I’m having cartoonish week from Hell, but today there was a little boy in the waiting room with an Eevee plush, and I told him I liked his Eevee and asked if he was hoping for any particular evolution.

Suddenly he was too shy to do anything but stare at me and hold out his Eevee, but then his father spoke up and said, “What matters is that Eevee becomes what Eevee wants to be. As long as Eevee’s happy, that’s what’s important.”

So somebody’s doing parenting right, at least.

How is it that I, a Fang fangirl for 23 years, managed to not know about Sonic Superstars until two months after its release??!!! I NEED THIS GAME IN MY LIFE.

Also, I am totally psyched because I have never cared for Nack's characterization in either Archie or Fleetway comics. He's either too stupidly incompetent (the Triple Trouble "adaptation" was painful to read, so, so painful), too evil, or both. I always felt that if the games further developed his personality, it would be something palatable to me. And from everything I've just looked up about his expanded personality in Sonic Superstars material, I'm right! They characterize him as greedy and a crook, but not really evil. He presents as calm, cool, and collected until things blow up in his face and then he gets cowardly and runs. (Sounds like a certain badly scarred blond fellow I love to write for.) He's also willing to work with the good guys (if he's paid for it, lol). He makes up funny nicknames for most characters, like Sonic is Fleet-feet. But he doesn't have a nickname for Knuckles, indicating he respects Knuckles.

I want to role-play this version of Nack now. He sounds so fun! I really, really hope we'll get a figure and maybe even some TV appearances with this characterization.

It feels so good to finally get a fic going again that was stalled for years. Suddenly, after years of drought, the floodgates open and the right words and plot twists come pouring out.

I have written three chapters of The Night of the Magician this week and will soon post a fourth. I took things in a different angle than I'd planned on years ago, but that was because I had to accept what I'd known all along, that the original outline in my blurb made no sense. I do not think Count Manzeppi would deliberately go to extreme lengths to antagonize one of his enemies just when he finally achieved what he wanted. Plus, there wouldn't have been time to do all that plan would entail. I struggled for several days on how to fix the problem with the new angle taken, but I have it now!

Also, it's fun having Malcolm show up to annoy Coley. I must have 5Ds in there somewhere. ;)
