ford. He pulled out a scroll paper and showed it to the kids, “Now, tell me children, do any of you recognize this symbol?” He holds up a scroll with Bill on it.
They both gasp before Dipper speaks, “Bill.”
“Y-You know him?” Ford was shocked, and so was I.
“Know him!? He’s been terrorizing us all summer. I have so many questions and theories.” Dipper spoke frantically.
“Dipper’s been pretty paranoid since Bill turned him into a living sock puppet.” Mabel added.
“The important thing is, we defeated him twice.” Dipper interjected.
“Once with kittens, and once with tickles.”
“It was a lot more heroic than it sounds.”
I looked at Ford concerned about the kids. This was serious, the fact they have faced Bill. It means he now has access to their minds, especially Dipper. Ford looked back at me with the same concerned look.
“The fact you have dealt with Bill is gravely serious.” Ford spoke up.
“So, how do you know Bill?” Dipper questioned. I knew I wasn’t ready to talk about that yet, and I knew Ford wasn’t ready either.
“Y/n and I have encountered many dark beings in our time, Dipper. What matters now is, his powers are growing stronger, and if he pulls off his plans, no one in this family will be safe.”
I wanted to punch Ford for confirming my suspicions. He was never good at comforting, so I don’t blame him entirely, but I didn’t want those to be confirmed. Neither did the kids as they gasped at what Ford just stated.
“Fortunately there should be a way to shield us from his mental tricks.” He unrolls a map onto the table, and grabs a marker, “a way to Bill-proof the shack. All I have to do is place moonstones here, here, here, and here, “he draws circles on the map, “sprinkle some mercury, and let’s see. I always forget the last ingredient.” He flips through Journal 1, “ugh. unicorn hair.”
“That’s not, like, rare, is it?” Dipper asks.
“It’s hopeless. Unicorns reside deep within an enchanted glade, and their hairs can only be obtained by a pure, good-hearted person who goes on a magical quest to find them.”
Mabel began screaming at the top of her lungs. She begged Ford to let her go on this quest to get the hair. Naming everything she has done that proves that she is obsessed with unicorns. Then she mentions that she is probably the most good-hearted person in the room. No one argues with her about that. Ford agrees to let her go, giving her the journal and a crossbow.
“Y/n, you wanna come with me and the girls on this quest?”
“I actually need Y/n here with Dipper and I.” Ford answers before I can say anything.
Mabel shrugs and calls her friends and sets off on the quest for unicorn hair. Ford leads Dipper and I down to the second floor of the basement. A place neither of us have seen yet.
“If we can’t Bill-proof the shack, we’re going to have to do the next best thing. We’re gonna have to Bill-proof our minds.” Ford pulls out a device that strangely looks like a torture device.
Ford begins to turn the machine on and places the metal helmet on Dipper’s head. This must have been the device Ford wanted to use on me a couple weeks ago, but worried my mind would still be vulnerable to his torment because of my dreams.
“So, what is Bill exactly?” Dipper questions.
“No one knows for sure. Accounts differ of his true motivations and origins. I know he is older than our galaxy, and far more twisted.”
“No kidding…” I mumble, still traumatized from my extra time with him in the nightmare realm.
Ford gives a sympathetic look before he continues, “not a physical form, he can only project himself through our thoughts through the mindscape. That’s why he wants this.” Ford holds up the rift, “I dismantled the portal, but with this tear, Bill still has a way into our reality. To get his hands on this rift, he would trick or possess anyone.”
“So how do we keep Bill out of our minds?” Dipper inquired.
“There are a number of ways I personally had a metal plate installed in my head.” Dipper doesn’t believe him, so Ford taps his head proving he does, “but this machine is safer. It will scan your mind, biologically encrypting your thoughts so Bill can’t read them.” Ford switches the screen on, “now, say hello to your thoughts.”
Dipper thoughts play across the screen. Some are interesting, others are utterly embarrassing. I felt bad that his poor thoughts were on display for us.
“By the way, you two never told me what your history with Bill was.”
“Dipper, do you trust us?” Ford asks, and he nods, “then you’ll trust that’s not important. Now, focus. It's time to strengthen your mind.”
The three of us sit there for hours as the machine slowly encrypts Dipper’s thoughts. I look over at Ford who has fallen asleep at his desk. “Must be nice to be able to sleep anywhere…or at all…”
“What’s been going on with you lately by the way? You’re more distant and paranoid, especially today.”
“It’s Bill. He scares the heck out of me. The thought of coming face to face with him in a physical form terrifies me.”
“S-so you had a bad experience with Bill too, huh?”
“I-it wasn’t always like that, Dipper…Bill and I were actually very close…then I got a true peak at what he really wanted…on the other side of my portal…he tortured me…Ford and Stan won’t be happy I am telling you this, but you and Mabel were going to find out eventually…”
“W-Wait, your portal? Y-you didn’t go through with Great Uncle Ford?”
I shake my head, “no…I had made my own. I found an old book in my parents' attic. They used to be Anti-Cipherites, or descendants of some. A group looking to take down Bill. It had an encryption on how to summon him. I did, and that night he appeared to me. He showed me his equation, he tricked me with his flattery, saying I didn’t need school or friends. Helping him would give me everything I ever wanted. Including helping my friend so he could finally go home before his brother left for college….that friend was your Uncle Stan…”
Dipper's eyes widened, “h-how old are you then?”
“Technically 61, but the place I was stuck in has no concept of time, so I never really aged…”
Dipper’s jaw dropped, “s-so you knew Grunkle Stan before he was banned from New Jersey?”
I nodded, “Stan lived with me.”

I believe it is. You want the day to be memorable, why not be choosy, after all it sounds like this is your life's work 😁
How are you? How's research going? 😁
Everything is fine! I think I've already found the equation. All that remains is to find time to publish it. This is very important to me and exciting, so I want the portal to open on a convenient day. Is it worth choosing a beautiful date?..

Through The Portal: Chapter 3
Series Masterlist
Chapter Summary: Stan finally learns what really happened to Y/n back in 1973. Stan realizes the sweet girl he once knew isn’t as bubbly as she used to be, but is determined to bring her back however he can.
Pairing(s): Stan x reader (platonic present, romantic past), Ford x platonic!reader, Dipper x best friend!reader, Mabel x best friend!reader Bill x reader
Warnings: angst, fluff, mentions of hopelessness, mental manipulation, unrequited love, flashbacks.
A/N: The events and ideas are based on a theory I have about the Nightmare Realm. This is in no way canonically true, just my theories based on what we canonically know about the Nightmare Realm.
