Hey uh has there been.... news of people using ai to write fics in ao3? I'm not naming names but i've noticed this one author in the wriolette tag that replies to comments with the exact same template, exact same template too for fics that isn't wriolette. They write alot of character studies with alot of one sentence paragraphs.

I guess i'm concerned is all

I think the worst part of Nathan being such a mess is that Genshin has PROVED that they’re willing to do specific research on separate areas (Chenyu Vale, Tsurumi being based on Hokkaido/the Ainu people, Watatsumi being based on Ryukyu) but when it comes to other cultures HYV is just willing to half ass everything and just mix and match different cultures AND not even try to give them the respect they deserve (just filling it with out of place modern stuff and then sidelining the one character that actually fits in the rest of Genshin)

Yeah that is exactly why the culture thing is such a mess and they've waved it off as 'genshin is a fictional world not meant to represent a culture'. Proceeds to get an actual opera singer for yunjin.

It's clear that they CAN take multiple cultures and use them as inspirations for a single nation while being respectful about it. Natlan can totally work too, real life archipelagos has multiple different cultures that can still represent the nation. But i guess they didnt bother when tribal clothes arent aesthetically pleasing enough to sell

I only recently started using tumblr again and let me say, it sooo refreshing to see someone else who's disappointed in how Natlan turned out. Most of the stuff I see ( I mainly use youtube,) is so positive about it and I just can't understand why. I literally haven't played much since December because I'm just not interested in any of the Natlan content.

ps sorry for the ramble/rant, it's just so validating to see others that feel this way about the game

I hope you know I'm physically holding myself back from throwing the word 'shill' out at this. Because at the end of the day I can understand on youtube that is their work, their channel is about reviewing, and every character in genshin is someone's favourite. But i draw the line in throwing out 'hater' senselessly and praise genshin for doing the bare minimum.

I am disappointed because genshin themselves had established a level of quality and expectations from mondstadt to fontaine. I simply think they didnt reach that level of care for natlan.

I stopped playing genshin almost a year ago and my life got so much better as a result because i would spend hours being angry at this game's lore and tone inconsistencies. And now I don't and get to play other games that don't make me angry. I still had a lot of fun playing it, and Iearned a lot about mythology as a result of watching lore videos. Leaving it was hard, but it was a very good choice in the long run.

I'm still lurking in the fandom a bit, because I can't wait for the shitstorm that is going to be snezhnaya (I'm russian if this adds any context)

That's fair. I have other better complete and high quality games I play and the only reason I'm still playing genshin is since I do actually love the world. I treat Genshin more like a sandbox these days for art and story inspirations or deep dives. And I'm still holding hope for Snezhnaya.

If they do fuck up Snezhnaya then I'm perfectly happy with kidnapping the Fontaine cast away from Hoyoverse and pretending they're my own OCs i can play with.

I'm honestly 50/50 on this. I do care about appropriate skin color and representation but fixing that alone will not do shit if quests and character personality is ass. Like idk you can talk about proper skin color and all but if the character is written like ass or non existant is that REALLY what you want to be represented with?

I wouldn't have a say in this, i'm not part of the culture and all. To me it matters if a character is written well no matter how they look, but it does matter when it's kinda obvious certain........ nations and characters are treated with less care.

Does anyone else find it odd that there isn't another Pyro character from Natlan? Like yeah Mavuika is cool but, each nation has other characters of the archon's element. And I mean playable characters that lady from the Springs does not count.

No because pyro characters only sells when they're dpses and they refuse to make anyone that even BEGINS to threaten their perfect god queen Mavuika as the bestest pyro dps ever /HEAVY SARCASM

sometimes he seems to know exactly what is happening five floors below, and inmates joke that it's some sort of magic, but they know that the Duke is simply well-informed and uses the in-built security system to keep on top of things... surely that's all there is to it

a young Wriothesley was once pursued by a handful of other inmates who wanted to kill him for a perceived slight. he ducked into the shadowed hallways of the lower levels, took turn after turn, and eventually made his way to a safe room where he could hide for the night. the next day, he learned that the other inmates never made it to their morning shifts

his footing is always sure on the walkways, he never loses his way, and he can always tell when there's something up with the machinery at first glance

sometimes he wakes up in the middle of the night with the taste of copper in his mouth, and he mistakes it for a memory of blood... but every time, he gets up and he finds that something has happened that requires his attention - usually the violent kind

he doesn't think there's anything special to it all, but Sigewinne sees. Sigewinne knows. she'll cross that bridge in a few decades, when Wriothesley realizes that he's stopped aging
