I wish more people understood that being habitually uncomfortable with or hostile to masculine and butch women as a woman is also a form of internalized misogyny

“If I have one message to give to the secular American people, it’s that the world is not divided into countries. The world is not divided between East and West. You are American, I am Iranian, we don’t know each other, but we talk together and we understand each other perfectly. The difference between you and your government is much bigger than the difference between you and me. And the difference between me and my government is much bigger than the difference between me and you. And our governments are very much the same.”
― Marjane Satrapi, Iranian graphic novelist

Queer as in an "identity is fluid and descriptors can be imprecise so I prefer a more general term" sort of way but also queer in a "What are you, a cop?" sort of way.

go on more walks. walk for no reason. walk to solve a problem. walk to blow off steam. walk to get outside. walk to listen, read, and learn. walk to escape distractions. walk to improve your health. walk to think. a simple walking habit can change absolutely everything.

I just rewatched Poison (1991) for the first time in probably 17 years. I can see why I didn't seek it out again before now. The narrative is made up of three different and, as far as I can see, unrelated storylines. It was cited in Senator Helms railing against the National Endowment for the Arts at the time as an example of the "abominations" the endowment funded, even though he had never seen it. Honestly, that's a recommendation all on its own.

It makes me so happy when my Moonlight (2016) posts get notes during Pride month. Barry Jenkins' film is a modern classic for so many reasons. It has everything: nuance, intersectionality, believability, and an ending that feels hopeful without being saccharine.
Plans cancelled: I have to spend some time with Chiron and Kevin.

I just realized we're down to nine days left in Pride month, and I've watched a grand total of ONE queer film. Obviously, I need to rectify this immediately.
First up is D.E.B.S (Angela Robinson), a light-hearted, fun-filled spy comedy that came out the same year as Brokeback Mountain (2004).
#pride month#angela robinson#d.e.b.s.#the one mentioned above is Desert Hearts 1985#featuring the most frustrating older blonde lesbian ever to exist#so it has that going for it!
