Dear Miss Maeson, I just wanted to say I really like your art it amazing, as a fellow traditional artist I was wondering what art supplies you use? if you don't mind me asking, And if you got any tips of how to capture the drawing in a picture like lighting techniques or anything like that? I feel a bit embarrassed offering art advice (which is why this took so long), but I will definitely share what’s been shared with me & what little I’ve learned from drawing.

One thing I’ll add is: while I’m self taught, I did have one watercolor teacher for 3 months and she has had the biggest impact on my watercolor painting. So don’t be afraid to seek out teachers!

ALSO! Pls do not feel pressured to buy the supplies I have! I’ve had my watercolor paints of almost a decade and I am LUCKY to be able to afford polychrome pencils of any kind. I’m a firm believer that the paper quality is more important than the tools used.

1st, Shy, Sorry this took so long!

2) 2nd: Thank you So Much! Y’all are so sweet and your support means to world to me!

3) I use a lot of tools on my art. Currently I use:

- Faber-Castell polychromos Pencils

- Mechanical Pencils (Bic 0.7mm)

- Dylusions Creative Journal Square

- Alpha gold/silver watercolor paints

- watercolor paper 300lb

4) As a traditional artist, I think your paper-weight /quality is more important than expensive pencils or paints. Don’t break the bank; but find something that can stand up to experimentation

5) Don’t be afraid to experiment! I have lots of sketchbooks dedicated to learning (I’ll try to include some examples below).

- Go to live draw sessions

- study other traditional (& digital) artists

- & be patient/kind to yourself!
