writeblr intro!
Tumblr media
Well, hello there! Welcome to my page! Thought I'd finally get around to writing and pinning an intro, seeing as my writeblr recommendations post has gone STRATOSPHERIC and I've followed so many new accounts!
I'm Jeb (he/him), 19 years old, and an aspiring writer, poet and bisexual disaster dork from New Zealand (who currently lives in the UK - England, to be more precise). I'm a huge lover of writing and reading science fiction works, particularly hard sci-fi - Arthur C. Clarke's Space Odyssey series and his novel The Songs of Distant Earth were the works that inspired a young me to start taking writing seriously. I also write fanfiction, romance, horror, a smidgen of fantasy, spy fiction... whatever takes my fancy, basically! I also love writing and reading poetry, and hope to have some of my poems published professionally by the end of 2023!
Outside of writing, I'm a huge motorsport lover. Formula One is my main passion, and in fact I originally joined tumblr to post about my then-WIP, The Edge Of Control. TEOC may be in cryogenic storage, but my love of speed and high-octane racing remains: I regularly watch F1, IndyCar and the World Endurance Championship. I also love spaceflight, astronomy, Shakespeare, teen movies from the 80s/90s (ESPECIALLY John Hughes' work), many cheesy romcoms and lasagna. (What? It's literally the perfect food!)
Right, now with all that out of the way, let's get onto the real good stuff... (sorry in advance for the lack of taglists, I haven't remembered how they work!)

USF SPEECH SNEEK PEEK
In the vast expance of the universe, it is impossible for humanity to be its sole inhabitor. In the near future, we may reap what we sow as a result of brodcasting our progress throughout the universe. Perhaps as a way to make ourselves more interesting or as a way to communicate with extratarrestials. However, is it the most intelligent thing to broadcast our existence to a potentially dangerous species? A species that does not share our morals, our code of conduct, and most importantly, our empathy for other sapiant spieces. currently, we can only conseptualize only three types of alien socities. The parasitic spieces, a hive-like spieces, and a techlologicly superior spieces. Moreover, these theorized spieces may not even view us as intelligent and may view us the same way we view the humble ant colony. This is why for humanity for ensure we have a good first contact with extratarrestials, we must do two things: we must come togeather under a common flag when the fate of the world is at stake and we must bolster our planitary defences.

While the idea of coming togeather under a common flag may not be appealing to all the global leaders, for fears of losing athority over their countries in times of strife. It is a neccessity when the fate of the spieces is at stake. Furthermore, it ensures that those living under those athorities have a chance to live, create, work, and survive whatever force may endanger us. In an ideal world these things would be handled democraticly with voting from the people of the nations and in turn, voting from the leaders of a nation. ultamatly the desision will be made by the planet and its people under a common flag. Alternativly we can remain seperated and decide through military power who shall lead the earth into the future. However, when the dust settles and the victor is named, we may not have a planet to fight for anymore and our spieces would be as doomed as it would have been had an alien spieces glassed our planet. With this in mind, take a minuite to imagine a world that does not squabble over the metals in the ground, or the right to a piece of land bacasue of its elements. Where humanity does not fight over food, land, water, or wealth. A world at peace. Moreover, if we can not settle differeces be it with relligion or claim to a terratory. If war is unavoidable it can be decided off-world. let petty wars be fought off-world to ensure humanity is safguarded from the horrors of nucular annilation and the dread of war. This not only ensures civilians are safe but to also ensure that those whom wage war can state their cause is just by recruting people to fight in space for said cause. Making it more difficult for those to endanger the lives of civilians with petty wars. While many wouldn't take to this for fears of their cause being unjust and therefore, people not enlisting. Some might to to acts of terrorism to make political statements, others may turn to activism to change policies. while these are welcome in countries in which it is permitted others will disagree and fight tooth and nail to not be involved in a world government. Others will welcome the oppertunity and reap the benafits of said allience.
These benafits should include, access to technology, building methods for arcatecture, orbital defence from below and above in the senerio of hostile invasion be it foreign or domestic. These will be the first steps in ensuring humanity's safty as well as a global standard for technology which allows for a greater understanding of said technology and faster distrabution of innovations in technology between nations. universiel standard for education and garentieeded resources when innovations are made. furthermore, to ensure this new form of government is never used against the people. To rule over then and exploit the people they are tasked with protecting. the people will have the right to bare arms and this right shall not be infringed upon by any government offical or state or system. Any government offical that violates these rules shall get the sword and it shall be weilded by the people to strike down corruption and manipulation where ever when ever it spawns.
These ideas are radical because they are so different from what we are accustomed to. Becasue of this many will label me a madman. However, I ask of you would you rather have a world of peace, or a world of perpetual war, conflict, strife, were the world could be ended with the press of a button or worse. We are culled by any alien spieces that wishes to, simply on a whim. we must come togeather under a common goal, under a common flag. To ensure we are not vaporized out of existance again like many species have on our planet. we must understand that with this technology we could be mining gold, iron, cobalt, and a myriad of other elements. We could be assembling great ships that take our spieces to the next planet or our own moon. We could be so much more than what we are if we put aside our differences and come togeather for the sake of our spieces.

