//He’s gonna be in the game and he plays a bigger part than I had originally planned.

//The King is an absolute sweetheart. Real big dad energy 24/7, a heavy contrast to his original counterpart. I like to think the peanut butter face thing was a phase he was going through at a younger age before growing up. (Or maybe a royal tradition of humility before he becomes king? Ooooh) Now the peanut-butter-beard is a real beard! He’s one of the oldest ego’s Mark has created, so it only makes sense he looks much much older and has gone through the most change.

//He has great pride in his people and is a people first leader. There’s a reason he announces himself as the king all of the time. He loves dressing casual, the flowy fabrics allowing easier movement for foraging. That heavy royal dress is too much for day to day. He loves spending time in his kingdom and helping wherever he can. His groundedness is what makes him a great favorite amongst his city. The other squirrels respect him, because he respects them. Hell, he’ll even run around without his crown from time to time.

//Tim spends a lot of time in this world for *cough* *cough* unspecified reasons *AHEM* and during this time, the king takes him in after all Tim’s help from before. (In fact! This is where Tim develops his appreciation for learning about new cultures, their foods, ecosystems, and social systems.)

//When Actor returns for Tim, Tim “decides” that he must return to the studio. It was the “right thing to do” after all. The king is heartbroken with Tim’s “decision” — heavily based upon manipulation — but he knows he can’t force Tim to stay. 1. Because forcing Tim would only cause the boy to push and fight harder against everyone who isn’t Actor, making it harder for Tim to realize he needs to leave and 2. because the king is no fool. If Actor can find a way to jump through universes, he could only imagine the harm he could cause to the kingdom, to his family. But, Tim was his family, too, now…

//It’s a decision that they both regret. However, Tim won’t come to this realization until much, much later.

When asked who Tim’s favorite character is from those made so far, he “couldn’t reveal too much about the future shows. I feel like everyone should get to know and fall in love with the characters over time as the episodes air.”

“But, there is one character I’ve gotten to expand on from a previous work Mark was in. He says the character is basically his because of how much he helped with the lines.” He flips through his journal as he searches for his own notes. “This adventurer and treasure hunter! He’s brave, bold, and just a little brash. From what I can gather from the script, he travels all across his world and breezes through traps looking for long-lost artifacts and mythical treasures.”

He elaborates further, “I think there’s so much that can be done with a character like Illinois. The different cultures he comes across, the foods and ecosystems, and overcoming more than just traps. I know from our adventures in outside worlds that it’s really important to learn all the ways different people live.”

“I,” he stammers, “kinda wish we would do more of those.”

//Of course the boy who loves adventure would love Illinois! I know he’s technically an ego, but I love the idea of Actor stealing characters from other works, whether blatantly or re-written, and shoving them into the studio project. He can act no doubt, but damn has he gotten uninspired.

Why, it’s only natural that Tim be on the cover for our first volume. I’ve done this more times than the digits on my hands. Besides, who better than to bestow this honor unto than my trusty sidekick, hmm?

This is not the first fan art I've done for this AU, though! ...well, kinda- Before I just did some smol doodles to give to the creator in private since they also doodled some of my AU (which looked a m a z i n g, more on that later), but I've always had in mind to make a fully rendered piece for them, but those doodles were good practice for Tim's design! ...Then they made their pfp one of those lil doodles and I just rmrmemMRMRMWN O U G H -

Speaking of fanart, however, I also tried to get this out sooner cause they made some AMAZING fanart for my AU, both with the private doodle before a n d the thing they did for Valentines Day, and I just rmemdnRMRMR S T I L L CAN'T GET OVER IT!! //I don’t think I’ve ever shown y’all the beta version of DAYS

//The story for this version of Tim was soooooo different. When I was first writing the story, it was going to be set in Mark’s computer. The game he was in would crash and he would have to navigate to the operating system of his computer to leave. The only way he could do that, was if Tim executed the different softwares of his computer and the two would navigate the softwares together.

//Tim was going to be an AI who had gone rogue from his programming. Actor made a deal with Tim as with the current version of the story. Make the maps and build the world, and Tim would get whatever he needed to bring Mark back. The only difference is that Tim begins to realize that what Actor wants him to build is designed to harm Mark. Tim’s primary goal coded within him is to protect Mark at all costs. …And he slowly gets eviler from there. He was also depicted to be much older, around 15-16.

//The primary theme was originally, solely, based around Mark’s definition of respect. Although Tim is unassuming from the beginning, the player would learn that Tim’s philosophy around who DESERVES respect is a lil fucked. And Mark can’t take that kind of behavior home with him, especially if he’s just going to resort to hurting others when they don’t fit Tim’s definition.

//I changed the story for 2 reasons:

1.) Tim was behaving a lil too evil, entitled, and definitely too much like AM from ‘I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream’. I felt that this complete 180 in what fans would be expecting would be a massive ‘turn off’, for lack of better words, and people would have a hard time sympathizing with his character.

2.) I wanted to create a story that fans could relate to on a larger scale. The more I wrote about Tim and Actor’s dynamic, the more I realized I needed to change gears. Instead of Tim being immediately aware of Actor’s manipulation, Tim learns he’s being manipulated later in story.

//The story began to click in place from there. Actor changed a lot too. He used to be much more aggressive, angry, and explosive. I slowly toned it down, and now he’s a biiiitttcchhh in a much more realistic way. He’s much more passive aggressive and he sneaks in insults when he talks to people. He still has a short fuse, but it’s balanced in a way that makes him unpredictable. We don’t know what will set him off.

//Here’s a lil sneak peak of some dialogue between Mark and Actor

“It just doesn’t make sense for him to have a human form.” “If he was capable the way he was, why put the stress on his soul?”

“He’s able to make himself more useful this way.”

“What does that mean? ‘More useful?’”

(AM sighs and looks at Mark like Mark’s stupid.) “You know what I mean.” “Besides, it was his idea to begin with. I wouldn’t do anything to him that he wouldn’t want.” “You really think I’d want to harm the little guy?”

“Well, no.”

“So why worry?” “He’s been in my care for 5 years. I’ve taken to understand that’s much longer than your 1.”

(Mark huffs, embarrassed and guilty.) “I didn’t choose to leave him.”

“I never said that.” “All I’m saying is I happen to know him a little more than you do, and that’s alright. A lot can change in 10 years, and it’s not your fault for not realizing that right away.” “I am a little shocked at how fast he forgave you, considering…”

“Considering??”

“Well.” “I shouldn’t dwell.”

“No. Go ahead. Tell me.”

“I care about that boy, so I won’t go into specifics. After the liking he’s taken to you, I’d hate for you to go and hurt him with this.” “But ask yourself this one question.” “Do you really think that after 5 years of abandonment, he’d be, how do you say, hunky dory?”

//Tim holds a great appreciation for life and all things living, for his time was cut short at an early age. “NO HARM SHALL COME TO ANOTHER SOUL.” He loves it when Actor assigns him to explore an outdoor setting. He gets to explore the different ecosystems, foliage, and crops each world has to offer. He feels most at peace outside and in nature.

//Tim’s entire arc throughout the story can be represented by the GUITAR and any variations of it. Beginning with acoustic, developing to electric, and then trying to return to acoustic. Timeless.

//Actor is quite the opposite. His aesthetic is parallel to his obsession with the FUTURE and MOVING FORWARD. It’s this interesting transition period from the 20s/50s (big jump, I know, but Mark won’t make up his mind), to the 70s/80s. I like to associate a mix of 80s Japanese City Pop with more American 50s/70s pieces. I see the 80s pieces on stage and the 50s off stage. All of it flashy, big, loud, and ripe for show business.
