I've been feeling witchy lately, after a long period of feeling it less. And tonight, a friend of mine was waiting to hear if they'd get an upgrade to a bed pod for an overseas flight, so I decided to do a really simple luck spell (below) for them. Within 20 minutes of my doing the spell they had an email from the airline saying they got the bed pod, and I am totally taking credit for it, so there. Maybe the universe knew I could do with some confidence in my spellwork. 😂

The spell wasn't much, but just for a record of it, I invoked the elements, got a green birthday candle, dressed it with an oil blend containing lavender, patchouli, orange, tangerine, and sandalwood oils (it was only later that I realized it was literally a "Peaceful Sleep" blend and loled), rolled it in mint, lit it, grabbed a piece of aventurine, and set to work setting my intention. I probably could have come up with some kind of rhyme about the airline coming through with a bed for my friend to rest their tired head, but I didn't, and kind of just informed the candle and the stone of my intention that my friend have luck with the bed pod, and asked for their help and the elements'. It was a pretty quick, breezy spell, but I am happy that it seems to have worked and now my friend doesn't have to have their jet lag exacerbated by their not being able to sleep on the plane. Everyday magic. I like it.

1) Yes! You can buy sage! You really, truly can! Buy it from either native sellers (go to a powwow! Eat our food, buy our stuff, watch some dancing!) Or buy it from a seller who sources the sage from native people. Pick one. And no, buying it from 5 Below doesn’t count.

2) you CANNOT smudge. This isn’t just you “shouldn’t”— this is a YOU ARE INCAPABLE OF SMUDGING. Waving a sage stick around your doorways IS NOT SMUDGING. It is smoke clensing. Smudging, depending on the tradition and tribe, could easily have dancing and drums involved. You, as a white person, do not have the cultural BACKGROUND to even know how it works. At all. Period.

3) please, for FUCKS SAKE, stop making posts here on tumblr where you tell other white people about cultural appropriation and what they can and cannot do. Please stop, your license has been revoked because none of you bother to get the facts right. We native people are FULLY CAPABLE OF DOING IT OURSELVES. Consider instead: a) reblogging our posts where we talk about it! We’re here! We have made posts!! b) Making a post that states what we said and then LINKS BACK TO US. I took the time to play around with some new inventory today 🌠🌙

Quiet Seas Calming Charm

This is for those days where you can’t seem to get your anxieties or stressors down. The ocean has always been a calming thing for me and this spell just popped into my head. I figured it might help others, so I’m sharing it on here!

Seashell -  to represent the oceans heartbeat, the calming waves

Lavender - calming/peace and happiness

Chamomile - purify and calming

Sea salt - purifying

Rosemary - mental strength

Blue candle - represent the ocean itself

White candle - purifying

Grind up the herbs in a mortar and pestle. Pour the herbs into your seashell. Imagine peace and happiness as you pour.

Once done, light the white candle. Use it to light the blue. Take one in each hand. Drip and blend the waxes together onto the herbs. This should cover them and make them adhere to the shell. If you’d like to tie it to you specifically, as it is drying, make a fingerprint into the wax.

Carry with you and rub the shell or wax to call on the calming spell. To recharge, put under the full moon.

I hope your stressors and anxieties lessen. <3