Humanity's Cosmic Quest: Expanding to the Stars for Resources and Rare Metals with the Aid of AI
As the Earth's resources dwindle and humanity's thirst for technological advancement continues unabated, the idea of venturing beyond our home planet becomes more than a dream; it evolves into a necessity. In the not-so-distant future, humans may embrace the cosmic frontier to secure crucial resources and rare metals that could fuel our civilization for generations to come. The stars hold the promise of untapped riches, but the success of such an endeavor would heavily rely on the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) as our invaluable cosmic ally.
The Allure of the Stars: A Galactic Gold Rush
The cosmos presents a plethora of celestial bodies teeming with valuable resources. Planets, asteroids, and moons are believed to house vast deposits of rare metals such as platinum, gold, and palladium, along with other essential elements like helium-3 and water ice. These invaluable resources could revolutionize various industries, from energy production to advanced electronics, but accessing them requires stepping beyond Earth's confines.
Resource Extraction Beyond Earth
Traditional mining methods may prove inadequate for cosmic resource extraction. However, in the not-so-distant future, humanity may perfect advanced mining technologies such as automated mining drones and self-replicating robots, capable of navigating the harsh environments of celestial bodies and extracting valuable materials efficiently. AI will be the cornerstone of these technologies, enabling these machines to adapt, learn, and optimize their operations as they traverse the cosmos.
AI's Role in Stellar Navigation and Exploration
Before resources can be extracted, humanity must first identify promising celestial bodies worth exploring. AI will play a pivotal role in analyzing vast amounts of astronomical data to pinpoint potential targets for resource-rich locations. Advanced machine learning algorithms, guided by human input and historical geological data, will help identify ideal candidates for resource extraction missions.
Additionally, as space missions extend farther into the cosmos, AI will assist in autonomous navigation, ensuring spacecraft reach their destinations safely and efficiently. By continuously analyzing and adapting to various space conditions, AI-powered systems can optimize fuel consumption and maneuvering, saving resources and time during these ambitious missions.
Sustainability in Space: AI-Driven Recycling and Reuse
Space missions are resource-intensive endeavors, but AI can aid in sustainable practices to maximize resource utilization. Advanced AI systems will oversee recycling and reuse programs, ensuring that every ounce of extracted material is put to valuable use. Self-repairing and self-replicating AI systems may reduce the need for frequent resupply missions, thereby cutting down on waste and conserving precious resources.
AI as an Interstellar Crew Member
As humanity ventures deeper into space, the need for AI to function as crew members will become more pronounced. AI systems equipped with advanced neural networks and natural language processing will support human crews during long and solitary space journeys. They will provide companionship, assist with daily tasks, and analyze data, allowing astronauts to focus on mission-critical objectives and maintain optimal mental health during extended periods of isolation.
Ethical Considerations and AI Governance in Space
The integration of AI into space missions raises ethical concerns that cannot be overlooked. Clear guidelines and robust AI governance frameworks will be essential to ensure the responsible use of AI in cosmic endeavors. Safeguards must be implemented to prevent AI from operating beyond its designated boundaries, and contingency plans must be in place in case of unforeseen circumstances involving AI systems.
Conclusion
The idea of humanity's cosmic expansion in search of resources and rare metals is not mere science fiction; it is a realistic vision for our future. As we embark on these ambitious endeavors, the partnership between humans and AI will be crucial for success. AI-driven technologies will enable us to navigate the cosmic terrain, extract valuable resources sustainably, and create a new era of scientific and technological marvels. Nevertheless, we must remain mindful of ethical considerations to ensure that our cosmic journey benefits all of humanity and preserves the wonders of the universe for generations to come.

