While your interpretation is intriguing, I believe the author intended a different meaning in this poem.

Throughout the entire piece the author skillfully conceals his genuine feelings, masking his profound love for the person the poem addresses under a veil of hatred. Interestingly, you can seamlessly substitute "love" for "hate" in any line and get an interpretation that resonates even more strongly. In the last part, the truth escapes the poet’s mouth or the author’s pen, in the face of the revealing confession, "If I ever have a daughter, she'll bear your name." Caught off guard by this Freudian slip, the author swiftly attempts to camouflage it with a pseudo-confession of pure hatred: "I hate your name!"

In Armenian culture, particularly in the past, naming children after beloved and respected individuals was a common practice. In many families, sharing names between grandparents and grandchildren was a gesture of love and respect. Therefore, the previously mentioned lines can be interpreted as nothing more than an unintentional revelation, a Freudian slip of the tongue (slip of the mind?).

However, like all literature, this poem is open to interpretation. Feel free to derive from it whatever meaning resonates most with you.

Ah yes, of course I can share some details with you about our lovely little project.

First off, (not necessarily lore,) it is heavily in development, and we have a discord server with like 6 amazing people (mostly artists) helping me make the show a reality.

In said show we are planning to discuss various harsh topics and discuss many ongoing issues within life and the child upbringing, adding many colorful and musical themes to go along with such dark themes. Do not mistake this for a depressing show, for it all has a light and beautiful purpose. This is being created to comfort and help children, though an older audience will be expected and cared for; as long as it’s not at the expense of the children, of course. Perhaps a more appropriate version of DHMiS, if you are chronically online.

I have been approached by several people that insist I make it much more like Welcome Home or DHMIS, of which is still being considered.

Mr. Smith is a heavy bit of the lore, both being one of the mains and one of my first characters written. (He did indeed have a love interest being written, but he was scrapped; much to Mr. Smiths dismay.) not all of our characters have been posted about or announced, so keep an eye out for them!

The lore is awfully vague and hidden, due to the fact that I want it to come out with a bang and be a fresh new beginning; the likes of which people haven’t seen. I apologize deeply for my vagueness.

It is eaten with breadcrumbs and a 52 year old polish cheese, but only if it has been blessed by a goat. (but it is not goat cheese.)

My knowledge of him and the trial starts with your header text and google isn't exactly forthcoming on the climate of public opinion at the time it was actually happening. Also I just want to hear your thoughts since I heard it from you first, if that's ok

no problem. take what i say with a grain of salt, as im not american, so this isnt my history directly. additionally, this was before my time.

after the beating of rodney king at the hands of police, and the acquital of 3 of the 4 officers responsible, there were riots. the 1992 los angeles riots to be precise. these riots sprang up amid a backdrop of tension between black american and korean communities, and during these riots, a korean menswear store was firebombed. fred hampton jr, son of civil rights activist and martyr fred hampton, was found guilty for this, with the main piece of evidence i believe being that there were blisters on his hands. he and his supporters maintain his innocence for this event. many people, particularly black political activists, believe that his guilty verdict was mostly because he continued his fathers legacy in fighting for racial justice in america.

it is a known fact explicitly stated by the band that youre crashing but youre no wave is inspired by this trial (this is pre release, so the song names are different). this is demonstrated through the narrative told by the lyrics. the story ended before it began. the DA didnt need to give his closing argument, because the jury already believed it from the narrative spun on the news. 'everyones looking for relief/a bidding war for an old flame's grief' the old flame in this case being his father, from whom he picked up the torch. you could pay to close the case like a casket, because whats inside it is messy, and no one wants to see the dirty guts of the truth. the jury is stacked. the witnesses are well paid (too well dressed for the witness stand). the song heavily, heavily implies over and over, that this is not a fair trial, and that there is a foregone conclusion.

i feel as though its easy to argue this song is out of place, but personally, while its VERY on the nose and not really all that subtle (and i like that about it, dont get it twisted), i think it fits into the theme. i mentioned a while back that 'be clearly aware of the stars and infinity on high. then life seems most enchanted after all' refers, in the context of its association with this album, to the stars in hollywood. ioh is about media narratives first and foremost. its about fame, and celebrity, and painting a perfect picture, one that sells well. its all about the artifice ('style your wake for fashion magazines' 'i only think in the form of crunching numbers in hotel room collectong Page Six lovers' '"we need umbrellas on the inside" get me just right.') and in this case, it shifts its focus from media and celebrity into media and politics. which i find really really interesting.

I gotta say, I’m also kinda team “Joel and reader work it out” because that usually doesn’t happen in fanfiction.

Cheating fucking sucks and I totally understand that and understand that people wouldn’t want reconciliation. But it happens every day. People work out their issues and work through it and it doesn’t make them weak or anything. Obviously don’t just forgive and forget, the other person has to actually work for it and make things right again. But giving a relationship another try after cheating doesn’t make anyone weak.

And I mean, at the end of the day it’s a Joel fanfiction and I wouldn’t be interested in reader just finding a new partner tbh haha. Like that just makes it a reader fanfiction…

I also don’t think reader would be the kind of person to get revenge on Joel or anything like that. The only revenge I can see her do is living her best life but I cant see her doing something mean or cruel.

