BIG ANNOUNCEMENT

If you are interested in keeping up with anything I write in the future, please follow me on my new blog @cavernsandcod !!!

I will be posting new works only there (with the exception of Sweet Thing and Belladonna); I am not moving my entire masterlist to it. I will not deactivate lunarw0rks, so that all my old works will remain here and AO3 as an archive.

After everything I was feeling last night about the algorithm, bots, interaction, I decided that a fresh start may be best for everyone—mainly me.

The "new blog" will just be a rework of my main blog that I hadn't used much before. Hopefully, this will be better for everyone because I can actually follow them from there (as I cannot on here).

I've had this sideblog for nearly two years and it started on a high then eventually tapered off as the site, me, and COD in general changed. So, I'm thinking a revamp with fresh eyes might help connect with other blogs better.

Anyways, I hope anyone who needs to sees this <3

i have something to get off my chest // vent

the algorithm on this site is making me lose confidence day by day. my posts get next to no traction, interaction, or push. i'm not saying any of this for pity because i know it's literally my fault the blog is going dead.

i went on hiatus for quite a while, closed my requests, and hit a heavy writer's block. would chip away at certain drafts with only a word or two-- only to lose motivation all over again and stop writing. so i get it.

and now, with my newest fic, i just don't feel confident in it. i'm still working on the next chapters and they will be posted. but i feel like i'm doing it all for nothing lately. like nobody is seeing or reading the content because they've gotten bored of my works, or maybe me. or maybe it's just a shadow ban causing this?? has anyone gone through something similar? i feel like i'm at a loss.

i used to get asks daily, new notifications, and now there's none. i just want to know how to fix this issue without:

1.) changing my entire writing style/content

2.) burning myself out

3.) purging everything (although i'm v tempted as i type this lol).

i really miss having active followers & talking with you all. it was one of the main motivations for keeping active when i created this blog and posted my first fic. i have a very busy schedule and can't always be on here, but i need to know that spending hours working on something will be worth it. to at least know that people are enjoying it and want more.

i know a lot of other cod creators on this site have felt similar and went on leave or deactivated entirely because of similar issues or overall treatment on their blogs, which is terrible to see.

i'm on the fence about taking requests right now or writing at all for that matter. the way i've seen writers treated on this app lately is enough to steer me away.

also, i'm debating if i should clear out this blog entirely and start fresh. maybe clear out my masterlist & keep old works on ao3?

decidedly unfriendly reminder that fanfiction is written by real people with real feelings for free in their free time. it's a labour of love and something to cherish. if you come across a fic that you don't enjoy, that's totally fine, but it is your due diligence as a fellow fan and decent human being to click away. leaving mean comments, absurd rating systems or harassing writers in their inbox while hiding behind an anonymous icon is not an acceptable manner to behave in any fandom and online space ever. it's disgustingly entitled, wildly disrespectful and only serves to discourage people from sharing their writing in a community that is meant to be fun and supportive. the next time you read something you don't enjoy, stop reading it and move on with your day. read something you like and leave kudos and a nice comment there instead. have some common sense and don't be a fucking asshole. it's not that fucking difficult.
