Pump Shanty is my favorite shanty. Featuring such lines as:
"There's so much water down below/just how it got there I don't know" (someone probably ought to find out...(and/or share that information with the people on the pumps))
And
"I'm sure I've pumped this bit before" (unless you have watertight compartments that's how water works)

Macaroni and cheese is a signal word for the Thomas Jefferson cult. I know more about macaroni than considered normal :)
Yes hehe that was my inspiration. I do find Thomas Jefferson very interesting and enjoy researching him even if he can be an absolutely horrible person. I haven't been able to read much about him lately, but reading the Notes on the State of Virginia gave me so much information and insight into his twisted little mind.

I read an interview about how they handled Archie but can't find the original at the moment. Archie wasn't supposed to return after episode 1, but everyone liked him so much that they brought him back! The decision was made to kill him because the directors wanted to ensure that Horatio was the focus of the series and that Archie had to be taken out in order to comply with the requests of the group in charge of the Hornblower novel series.
What the fuck was wrong with the Hornblower writers that they were like okay we have to kill Archie. I understand this. It’s sickening, but I understand it. But then to completely erase him from the narrative… but he’s STILL THERE. Bracegirdle shows up in Duty where Archie’s ghost is supposed to be. If any of you care. And then Horatio loses him too. If any of you care.

Twitter is awful but it's sort of worth it because occasionally someone on there produces one of the funniest images imaginable. case in point:

I got to sail with Call of the Sea for a few days in the San Francisco Bay, taking their sailing skills workshop. It was an amazing, wonderful, and incredible experience. I learned so much and understand tall ships a lot better now. The ship I sailed on is the Matthew Turner, a replica of the 1891 Brigantine the Galilee designed by shipbuilder Matthew Turner.

Each day was split into lessons and sailing. Lessons included learning the ropes, sails, elementary navigation, sail theory, and going aloft! Sailing around the bay was lovely. We tacked (bow/head of ship through the wind) around and jibed (stern of ship through the wind) once. We used fore and aft sails (triangle-shaped sails) every day and the upper topsail (a square sail) twice.
I finally got to see what actually happens on tall ships, learning by actually doing work on the ship. I'm now able to better recognize the names of ropes/sails and understand what steps need to be taken to successfully sail.

Here I am aloft! It was amazing (after the initial height uneasiness ofc)! Spotting whales, dolphins, and seals all roughly 20 feet from the ship was also incredible.

I can't wait to use what I learned by applying it to history and hopefully to sail on more tall ships :)

The autism is OUT and ready to hyperfixate. I'm fixating on Archie and Horatio, surprise. I was watching the bridge scene and was thinking "Well damn, this is really implying that Archie would rather die than live without Horatio, right?" the art of somewhat subtle storytelling is sending me. Then Horatio's breakdown at the end and Edrington hinting "don't let him hurt himself btw." The two of them are so mentally ill I think they rely on each other to survive.

I scooted over a little on the couch and pushed my phone off, prompting my Dad to instantly wake up and come downstairs while I watch Horatio sob and be comforted by Pellew. I can't even enjoy this moment. I started laughing maniacally and kinda scared him off. Can't have any peace in this household /j