“Wait, New Jersey?” Mabel and Dipper questioned simultaneously.
I nodded as Stan gave me a look of, ‘don't tell them just yet’. I guess in a way Stan was right, I probably shouldn’t tell them about the fact I technically am 61 years old. So I decided to tell them a little white lie.
“Yeah, I grew up in New Jersey. Just like Stan and Ford did.”
“So, how did you end up here? Did you work with Ford?” Mabel asked curiously.
“Don’t be silly Mabel, she’s not old enough to have worked with Ford on the portal.” Dipper interjected.
“Then you must be his daughter!” Mabel beamed.
“No! I-I’m not Ford’s daughter.” I quickly tried to correct her.”
“Then are you Stan’s daughter?” Mabel questioned.
“No, I have no relation to them at all. It’s a long story that I’m not ready to share just yet.”
“But, you do know Stan. You said that you were sorry you left. So, what happened?” Dipper asked, ready to write it down on a notepad as if he was interviewing me.
Stan walked up behind the two kids before I had the chance to protest, “why don’t you two go wreak havoc or whatever somewhere else. I need to speak with Y/n.”
Mabel and Dipper groaned, but didn’t protest as Stan shoved them out of the gift shop. Stan walked back over to the chair he was sitting in. He gave a questioning look before he finally spoke up, “so, now that the kids are gone, tell me what you meant by you didn’t mean to walk through that stupid portal.”
I take a deep breath before speaking, “look, Stan, it was an accident. I was just doing some test runs on the mechanics. I was not prepared for it to start up and suck me in. I spent years trying to get back to you. I knew you’d be upset with me…I didn’t want to leave…” I answered.
“Then why were you building it in the first place!?” Stan was agitated.
“I…I wanted to win a Nobel prize or a huge patent so you and I could get out of that town. I wanted to give you the one thing you always talked about…to sail around the world on the adventure of a lifetime.
“I-I know I’m not the person you wanted to do that with…but I wanted to make you feel like you finally had someone who cared about you. I did care about you, more than you knew Stan.” I finally confessed.
Stan couldn’t even think of what to say. All these years he had blamed me for leaving him alone in the world again, but he didn’t know I had planned it out thoroughly. He felt like a jerk for judging me without knowing my true plan.
“Y-you were doing it…for me?”
I nodded, “I knew that either you could use the money to sail around the world, or bring the fortune to your family and make up for your mistake. Either way, I didn’t want the money or the fame, I was doing it because I thought it would make you happy.”
“And now I’m the jerk for blaming you after all these years…and I never really asked why you were doing it.”
I smile softly at hsi response. It wasn’t completely wrong. I wanted Stan to be able to rid himself of his guilt and move past his mistake. I had also been tricked into doing so, but I wasn’t ready to confess to him that if I had succeeded that he never would have gotten what I wanted him to get out of it.
“I think I was more upset that I lost the girl I was crushing on more than anything…” Stan confessed, rubbing the back of his neck.
“W-wait…y-you were crushing on me?” I was taken aback by his confession. I knew Stan liked me, but I never imagined he thought of me in that light.
He just nods, “that seems like a lifetime ago though. I’m different now than I used to be.”
“You and me both…” I look down at the floor knowing I probably opened a huge can of worms that I won’t be able to stick back in.
“I could tell. Whatever you saw in there, whatever you went through, must have been rough for you.”
“You have no idea.”
I floated in a daze. This place had no gravity, no sense of time, it was utter chaos.
“Well, well, well, if it isn’t dear ol’ sweet Y/n. What brings you here sweetheart?” Bill’s voice seemed to boom as it had really nothing to bounce off of.
“B-Bill? Where am I?”
“You’re in my dimension. Too bad your invention failed because if it hadn’t this would be released upon your dimension, and you and I could rule over everything! I could just imagine it.”
“Y-your dimension? This is where you live?” I was horrified at what I saw.
Bill was surrounded by strange and weird beings of chaos. I couldn’t believe I had been tricked. Had I truly succeeded, it would have meant the end of the world as I knew it, everyone I cared about would have been put in danger, and It would have been all my fault.
Bill starts to laugh his demented laugh, “yes! Welcome to the Nightmare Realm! A place where chaos reigns! Too bad you failed med, I could have used a partner in crime to help create chaos with me.”
“You tricked me! I trusted you!”
“If I told you my true plans you would have backed out of it. I had no choice, sweetheart.”
“Stop calling me that! I’m not your sweetheart anymore, Cipher! You tricked me, and almost made me destroy my world!”“Not my sweetheart anymore huh?” He looked like he was starting to get angry.
I knew I needed to get away. I started to float away from him as he called his henchmaniacs to catch me. I floated towards an asteroid field and was able to avoid getting caught. I slipped into the hole looking for sanctuary. That’s when I realized I wasn't alone.
After Stan and I talked things out, I needed to find something mindless to get my mind off of everything. I decided to try and get to know the young Pines twins better. They were both sitting in the living room watching TV.
“Hey kids.” I say softly, announcing my presence.
“Y/n!” They both exclaimed excitedly.
“I thought Stan was going to tell you to stay away from us or something?” Mabel blurted out.
I giggle softly, “no, Stan doesn’t mind me trying to get to know the two of you. Just, no questions about where I came from or about the portal, okay?”
“Ah, come on, just one question each, please?” Mabel begged.
“I’m sorry, but I’d rather not talk about what I’ve seen or been through. Not to mention, Stan and Ford both think it’s best you two stay away from that subject.”
“One question each, and then no more after that, please Y/n?” Mabel begged harder, flashing the biggest puppy dog eyes I’ve ever seen.
I sigh and give in, “okay, okay. One question each, but if I think it is too personal, I have the right to refuse to answer it.”
“Deal!” Dipper and Mabel exclaim enthusiastically.
“I’ll go first, how do you know Stan?” Mabel blurted out.
“Stan and I were friends at one point,” I see Mabel go to say something, but I stop her, “no Mabel, you cannot follow up with a question. The truth I’m sure will be revealed in due time.”
“Okay, can I ask how you knew I was going to ask that?” Mabel questioned.
“That’s an appropriate question and allows you to get to know me, so yes, that’s okay. I am a very perceptive person, I can read a person by just looking into their eyes.”
“That’s so awesome!”
“Okay, Dipper, which one of your billion questions are you gonna ask me? I can tell you’re the curious one.”
Dipper smiles and flips through his notepad, “where were you before you came out of that portal?”
I had to think about how to answer that without revealing too much. Luckily it was a fairly broad question, so I felt like I could answer this without revealing too much about myself, “I was in a place that I wish no one else to see, not even my mortal enemies.”