slaying the dragoness
Since this novel hasn't received any engagement I have asserted that the issue is not only advertising but also editing. We have removed it from kindlevella to give it a touch-up, afterwards the full novel will be published as a solo novel with no sequels planned in the future for now.

The Struggles of Being a College Student: A Humorous Look
Tumblr media
College is supposed to be the best time of your life, right? Well, yes, but also no. While college can be a fantastic experience, it's not without its struggles. From the never-ending workload to the infamous "freshman fifteen," being a college student can be tough. But don't worry, we're here to give you a lighthearted and funny look at the struggles of being a college student.
Tumblr media
"I'll Just Wing It" One of the biggest struggles of being a college student is thinking you can just "wing it." We've all been there, thinking we can wait until the night before an exam to start studying or that we can write a paper the day it's due. Spoiler alert: it never works out. But hey, at least we tried, right?
Tumblr media
The "Freshman Fifteen" Ah, the infamous "freshman fifteen." The struggle of trying to resist the endless amounts of pizza and beer in the dining hall is real. And let's not forget about the late-night snacking while studying. But hey, the gym is always there...if we can find the motivation to go.
Tumblr media
Time Management As a college student, you're always juggling a million things at once. From classes to extracurricular activities to social events, it can be overwhelming. And don't forget about trying to fit in time for studying and sleep. Sometimes it feels like there just aren't enough hours in the day.
Tumblr media
Group Projects Ah, group projects. The bane of every college student's existence. There's always that one person who never shows up to meetings or doesn't pull their weight. And let's not forget about trying to coordinate schedules to find a time to meet. It's like herding cats.
Tumblr media
"What Am I Going to Do With My Life?" As a college student, it feels like everyone is constantly asking you what you're going to do with your life. And let's be honest, most of us have no idea. It's a constant struggle of trying to figure out what we're passionate about and what career path to pursue. But hey, at least we have plenty of time to figure it out...right?
Tumblr media
Conclusion: Being a college student isn't always easy, but we hope this article has given you a lighthearted and humorous perspective on some of the struggles we all face. From trying to resist the temptation of late-night pizza to figuring out what we want to do with our lives, we're all in this together. So, take a deep breath, grab some coffee (or pizza), and keep pushing through. You got this!

The Challenges and Opportunities of Farming on the Moon"
Tumblr media
Farming on the moon poses a unique set of challenges and opportunities for future lunar colonists. In this blog post, we'll explore some of the challenges that farmers will face on the moon, including:
Lack of water: Unlike Earth, the moon has no naturally occurring water sources. Lunar farmers will need to find ways to harvest and recycle water for their crops.
Tumblr media
Extreme temperatures: The moon's surface experiences extreme temperature fluctuations between day and night, which can make it difficult to grow crops. Farmers will need to design special greenhouses to protect their crops from these temperature swings.
Tumblr media
Limited space: Lunar habitats are likely to be small and cramped, which means that farmers will need to find innovative ways to maximize their growing space.
Tumblr media
Despite these challenges, farming on the moon also presents unique opportunities. For example:
Low-gravity environment: Lunar farmers will be able to take advantage of the moon's low-gravity environment to grow crops in ways that aren't possible on Earth.
Tumblr media
Solar power: The moon receives a constant supply of sunlight, which means that lunar farmers will be able to rely on solar power to run their farms.
Tumblr media
Innovation: Farming on the moon will require innovative solutions to overcome the challenges of the lunar environment, which could lead to new breakthroughs in agriculture and technology.