I think you hit the nail on the head!! I don't think our reader is that kind of "revenge girl" as we typically expect. Her mind works in other ways, for better or for worse!

one random thing that ive always thought about relating to jmah au is that kneeling is kinda lame torture/punishment when done for a long period of time, because it has very rapidly diminishing pain returns. ten minutes in, your legs go numb, and then it doesn't hurt unless you make it worse by moving around. the worst part is getting up. sam making dream kneel and then leaving for ten hours straight is less painful than back to back thiry minute increments with standing in between.

mmhm mmhm -- mostly because well, the kneeling isn't meant to be a punishment. sam doesn't see it as such, and so he's not really thinking of it to optimize dream's pain or discomfort as much as he's just enamored with the image of dream on his knees for him whooo said that. like the kneeling is just a more subtle version of the bowing that he can therefore demand basically at all times without question.

this isn't to say that dream is uuuusually just left to kneel alone--stress positions are used that sam dtefinitely means more as punishment though he would never consider them torture, and oftentimes the kneeling is accompanied by the dispensers where he's expected to keep himself still, etc. when he leaves, dream isn't explicitly supposed to be kneeling the whole time without moving...but he's also not explicitly not supposed to, and dream comes to expect that sam kinda likes it when he's exactly in the same place in the cell every time sam comes back without moving.

but yeah--the kneeling is always more about obedience + uhmm submission to sam more than it's supposed to be outright painful for dream -- do what i say when i say it without question and whatever. so to answer your question, yeah it IS kinda lame but have you considered that sam weally wikes it 🥺👉👈

This might be a bit of a weird question, but I'm a little curious about Will's transition, if that's alright to ask about (ignore this if not).

Since he's a binder-wearing acrobat, I'm wondering if he's considered going through with elective double mastectomy? Since long term chest-binding often leads to respiratory issues, skin irritation and (in rare cases) damage to the ribs, lungs and/or breast tissue, it could of course be difficult for an athlete's health and performance. Top surgery is, of course, permanent, and breast binders are not. Perhaps a clown's superior physique nullifies these issues?

{I'm a cis woman and don't have any experience with binders, so I'll start by saying that anything I've learned about on binding or top surgery is only secondhand and research.}

Will is an actor/comedian (aka clown) at the circus. He's mastered the art of slapstick, improv, and the pratfall but acrobatics isn't in his skill set, unlike Daisy. Will usually wears a binder for about 8-10 hours at a time during work days, and doesn't wear one at all on non-work days. Sometimes, he gets tired or uncomfortable and switches to a sports bra and big shirt.

Will would like to get top surgery someday, but for now he's fine with his body the way it is, he just doesn't want other people to mistake him for a girl. (he also keeps forgetting to do any research on it)

HOT TAKE: I think the fandom is overlooks his character a bit. Okay, hear me out… both him and Fred were kinda… bullies. If I’m being completely honest, I think the Weasley’s bullying is kinda in the same level of (if not worse than) Draco’s bullying… God, I can tell people are gonna hate me for this lol 😅 No, but for real, The twins experimented their prototypes on first years, gave Ron fear of spiders, almost made on a unbreakable vow, tried to trap Percy in pyramid, stuffed Montage in vanishing cabinet, all these these things that I have listed just gets brushed off as a “joke”. I’m not saying that Draco didn’t do awful shit, please, he’s probably the school’s biggest bigot but, at least his bullying, doesn’t go this far (most of the time at least). So, I think the fandom glosses over George being some what of a bully and kinda makes him like this hot ideal person, I don’t know, just me?

[to the mun] I'm incredibly curious about how you read Silas as a character since we get so little on him and you've put so much thought into the Mann family on a whole, what is he like?

The fact that there is so little information left about Silas also speaks about him as a character. In this he is very similar to Gray, only everyone tried to forget Gray, erase him from the past, whereas no one even remembered Silas.

After his death, he primarily protects the family manor (the original of which from London was exactly repeated in New Mexico), so he probably lived there with his brother's family, because he does not have his own.

At the same time, Silas seems to me distant from the family. He is not present when his nephews are born and does not appear in the comic at all. Zepheniah didn't say a word about him in his will, and this is understandable, given that Silas is older than him, but they founded a company together. Silas's opinion on this matter seems to be ignored, as if he once lost a war of primacy in the family to his brother. And it doesn't look like he was fighting at all.

In the family portrait, he is on the edge, as if he is unnecessary here. At the same time, he is the only one who looks upset about what is happening and the upcoming war of his nephews and the death of his brother.

Because of this, it seems to me that Silas is the only one who truly loves this family. And his cruel brother, because he remembers how he became like this, and his nephews, although they did not notice him, rushing only to the approval of their father. And that's why this character is so lonely.

Posthumously, he is a bloodthirsty monster and I like to think that during his lifetime he was the complete opposite: calm, melancholic, well-educated, religious, self-suppressing, gloomy, boring, and weak-willed compared to his brother. There are some Jekyll and Hyde motifs in this.

We remember that after his death, he is called the Horseless Headless Horsemann. But why is he a horseman if he was a salesman during his lifetime? Going back to the era, at that time, all the wealthy people had a horse, and it is obvious that the Manns also had because posthumously, he was wearing a rider's costume. I believe that he spent a lot of time in the company of horses because he found solace from loneliness in them. That's why they call him the horseman who lost his horse before Zepheniah's death because otherwise it wouldn't make sense.