“Yeesh, that sounds horrible. You seem so…optimistic, how did you maintain that?”
“Is that too much of a revealing question!?” Mabel yelled as I went to answer.
“No, again it helps you two better understand who I am and how I function in difficult situations. Well, to be straight to the point and sort of sappy, the thought of returning home kept me optimistic. I’ve always been that way I guess, so maintaining that mindset was fairly easy considering the strain I was under.”
The kids continued to go back and forth on questions to get to know me as a person, the person I was before I went into the portal. The person I hoped was still in there somehow. In turn, they told me more about themselves, and I felt like I was really starting to bond with them.
“So, did you go to college?”
I shake my head, “as egotistical as it sounds, I felt like I was too good for college, like there was nothing it was going to teach me that I didn’t already know, you know? So, rather than spending thousands of dollars on education I felt was futile, I spent time doing what I loved, and looking for grants in other ways.”
“That’s possible?” Dipper questined, intrigued.
“Uh…sure. I definitely think you should pursue higher education. Don’t end up like me.”
Mabel went to ask another question when someone behind us cleared their throat. I turned to see who it was. Ford stood there and gestured for me to come with him. I nodded and stood up, “sorry kids, we can finish this later. It’s been really good talking to you two.”
The kids waved as Ford and I walked back into the gift shop and down to the basement. He didn’t say anything the entire walk down, and I was getting concerned. “Did I say something too revealing to the kids?”
Ford shakes his head, “no, I know you would try to protect them as much as Stan or I would. No, this is something much more serious. I found this while dismantling the portal.” Ford shows me a base and globe containing colorful glowing matter.
“I-is that what I think it is?”
Ford nods, “an interdimensional rift. I contained it, but I’m afraid that Bill may know about this…and will do anything to get his hands on it. I think this may also be the cause of your vivid dreams.”
My eyes widened, “you think that Bill might be heightening my connection to him and tormenting me into possibly making a deal so he can possess me to break the rift?”
Ford chuckles lightly, “it’s like you took the words right out of my mouth. I always forget how perceptive you are. Unfortunately, because of the connection Bill has with you already, encrypting your thoughts is going to be a difficult task to undertake.”
I take a deep breath, “I want to erase my memories then.”

Through The Portal: Chapter 2
Series Masterlist
Chapter Summary: The strange girl slowly begins to reveal her secret past and her true connection to the brothers, and her terrifying encounters with Bill Cipher.
Pairing(s): Stan x platonic!reader, Ford x platonic!reader, Bill x reader
Warnings: flashback, mentions of torture, angst, fluff, mentions of hopelessness, unrequited love, self confidence issues. Age gap (reader looks 21).
A/N: The events and ideas are based on a theory I have about the Nightmare Realm. This is in no way canonically true, just my theories based on what we canonically know about the Nightmare Realm.
The next couple of days were a bit weird. I didn’t sleep very well as thoughts of waking up in that dreaded world again ran through my mind. I hardly slept when I was in that dimension, and now sleep seemed to be something unfamiliar to me. It was strange not having to sleep with one eye open anymore. My body felt uneasy about it.
Mabel being the good hearted person she seemed, showed me around the house. She made sure I could make my way around easily and not have to worry about being awkward. She was a good hearted person, and definitely seemed like she had a heart of gold.
I noticed Stan had avoided me after his comment about me not changing a single bit. It was true though, I freaked myself out when I first looked into a mirror. Still looking like the 21 year old girl who disappeared 40 years ago.
I didn’t get stuck on that fact very long though, the thing I got stuck on was what he called me. Toots. A pet name I haven’t heard in a very long time. I felt like maybe this comment was also the reason he was avoiding me. It probably felt weird for him to call me that again after so long. I couldn’t imagine what was going through his mind though, what happened to me all those years ago? He probably thought I ran out on him after promising to stick with him after everything he had been through.
I walked along the beach trying to find scraps of metal, or plastic that could have washed up on shore. That’s when I noticed a man walking around with a metal detector. I decided to approach him wondering what wonders of the world he was looking for.
“Hello.” I smiled as I walked up to him.
“Oh, uh, hey.” He smiled back, taken aback a bit by my kindness.
“What ya doing with the metal detector? Find anything interesting?” I questioned.
“I’m searching for gold, but I haven’t found anything yet.”
“Gold? Not necessarily impossible, but very difficult here on the beach to find. Uless, you know you find a gold earring, necklace, or ring.”
“Huh?”
“And what are you doing looking for gold anyways?”
“I’m trying to make a fortune.”
“A fortune? Why?”
“You ask a lot of questions, don’t you?”
“So I’ve been told. I can’t help it. I naturally have a curious mind.”
“I can tell. It’s none of your business anyways.”
I looked him over, sensing a sort of sadness with him, “something happened and you owe someone money.”
His eyes widened, “can you read minds?”
I giggle, “no, but I’ve been told I can read people pretty well.”
“I’ll say. Yeah, I may or may not have ruined my brother’s chances of going to his dream school and making millions of dollars. My pa kicked me out because of it, and I’m determined not to go back till I make a fortune.”
“Woah, sadder than I thought it would be. Well, if you need a place to stay while you go on your mission to make millions, I have a spare room you can use. My parents' house is big enough, and they won’t mind.”
“A-are you sure?”
“It’s the least I could do. You look like you could use a friend in this lonely world, and I want to offer my friendship to you.He smiles and nods, reaching his hand out, “name’s Stanley.”
I smile and take his hand to shake, “nice to meet you Stanley, I’m Y/n.”
I walked downstairs trying to remember where the kitchen was. My nightmare last night disorienting me worse than they ever had. I walk in to see Stan making breakfast and the kids sitting at the table whispering to each other. That was till Mabel noticed I was standing there.
“Y/n! You’re awake!” She beamed as Stan froze in place.
“Morning Mabel, Dipper, Stanley.” I greeted everyone.
“Just Stan is fine, thank you.” He kept making breakfast, an unenthused look on face.
“Sorry, Stan.”
I walked over and sat at the table. I looked out the window at the woods surrounding the house. It wasn’t long till my gaze was yanked back towards the kids as they were staring at me. Mabel was smiling, and Dipper looked like he had a billion questions for me.
“So, did you and Grunkle Ford go through the portal together? Or how did you and Grunkle Ford meet?” Mabel broke the silence.
“O-oh, um…we met when he went into the portal. I didn’t meet Stanford until he went through the portal..”
“What was in there anyways? How long have you been in there?”
“Those are hefty questions, I…” I started to speak when Stan walked over with plates of pancakes.
