I’m leaning towards fried catfish with okra for that favorite dish Lemar would probably have loved when John made, I can see them catching catfish together and frying them up. Also, I’m biased because my god is fried catfish and okra fantastic.

John making the Thunderbolts Lemar’s favorite dinner when he’s fully accepted that they’re now family and that he would do anything for all of them and he couldn’t bring himself to cook it before because it hurt so badly, but once he realizes that he can do it again because he let himself love these people, it’s like a weight is lifted off of him and he’s lighting up like a christmas tree like he used to all those years ago.

Like Yelena’s teasing him one day and she’s like “Why don’t you make us your favorite dinner tonight, I wanna know what it is?” and him laughing it off and oops, all of a sudden, holy shit, he can actually make it again without it hurting so badly that he has to stop??? Because Yelena asked him to make it and he loves her like he loved Lemar??? He loves the entire team so much and he’s finally stopped trying to deny it???

I have many feelings TM about how Lemar haunts the narrative but in such a gentle and loving and painful and happy way.

Especially when John locks tf in and a switch is flipped because now he’s in seeker mode and suddenly he’s using like advanced tactical precision and climbing walls and using Super Soldier senses TM. And everyone else has to lock tf in in response and be smart about their spots

Until they give him a canonical name, I think I like the idea of John Walker’s son’s name being Michael Lemar. Named after two people who were extremely important to his parents, as John’s deceased older brother, and John and Olivia’s best friend.

I’ve seen alot of names in fics and some are cute, others I’m like nahhhh not my speed (I feel like John would not like the idea of naming his son after himself cough cough self-hate cough cough) but! I think Michael or Mikey is fitting.

Regardless of names, I just know that lil baby boy is so cute and is spoiled by everyone. I also like to headcanon him being born AFTER John gets the serum because super power baby shenanigans and also i like to be ✨unique✨

Another part I loved about this scene was the fact that Ava is the first to rush over to try and help him, knowing good and well that she’s not going to do much to lift it, but not caring one bit as she rushes right in to offer any semblance of support. Which is yet another moment where she had every opportunity not to do it, but she chose to stay and help John and the team in general, ahhhhhhh

What makes this scene where John jumps in to save the woman from the concrete slab better is it actually becomes about saving John

When he arrives to hold up the concrete, it’s for one woman they could pull out of the way while he’s stopping it.

But then he’d be crushed.

So one by one they put themselves at risk to help him and it’s beautiful

Headcanon that the Thunderbolts send John those awful cooking/how-to-recipe videos in the group chat just to piss him off because what do you mean you put zero seasoning on your chicken? What do you mean you made a pie out of hot-dogs? Why does that steak look so raw that it’s eating grass???

John losing his mind over awful cooking is probably some grade-A entertainment for the team.

Yes yes yes to all of this. Bucky hoarding food away to eat privately, Alexei not giving a damn and inhaling food from the fridge with zero prep either, just raw-dogging ingredients.

John being an absolute hangry bitch when he can’t get away from events or missions to eat something. I feel like he’s also still getting used to how the serum affects his body so when he first feels that hollow hunger, it drives him nuts. Alexei and Bucky have had a long time to adapt to their serums, I imagine John’s was a nightmare to get used to early on, especially since he raw-dogged the serum instead of it being assigned to him. Ain’t nobody walked him through the side-effects oof

I still stand firmly that the best headcanon to come from Thunderbolts is that John is the group cook and that he knows how to make a mean plate of food. It makes sense too because I can see him liking the steps and motions of cooking, it distracts and calms him when he’s in his own head.

That, and he’s 100 percent the kind to express his care through actions, and him making everyone’s favorite dishes as a way to say “Hey, you mean alot to me now and I want to make you happy but I have no idea how to admit that verbally so here’s your favorite food.”

That, and he’s a southern boy. I know his peach cobbler slaps HARDDDD

I’m both a “repressed bisexual who hasn’t come out yet” and a “hardcore bisexual who came out years ago and never denied it he was just never asked about it” John Walker enjoyer, like both are so fun to me for concepts but one thing remains true. This man is a bisexual disaster.
