I am once again returning to educate everyone on the chemical composition of drugs. Not because I take them, but because at heart I‘m a chemist that gets really excited about all sorts of funky substances messing with our bodies.

Portrayed here: Psilocibin, or rather its metabolic product psilocin, which is the substance having an actual effect on the brain due to its structural likeness to serotonin. It is generally found in a whole bunch of different mushrooms, as the painting portrays, which of course does not mean I would suggest you go searching for them.

This took so long I grew absolutely sick of drawing it. It’s done. I’m finished. No more touching up on details.

Shoutout to the Dainsleif quests though for containing 90% of all the angst in the game’s story.

Thinking about the travels Albedo and Rhinedottir went on together fascinates me in so many ways, the worms truly be braining.

(also I desperately need to practice drawing environments, so I did a very rough study of one of the domain backgrounds in the game and adapted it slightly, I don’t remember which one it was though)

It has been brought to my attention that this caption was worded quite unfortunately. To clarify:

I have never done magic mushrooms and probably never will, because losing control of myself is a terrifying thought

It is obviously the frog that is high, not on psilocybin (the hallucinogenic compound in magic mushrooms), but on muscimol, which is found in the fly agaric (amanita muscaria) and portrayed in this painting. While muscimol has been observed to be consumed by reindeer for its hallucinogenic effects (although it works in a different mechanism compared to psilocybin), this mushroom can cause considerable digestive and neurological issues, thus I would not suggest consuming it