“And ones that should remain unanswered.” Stan spoke, “I’m surprised you’re not helping my brother in the basement anyway.”
“Wh-what would I help with?”
“I’m sure Ford would figure something out. I think you should go ask him.” Stan stated, hinting that I shouldn’t be interacting with the kids. “Come on, I’ll show you where the basement door is.” He offered, gently guiding me out of the kitchen.
“Stan, what’s going on?”
“I don’t want you around the kids. Whatever happened to you there, it was unnatural. I don’t need them figuring out you’re supposed to be like 60.”
“You don’t think I know that? I understand that I’m a freak, but you don’t need to point it out. You have no idea what I went through, and how difficult it was to survive.”
“If it was that hard, why did you go through your darn portal in the first place?”
“I didn’t mean to.”
“Sure you didn’t.”
“Something went wrong Stan! I didn’t want to leave you. There was a malfunction, and I got sucked in. I’ve spent 40 years trying to survive hoping to get back to you, but I guess that doesn’t matter.” We stop at the entrance to the gift shop of the Mystery Shack, “I know where I’m going from here.” I say and walk through the door to the gift shop. I open the vending machine door and head down to the basement.
Stan had no right to judge me like that. He had no idea what I went through, how hard I tried to find a way back to him, but that didn’t matter to him apparently.
“Y/n?” Stanford’s voice rang out.
“Hey…”
“What are you doing down here?”
“Stan doesn’t want me upstairs around the kids.”
“What? I thought you two were friends?”
“We were…but he thinks the fact I am unaged…if the kids find out it’ll freak them out.”
“The nightmare realm really messed you up huh?”
“You have no idea…Bill was obsessed. Would do anything to get me to reveal where you were. He went as far as manipulating my mind to look like he was torturing Stan…he knew you two were my weakness…”
“Now talk! Or Stan gets it!” Bill threatened.
“You’ve used that on me too many times, Cipher! Stan isn’t here, and I know you wouldn’t go after him in the mind!”
“Is. That. Right.” Bill squinted at me.
“I don’t know how many times I have to tell you Bill, I don’t know who this Sixer fella is.”
“To think I was starting to like you, but the lying is getting annoying.”
“I’m not lying. I don’t know who he is.”
Bill snaps his fingers making chains appear around my wrists and ankles. He makes me levitate there as one of his henchmaniacs yells to electrocute me to get me to talk. Bill laughs and suddenly my body is sent spasming as hundreds of volts of electricity surges through my body.
“To think I actually liked you. You were the first person to try to build a portal from my decaying dimension to enter yours. I would have loved for us to be partners in chaos had you succeeded. Too bad you decided to lie to me.”
Bill stops electrocuting me for a minute. My body is weak as I float there in front of Bill and his henchmaniacs. “I-I don’t know where he is…he escaped this dimension years ago…”
“And the truth comes out. Maybe you’re still useful to me afterall.”
I shot up in the chair I was sitting in, cold sweat running down my forehead. I pant heavily as I take in my surroundings. I was in the basement with Stanford. I slowly remembered I wasn’t in the night realm anymore. I looked down at my wrists still feeling like I had chains on them.
“You okay?” Stanford’s voice broke me from my thoughts.
“These nightmares are getting more and more vivid.”
Stanford looks at me knowingly. His eyes are filled with concern and guilt. I knew he felt bad leaving us refugees in the asteroid when he decided to venture out to find materials to build his weapon to defeat Bill. I never blamed him though. He only did what he felt he had to do.
“Why don’t you head upstairs. I feel the longer you’re down here, close to the portal, the more of a grasp Bill will have on you.”
I nod, “what about Stan?”
“Tell him I told you that being down here isn’t good. You need to get accustomed to society again, and being down here is not going to be any good to you.”
I nod, “thanks Stanford.”
He smiles softly, “you know, you can call me Ford if you like.”
I smile softly, “thank you, Ford.”
He nods, and goes back to doing what he was doing. I head back upstairs feeling even more disoriented than I did that morning. The nightmares hit me harder and harder each time I close my eyes. I slowly opened the door to see Stan. Mabel, and Dipper are sitting in the gift shop laughing and joking with each other.
Stan notices me and glares, “what do you need?”
“Ford said it wasn’t a good idea for me to stay down there. He wants me to try and get accustomed to society again.”
Stan rolls his eyes, “fine. If you say so.”
“Look, you can be pissed at me all you want to, but I’m sorry I left you behind. I’m sorry it took me so long, but if you had never opened that portal, I wouldn’t be back here. I realized I never thanked you for doing so. So, thank you. Thank you for bringing me back home.”
Stan’s eyes widened. He wasn’t expecting either of us to thank him. He knew what he did was idiotic and reckless. He smiled at me softly, “you’re welcome toots. I couldn’t leave you there for any longer. But, New Jersey is your home, not Gravity Falls?”
“Gravity Falls is now. It’s where my two best friends are. There’s nothing left for me in New Jersey.”

Through The Poral: Chapter 1
Series Masterlist
Chapter Summary: A mystery girl comes through the portal with Ford. Little did anyone know she has a bigger connection to the brothers than anyone thought.
Warnings: Angst, fluff, age gap, flash backs, mentions of hopelessness, age gap (reader looks 21)
Pairing(s): Stan x platonic!reader, Ford x platonic!reader
A/N: Retelling of a Tale of Two Stans. The events and ideas are based on a theory I have about the Nightmare Realm. This is in no way canonically true, just my theories based on what we canonically know about the Nightmare Realm.
40 long years of waiting. Waiting and wondering whether the time would come if I would ever be able to go home again. 40 years of hiding in plain sight from the one they call Bill Cipher, a dream demon who reigns over the nightmare realm, the place I have resided in for 40 years. Unaged and unchanged physically, but mentally I feel like I’ve lived for centuries.
When I first arrived in the nightmare realm, I had found refuge with a group of asteroid miners. I wasn't sure how much time had truly passed when an unknown man joined us, Stanford Pines. He told us stories of how he managed to get there as escapes Bill's grasp.
That was a long time ago. It seemed longer than what it actually was. Stanford had gone off and managed to hop between dimensions, and here we're I standing at the ready to take down Bill for good, his quantum destabilizer complete and in hand.
“We have one shot at this.” Stanford whispered to me.
I nodded in agreement, but as we went to strike, a rift opened up in front of us. Stanford, knowing the stakes of this mission knew that either we walked through, or Bill would and wreak havoc upon our home dimension, so with a heavy heart we walked through entering back into our home dimension.