"Unlocking the Potential of Asteroid Mining: How It Might Be Done"
Tumblr media
Space exploration has long captured the imagination of humanity. As we continue to look to the stars, one of the most exciting frontiers is asteroid mining. Mining asteroids for resources could unlock new avenues for space exploration and even help address resource sustainability issues on Earth. But how exactly can it be done?
Tumblr media
In this post, we'll explore some of the potential techniques for asteroid mining and the challenges that must be overcome to make it a reality.
Technique 1: Robotic Mining
One technique for asteroid mining involves using robotic probes to extract resources and bring them back to Earth or to a space station. This method is similar to the way mining is done on Earth but with unique challenges. For example, the low gravity and harsh environment of space must be considered when designing mining equipment.
Tumblr media
The advantage of robotic mining is that it could enable the extraction of valuable resources without the need for humans to travel to the asteroid themselves. This could reduce the risks and costs associated with space exploration.
Technique 2: In-Situ Resource Utilization (ISRU)
Another potential technique for asteroid mining is in-situ resource utilization (ISRU). This involves using materials found on asteroids to produce fuel and other resources for space missions. For example, water on asteroids could be used to produce rocket fuel.
Tumblr media
ISRU has the potential to make space missions more sustainable and self-sufficient. By using resources available in space, we could reduce the need to transport everything we need from Earth.
Challenges:
Mining asteroids is not without its challenges. One of the main obstacles is identifying which asteroids have the resources we need. Scientists are developing new tools to identify and assess asteroids for their mining potential.
Another challenge is developing mining equipment that can withstand the harsh conditions of space. The low gravity, extreme temperatures, and radiation present unique challenges for mining equipment design.
Conclusion:
Asteroid mining is a complex and challenging endeavor, but it could be critical for future space exploration and resource sustainability. By developing new techniques for mining and overcoming the challenges associated with space exploration, we could unlock new resources and opportunities for space exploration. With continued research and development, we may one day be able to mine asteroids for everything from precious metals to rocket fuel.

“Somewhere in the files of General Mills is a letter from the very-short-story writer Lydia Davis. In it, Davis, who is widely considered one of the most original minds in American fiction today, expresses dismay at the packaging of the frozen peas sold by the company’s subsidiary Cascadian Farm. The letter, like many things that Davis writes, had started out sincere and then turned weird. Details grew overly specific; a narrative, however spare, emerged. “The peas are a dull yellow green, more the color of pea soup than fresh peas and nothing like the actual color of your peas, which are a nice bright dark green,” she wrote. “We have compared your depiction of peas to that of the other frozen peas packages and yours is by far the least appealing… . We enjoy your peas and do not want your business to suffer. Please reconsider your art.” Rather than address her complaint, the company sent her a coupon for Green Giant.”
— Dana Goodyear, “Long Story Short: Lydia Davis’s Radical Fiction,” New Yorker (March 17, 2014)

intense writing things (exposing things that writers do)
discovering a major plot point of their WIP halfway through and just adding it in with any other changes, telling themselves they'll "go back and revise it later"
lots of staring at a blinking cursor hoping it'll magically write
abandoning their main WIP at a crucial part to write the mini WIP that floated into their thoughts
thinking more about what they're going to write than actually writing
complaining about their favourite character dying off in a novel while simultaneously creating a character whose death will be painful for the reader in their WIP
— (iykyk)
can only write during a certain (extremely inconvenient) time of day
"look I wrote another 10 words" to anyone who will listen
knowing the entirety of the plot but nothing at all when you open a new paper
knowing the exact definitions of the most obscure words but forgetting the simplest things
writing a sentence, being proud of it, finding it again while editing, being really proud, sending it to your friend, realizing it's from Percy Jackson or some other popular equivalent.
smiling in pain when your friend asks you about the wip you abandoned months ago ("I know I will finish it this time")

Hi folks,
I've got a few books in Kindle Unlimited and, as usual, I'm at the point where I'm debating whether it's worth taking them out and publishing them wide.
KU has some great benefits (mainly allowing people to try your books "for free" - although not really), but I hate the exclusivity and I hate that the authors do not get paid if someone rereads a book they've borrowed before (please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong).
What are your thoughts on Kindle Unlimited? Do you like it? Hate it? Are you indifferent?
I'd love to read perspectives from both readers and authors.
Thanks!
