Hope it's alright to add onto this.

The structure of the substrate (luciferin, but can be other proteins) creates the color of the light produced. Umbreon uses a photoprotein+luciferace+calcium -> light + byproduct reaction and the shiny gene alters the structure of those photoproteins! Since the photoproteins are catalysts and not consumed in the reaction, theyre all abnormal (produce blue light instead of yellow)

Technically there could be umbreons with extremely rare mutations where the photoproteins mutate to show a totally different color, but its unlikely. Although still rare, sometimes shiny chimera pokemon can have both normal and abnormal photophores (the glands that produce the bioluminescent light) which is very cool!

Umbreon use specifically yellow light in their bioluminescence as its often very effective to lure in bugs and nocturnal pokemon who rely on the moon to navigate. They also use their light as an indication of how theyre feeling, much like wagging a tail.

Would a melanistic eevee result in a "regular looking" umbreon if it evolved at night?

pretty much, yes. you might see some difference in eye color, but the color of the bioluminescent pattern is determined by the structure of the luciferin they produce. excess melanin won't affect that!

shiny umbreon, on the other hand, produce blue light because the shiny gene modifies how they produce luciferin slightly, giving their light a different color.

After a couple hours of stylering, Ajornatorsiut is feeling much less.. Muder-y. Aigiarssuk says she’s doing well!

We have many other pokémon who live up here, but most don’t have unique forms. Lycanroc in specific isn’t found on the mountain, but can be found down in Likyo in the woods.

I’ve been watching the cameras I set up around the base, and… she’s still here… I’ve given her the name Ajornatorsiut since I see her so much- It’s a fitting name for her- It means problem!

Did some doodling on my cast! I really like wiglett, and I really miss them…. You can see the baltoy who broke my arm in the first place in the bottom! I decided to catch him, and my friend helped me name him Topsy Turvy.

I’ve been in Unova recently, and I’ve been looking at all of the unique pokemon- One of which being this baltoy I met in the desert! Unfortunately, it decided to explode me and I now have a (minorly) broken arm. I’m keeping it, most likely!

are all espeon in your neck of the woods that fluffy? i'm sinnohian, and mine has very short, almost velvet-y fur. i also have a friend who owns a shiny one, and his is much the same- albeit with a more 'shimmer'y property.

They are, and infact most mammalian pokemon here are that fluffy! Temperatures here are extremely harsh and so pokemon who don't have that warmth die. Our eeveelutions here have enough genetic variations from the kantonian line that they are classified under a different species, as a regional variant.

Everician eevees especially have thick tails, as they can use them as pillows to curl up and stay warm in lows of -30°c!

A beautiful everician togekiss! Unfortunately, she’s taken up territory right beside my runs for the eevees, and will certainly try to rip my eyes out if I try to relocate her and her flock… She already broke all the balls i used to try capture her :(