It felt surreal. After being gone for so long, I was finally back home. Yet, where I stood was not familiar to me. I recognised nothing. A dark space that was placed, I assumed, underground. I could hear the whirring of the machine as it fizzled and died. Home, a place I'd long forgotten, yet this place felt nothing like that. I felt like I was an imposter entering a realm I did not belong in.
Stanford and I stood silent. Taking in our surroundings. Unmoved by anything the people standing in the room were saying or doing. That was, till a man in a fez spoke up amongst the group.
“Finally, after all these years long years of waiting, you're actually here! Brother!” The man opened his arms, a goofy grin spread across his face.
Then Stanford punched him square in the face before speaking, “this was an insanely risky move, restarting the portal. Didn't you read my warnings!?”
Never had I seen Stanford so angry. Usually he was calm and collected. Even still, he may have lashed out, but he wasn't yelling, he was calmly speaking down to this man that claimed to be his brother.
“Wranings, schmarnings. How's about maybe a thanks for saving you from what appears to be some sci-fi sideburn dimension.”
“Thank you? You think I'm going to thank you after what you did 30 years ago!?” Stanford raised his voice for the first time since I met him. He always was soft spoken, and kind. Never have I heard someone draw such anger out of him. Not even Bill himself.
Something didn't seem right. The physical confrontation, the yelling. It all screamed something more beyond the surface of what I knew.
Stanford had pinned his brother to the ground after dodging his punches. That's when I noticed the three of us weren't alone. There were three others that joined us in the dark, dingy underground.
“Hey, hi, Mabel here. Quick question, what the heck is going on here?” A girl in a pink hand knitted sweater spoke up.
“Stan, you didn't tell me there were children down here. And some sort of large, hairless gopher.” Stanford quickly gained his composure as he looked between the three people we didn't even notice. The larger man chuckled at Stanford's comment, seeking unphased. I took quick note of this.
“They're your family poindexter. Shermie's grandkids.” Stanford's brother, or Stan as he supposedly goes by, gestured to the two young kids, I'm guessing, were twins.
“I-I have a niece, a nephew?” Stanford's voice turned to one of fondness before he knelt down in front of the girl, Mabel, reaching out to shake her hand, “greetings. Do kids still say greetings? I haven't been in this dimension for a really long time.”
“Woah, a six fingered hand shake, that's one finger friendlier than usual.” Mabel beamed.
Mabel's twin brother, who had been absolutely silent up until now, finally spoke up, “I-I can believe it. You're the author of the journals.” The boy then began to hyperventilate and almost threw up.
This whole thing felt like a lucid dream. I let Stanford get used to the new information he had received. I, on the other hand, had nothing to take in. I again, was lost in the world of unknowns. Maybe I no longer had a home to look for anymore.
“There'll be time for introductions later. But first, tell me Stan, are there any security breaches? Does anyone else know about this portal?”
“No. Just us. Also, maybe the entire US Government.”
“The what!?” Stanford's face was fuming. I never saw him so angry.
They all looked through the window where the security footage showed the government outside searching for Stanford’s brother and the two young kids. Everything was so chaotic right now, which I hoped wouldn’t be the case when we entered our home dimension. I guess chaos followed us wherever we went.
“Okay, it’s alright. We’ve got a while before they find this room. We just need to lay low and think of a plan.” Stanford stated, the calmness returned to his voice as he pulled out the journal he had picked up off the floor, and began to write in it.
“It looks like we’re going to be stuck down here for a while. Who wants to tell us their entire mysterious back story, and also, who is she?” Mabel stated, finally pointing in my direction.
“This is Y/n. She is a friend I met on my travels. Yes, though, I have some questions about all of this myself, Stanley.” Stanford finally introduced me.
Stanley? I had not heard a name like that in 40 years…a name so familiar to me yet so foreign all at the same time. An old friend from home. A friend I left behind all those years ago. There was no way this was the same Stanley. Right?”
“Stanley?” Mabel’s brother asked.
“But your name is Stanford.” Mabel pointed out.
Stanford’s face and mine said it all. What the hell was happening here? What had happened in the time Stanford was gone? Why had his brother assumed his identity? I hoped we both got the answers we needed.
“Wait, you took my name? What have you been doing all these years you knucklehead?” Stanford turned angry again.
Whatever happened between Stanford and his brother, it still hit a nerve with him. Something about Stanley made Stanford’s normal demeanor turn angry. A side I never thought he had. He was cunning for sure, but downright hateful was not on the list of traits I had listed for Stanford.
“”Okay, okay, okay. I know I have a lot of explaining to do. It all started a lifetime ago…” Stanley began telling his version of his life growing up with Stanford to everyone.
As he spoke, things started to piece together slowly in my mind. There was a reason Stanford and I were brought together. The more they spoke the more I connected my life to the eldest Pines twins. I reached into my pocket, there I kept a picture of my dear friend that I left behind. The one person I wanted to get back to the most. Stanley Pine.
“The old me was dead, and I faked a car crash to prove it. By day, I was Stanford Pines, mr. Mystery. But by night, I was down in the basement trying to bring the real Stanford back. I couldn’t risk anyone learning the truth and sabotaging my mission. So, I lied to everyone. The town, my family, your parents. Even you, kids.” Stanley finished his story.
Everyone was so enthralled in the story that the brothers were telling, we all forgot about the government agents upstairs. Dipper, I learned was the name of Mabel’s brother, had a device in his bag that could erase people’s memories. Stanford hooked it up and changed the frequency to sync to radio headsets.
We all plugged our ears as Stanford set the device off. Soon enough the agents were dazed and confused about where they were and what was going on. Stanford greeted them and sent them away, pretending to be a government official.
“Nice work Stanford.” I smiled as I walked up to him.
He smiled and placed a hand on my shoulder, “thank you, Y/n. How are you holding up?”
“I’ve been better. It’ll take some time to adjust, but I feel like I know you better than I did before, and your brother as well.”
“It’ll take us both some time to adjust, but I promise, as soon as we get settled in, and things quiet down, I’ll get you back home where you belong.”
I shake my head, “no. You and I are a team. I’m not leaving your side. Plus,” I pull out the picture of Stanley, “I think my home is here now.”
Stanford took the picture from me, “i-is this?”
I nod, “I didn’t recognize him at first. He’s older now, and with that fez, I couldn’t see his hair, I always said that was his most defining feature.” I laughed softly.
Stanford smiled softly, “I think you should get some rest. You and Stan can discuss this in the morning. I know of a room you can stay in, if it’s still there that is.”
