I would argue though that the bigger effort/time spent can make the result feel all the more satisfying, though.

way way back in the GSC days I dropped my gameboy while catching a spinarak and thought it had become a shiny. turns out that I just had jostled the cartridge JUST enough to apparently change the color palette the screen showed, and so id spend that whole playthrough wiggling the cart for different palettes

Oh man that’s awesome. I never got any success out of doing any catridge tilting when I was a kid. Cartridge tilting was basically the precursor to rom corruption and there’s a ton of youtube videos of people doing it if you search for them.

It’s cool and interesting mechanically/electronically but it seems like it would take even longer to get any meaningful results out of it than rom corruption.