I nod as Stanford leads me inside and to the room that he said used to be his. It consisted of just a couch and wasn’t much, but it was a place to rest my head at night, and probably more comfortable than a cold gravel ground.
I was settling in as I heard the brothers talking. Stanford said that at the end of the summer he was to give him his house back, his name back, and the Mystery Shack business was over with. I could hear the pain in Stan’s voice, and I felt sorry for him, but after what he told us today, I didn’t blame Stanford for being the way he was. Stan hurt him badly, and I didn’t blame Stanford for holding it against his brother
I was finally settled in when Stan knocked on the door. I sat up and invited him in. He had a few more blankets in his hand that he was ready to offer up.
“Y-you settling in okay?” He asked softly.
I nodded and smiled, “as good as one can. It’s been so long since I laid on anything other than the ground in years.”
“Ford tells me you’re originally from this dimension too?”
I nod, “yeah, I’ve been away for I think 40 years…the world definitely seems different now than it did in the 70s.”
“Th-the 70s?”
“Yeah, I know, kind of a while to be away from home. No trace left of me. Nothing left except my failed experiment.”
“Y-you didn’t happen to grow up in New Jersey too, did you?”
“I actually did…” I hesitate whether I should tell him I’m exactly who he thinks I am, but I also didn’t want to assume that’s where he was going, and overwhelm his mind.
Stan just nods and goes to leave. Before he does, he says one final thing, “how is it you haven’t aged a single day, toots?” With that he walked away, closing the door behind him.

Straight to the Heart
Summary: What if Mabel put the Love potion on the wrong fries, leading her and Wendy on a quest to find Love God after the festival, some bonding between Dipper and Stan, and an unexpected love story.
Loosely based on this request from @thebestusernamepossible: Mabel adventure, with anyone, I just like Mabel and think she deserves to star in a mission. Maybe some Stan and Dipper bonding, they are my fave underrated duo.
Warnings: Fluff, unexpected romance, self-conscious thoughts, mild angst.
A/N: This took me a while to figure out what to write about, then I watched the Love God Episode and I couldn’t resist. Also this is the first time I’ve attempted writing something like this. So, I hope you enjoy 🙂
Mabel didn’t mean for it to happen, caught in the moment of trying to set up Robbie and Tambry; she didn’t pay attention to whose fries she sprinkled the love potion over. It wasn’t until the cook bagged up the order and walked over and handed them to none other than Y/n. Mabel ran to try to stop her, but Y/n was insistent that she get back to the shack.
Mabel rushed out and followed her. Mabel only hoped those fries were just for Y/n and she could keep her in her room until the potion wears off. Mabel watched from outside the window hoping and waiting.
“Stan! I’m back with your lunch!” Y/n yelled, setting the bag on the counter.
This was Mabel’s chance, but before she could try to climb through the window, Stan walked in and took the fries out of the bag, and opened them, “Ugh, did you let Mabel touch my food again?” Stan groaned out.
“Of course not, why do you ask?” Y/n walked back in after she had put her stuff away.
“My fries have glitter on them.”
“You want me to take them back?”
“No, no, it’s fine.” Stan stated and ate a fry.
He looked at Y/n and suddenly felt something new, new and exciting. She suddenly looked so beautiful, more beautiful than he already thought she was. She started working for him many years ago when she moved to Gravity Falls after dropping out of college. He thought she was the perfect business partner, but nothing further developed between them. Stan secretly always had feelings for her, but not to this extent. He didn’t know how long he had been staring, but he soon realized she was giving him a concerned look.
“Everything okay Stan? Do the fries not taste good?” Y/n voice sounded worried and concerned. He wanted to say they were delicious, but her just standing there took every word from his brain from coming out in words.
“Perfect. I go now.” Was all he could get out as he took the rest of his food and bolted to the TV room. He thought he was safe to process what was going on.
Mabel, having watched this whole scene unfold, knew she had to undo what she did. She liked the fact that her Grunkle Stan was finally acting vulnerable, but this isn’t how she wanted him to confess his feelings for Y/n. She took off and went to find Wendy to help her find Love God and get the reversal potion.
~
Meanwhile, as Stan sits at the Game table in the TV room, Dipper walks in hearing his Grunkle talking to himself.
“Stan, you okay?”
“Dipper!” Stan sounded caught off guard, but also relieved, “you gotta help me!”
“Woah Grunkle Stan, what’s going on?”
“Something is happening to me. I was sitting in the kitchen eating the lunch I asked Y/n to get me, and suddenly, I took a bite, and looked at her, and she was standing there looking so beautiful. You’ve been in love with someone unattainable, right? You gotta know how to help me!”
Dipper rolled his eyes at Stan’s last comment, “look Grunkle Stan, maybe you finally realized that you have feelings for Y/N? It can come on suddenly.”
“Look, okay, I have sort of always had a thing for her, but I don’t what about today made her look so different.”
“Maybe your brain is telling you that maybe it’s time for you to tell her how you feel?”
“I-I don’t know. She’s just so…perfect. There is no way someone like her could be into a guy like me.”
“You never know. Why don’t I help you? I can help you come up with a romantic way to ask her on a date.”
“Y-you’d really do that for me kiddo?”
Dipper smiles and nods. Stan smiles back ready for whatever Dipper may have in store.
~
Mabel and Wendy meet at Wendy’s house to try to come up with a plan to find the Love God and reverse the spell.
“Look Mabel, is it really such a bad thing that Stan and Y/n become a thing?” Wendy asked.
“No, but I had a whole plan for that. They both have true feelings about each other. This throws off my whole plan. We have to reverse it. That and Stan was the only one that got the love potion.”
“Okay, so what’s the plan?”
“We have to find Love God, get the reversal and give it to Stan before something bad happens.”
“What could possibly happen?”
“She doesn’t return his feelings, he doesn’t eat, he doesn’t sleep. A lot of things Wendy!” Mabel yelled in panic.
“Woah, woah, it’s okay. We’ll figure it out. Don’t worry.” Wendy stated putting her hand on Mabel’s shoulder.
They devised a plan on how to get backstage to find Love God and to get his anti-love potion. Some of it fighting/punching Love God in the face knocking him unconscious, that bit being Wendy’s plan, but mostly sneaking around, and staying hidden to sneak the anti-love potion away from Love God.
~
“Okay Grunkle Stan, since you and Soos already planned on being at the Woodstick Festival, maybe you should ask her to go with you?” Dipper spoke to Stan as he got him changed into a nice new suit and tie.
“I-I don’t know kid. How do you know she is even interested?” Stan questioned.
“Just trust me Grunkle Stan. I’ll be there the whole time to help you if you need it. I promise.”
Stan let out a sigh and nodded, “okay kiddo, I’ll ask her, as long as you promise to step in and help me if my brain starts to do the thing it does where I just say whatever comes to it. Unless it’s a nice thing that is.”
“I promise. Now get out there and ask her on a date.” Dipper smiles and shoves his uncle out of the room to go find Y/n.
“H-hey Y/n…” Stan speaks up once he finds you in the living room watching TV.
She smiles at him, “oh hey Stan, you look nice today.” Her eyes check out his new suit and tie.
“Th-thank you. It’s new. Dipper picked it out for me,” Stan spoke nervously.
“It looks good. Kid did a very nice job. It suits you well.”
“Y/n, y-you know I was wondering if…I don’t know if you had plans tonight, but…um Soos and I are going to the Woodstick Festival…if you wanted to come with.”
She smiles fondly at him, “absolutely. I’d love to. Though, I didn’t think you liked the Woodstick Festival?”
“I don’t. Soos suggested I try to appeal to the young generation, saying I’m chasing away potential customers.”
“That’s a very good point.”
“So, you’re going with me?” Stan sort of smiled.
She smiled and nodded, “absolutely.”
“It’s a date then.” Stan chuckled then stopped once he realized what he said.
“It’s a date.” She smiled back.
~
After a few hours of getting ready for her date with Stan, they head off to the festival. Stan leaves Soos and Dipper to sew up the hot air balloon Stan planned, while he takes Y/n to a spot on the hill to watch the concert. He set up a little picnic for themselves and laid down a blanket. The night was looking perfect.
“I’m really happy you said yes to letting me take you on a date.” Stan stated as they sat down.
“Thank you for asking me to come. I always sort of liked you, Stan Pines. I was starting to wonder if you felt the same way about me.”
“I always have, but I never knew how to ask you. This afternoon though, it was like it was the easiest thing to realise and admit how I felt about you. Easier than anything I have ever done before.” Stan admitted.
Y/n smiles at him happily, “I’m glad it was.”
Stan smiled and pulled her close as they sat and watched the crowd below. Neither really paying attention to the music, but more paying attention to each other and the calm silence that fell between them. It was the easiest thing they had ever done was being here in the moment with one another. It was hard to focus on anything else.
Mabel and Wendy snuck into the festival. They had managed to get backstage and waited for the perfect moment to strike to steal the potion from Love God.
“Sound Check for Love God.” A stage manager came out and yelled at the van that he was in.
Love God came out and had his groupies mess his hair up before they all went backstage for the sound check. Mabel found her chance to hop in the back of the van where Love God left his belt of love potions laying around.
“Let’s see, summer love, puppy love, interspecies love, love of country music, ew. Ah ha! Anti-love, just spray on your victims and watch their heart die on the inside.” Mabel exclaimed in joy.
“Awesome, let's go find Y/n and Stan and spray them!” Wendy smiled from the side.
“Not so fast! So, you’re the person who has been stealing my potions,” Love God appeared out of nowhere, “I warned you kid, but you didn’t listen. Hey where you’d go.” He looked and realized Mabel and Wendy were running away from him.
He chased after them trying to get the potion back from them. They weaved in and out of the crowds. Love God even flew above them to try to catch them off guard, but with no luck. He finally had to do something that may throw one of them off guard, and that was visions of heartbreaks past. This affected Mabel more than Wendy, causing Mabel to give up the potion and it landing back in Love God’s hands.
“I’ll be right back toots, I’m gonna check on Soos and Dipper to see how the balloon is coming.” Stan smiled as he stood up.
Stan walked over to Soos and who were on the other side of the fence and asked how everything was going. He critiqued them on a few things, but the balloon was ready to lift into the air. Unfortunately, as the balloon lifted into the air, two letters ripped from the balloon, making the horrifying Stan balloon say ‘I EAT KIDS’ instead of ‘I HEART KIDS’.
Crowds were running and screaming from the monstrous balloon that now had caught fire. Stan, Soos, and Dipper ran off to follow where it was going. Y/n got up and ran after them, running at their heels. The balloon then settled down right on top of Love God, making him let go of the Anti-Love potion which he had finally let go of.
Once the excitement of the event settled, and the fire was put out, everyone turned and saw Stan and ran screaming and yelling, “he’s gonna eat us!” Y/n giggled at the remarks from everyone. After all the years of running away and secluding the business that could come from the festival, Stan was probably better off than trying to please the younger generation.
“Being loved by the youth is overrated, being feared, no that’s priceless.” Stan stated wrapping an arm around Y/n and patting Soos’s shoulder.
“I couldn’t agree more. You were probably better off steering clear rather than appeasing the youth anyways, but it made a pretty good first date story.” Y/n giggled, teasing him.
“F-first date? M-meaning you want more? With me?” Stan asked her in shock.
“Yeah, I’d love to go on another date with you, many more dates actually.” She smiled.
Stan couldn’t help but feel overwhelmed with happiness, he had no idea how it came to be, or what possessed him to even talk to Dipper about it, and get encouraged to ask her on a date, but he was happy he did.
“Y-you know, I wanted to ask you out for a while now, but I know the chaos of everything and running the shack with me, no time was really a good time, plus I never really knew how to tell you till today. I don’t know what you did to my fries, but whatever it was,” he grabbed Y/n by the hands, “I’m glad you did it because I would never have never gained enough courage to ask you out myself.”
Y/n smiles and kisses his cheek, “whatever stars aligned in our favor today Stan, I’m glad they did. You’ve always made me feel so special, but tonight has topped everything.”
Mabel watched their exchange unfold, and looked at the bottle. She couldn’t bring herself to spray them. They were happy and that’s all that mattered. Her Grunkle Stan finally had someone who could make him happy, and she was happy that person was Y/n. She did a lot for her uncle, and couldn’t ask for him to fall in love with anyone else.
“Having second thoughts there bud?” Wendy knelt down and whispered.
“They seem so happy, yeah it didn’t happen in the way I had planned, but maybe Grukle Stan is right, he would have never gotten the courage to ask her alone. Maybe he did need a push in the right direction. I can’t mess with the fate of their love Wendy.”
Wendy nods in response.
Stan turns to Dipper, “hey kiddo, thanks for the help. Without you, I may not have gotten that extra umph I needed to really ask Y/n out. You really helped me kiddo. You’re a true man Dipper.”
Dipper smiled at his uncle's praise, “thanks Grunkle Stan.”
The rest of the night the six of them sat and watched the concert happily as can be. It was the happiest any of them had been in a long time, and they all hoped that it would last a lifetime.

The Fateful Call
Request: I’ve had the idea of ‘what if the call had went through when Bill called Stan as Ford and threatened to off himself’ for a awhile, THE ANGST!!!
Warnings: Extreme angst, spoilers from the Book of Bill. Mentions of suicide, mentions of hopelessness, mentions of attempts, mentions of SI, mentions of SH. Some fluff at the end. DO NOT READ IF ANY OF THE AFOREMENTIONED TRIGGER YOU!!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
A/N: This was requested by @thebestusernamepossible, I hope this is as angsty as you hoped. I also feel wrong mentioning these themes without addressing sources. If you are feeling any of the aforementioned emotions, do not hesitate to reach out to someone, or to the 988 crisis number. You matter.
Ford had been through a lot with Bill fighting him on shutting down the portal, but nothing could prepare him for what awaited him when he woke up the morning after Bill took his body for a joy ride. Polaroids strewn across the floor of some of the things Bill had used his body to do; partying, getting a tattoo, assaulting a cop, and more. All horrible things that he will spend an eternity trying to fix, but nothing could have prepared him for the tape that Bill had made of the night's events.
Ford hesitantly put the tape into the VCR, and he watched the night's events unfold as Bill used him as a human puppet. Ford now knew why his hand hurt so badly. Bill had apparently repeatedly hammered a nail into his hand. All of that being horrible and hard to watch, but nothing could have prepared him for what Bill did at the very end of the tape.
Bill had used his body to limp up to a pay phone and type in a number. At first Ford didn;t recognize it, then the reality of the situation hit him. Bill just dialed the phone number at the end of an infomercial…Stan’s infomercial! Ford felt like vomiting, and he prayed the pay phone didn’t work, until he heard the line ringing.
“This is Panley Stines, what can I sell you today?”
“Hey brother, it's Sixer. I’m going to take a swim in the frozen lake tomorrow, and I might not ever come back, so if you don’t hear from me, I just want you to know that it;s because I never loved you. BUH-BYEEEE.”
“W-what?” Ford heard Stan’s voice stutter before Bill made his body hang the phone up.
Ford was hopeless. Bill would do anything to get him to start the portal back up again. His heart was in his throat. How could Bill do this!? Now Stan believed Ford hated him, and was going to kill himself tomorrow. What more torture could Bill do? How was Ford to fix this and let Stan know he wasn’t actually, but Stan would never believe him, or think that he was doing it to get attention. He sat there, tears stinging his eyes, for the first time in his life, not knowing what to do.
~
Stan was in his motel room. He had somehow bargained his way into being to stay there for a while. He hoped that someone, anyone would call and buy what he was selling now. He felt like he was in the lowest part of his life possible. He felt like he was a failure and a screw up and was having a hard time believing anyone loved, or even remembered him, especially his brother. It had been ten years since he talked to him, and as the years went on, it was harder and harder to convince himself that Ford still cared.
One night, Stan got a very unexpected phone call. He answered it thinking that it was someone calling to buy one of his many Stanco fails. “This is Panley Stines, what can I sell you today?” He spoke trying to sound cheery and hopeful. The voice that came back was one he was last expecting to speak back.
“Hey brother, it's Sixer. I’m going to take a swim in the frozen lake tomorrow, and I might not ever come back, so if you don’t hear from me, I just want you to know that it;s because I never loved you. BUH-BYEEEE.”
“W-wait…” the line went dead before he could say anything else.
Ford…he was going to do something to himself and Stan was states away. He had no idea where he was living these days, and knew, even if he did and drove all night, he wouldn’t reach him in time. Why would Ford call and tell him that for one, and two say it was because he never loved his brother. Something wasn’t right, but Stan didn’t feel like questioning it. What if that really just how Ford truly felt.
All the things tried to fight all these months he decided to stop fighting. The one person who kept him going all these years had just called and stated he was going to off himself and it was all because he didn’t love Stan. What was Stan supposed to do with that information? He couldn’t do anything. All the years of thinking about hurting himself, or offing himself, and feeling like he could never amount to anything came flooding back, and the only thing he felt in those dark moments was seeing Ford again one day, and now he will never get that chance. His brother would be gone by this time tomorrow and he was helpless to stop him.
Stan stared off into space deep in thought. Thoughts of joining his brother, or hurting himself just a little to make the pain in his heart and soul dissipate. He wanted himself to feel the physical pain as he felt it was easier to handle than the mental pain. The mental turmoil he was going through would be enough to drive someone absolutely mad.
~
Ford paced his cabin for what seemed like days. He refused to sleep, or eat, or do anything but pace until he figured out a way to fix things with Stan, or at least undo what Bill did. He absolutely refused to sleep again as he was afraid Bill might actually follow through with his plan, or much worse.
Ford knew the obvious, and that was to call Stan and explain that it was a prank, or he was told to do it against his will. He wanted to say that it was all untrue and that he loved his brother dearly which wasn’t untrue. Yes, he was upset about Stan costing him his dream school, but Ford could never not love his twin brother.
He knew what he had to do. He had to call Stan. Even if he told a little lie, it was better than nothing. He couldn’t let Stan believe he was dead, he couldn’t let him think that he was going to do something to himself because he didn’t love Stan. So, he swallowed his pride and called Stan.
~
Stan bandaged himself up again in the motel bathroom when he heard the phone ringing. His gut fell, he hoped this wasn’t the call he was dreading all day to get. He took a deep breath and answered, “Panley Stines, what can I sell you today…?” He tried his best to sound cheerful, but it was hard as he awaited for the voice to say they found his brother.
“Stanley?” The voice sounded hopeful, and exhausted.
“Ford?” Stan didn’t know whether to be happy, or angry.
“I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean any of it. I’m not going to do anything to myself. I was held against my will by a group of bikers in town after I…well I was being me and they forced me to call you…”
Stan couldn’t believe what he was hearing. It wasn’t a surprise that his nerdy brother had gotten himself into trouble by mouthing off his science-y words to people. It was laughable, but he refrained himself as he responded, “you still aren’t good in social settings, huh Sixer?”
They chuckle on the other end made him feel like they were kids again, “guess not. I had to call though, I wanted you to know that I didn’t mean any of it…” Ford wanted to say that he loved his brother, but he couldn’t get the words to come out, “I-I have to go, but I needed to call.”
“Stanford?” Stan wanted to say he loved his brother, but the words couldn’t come out, “don’t ever call me saying that again.”
They both chuckled before they hung up. That was probably the closest to saying they loved each other that they would ever get. Both feeling relieved to know the other one was still out there in the world, even if they didn’t talk again.
