of all the destruction Jinx causes in s1, her blowing up the council is lwk the most moral and based thing she does and I’m supposed to believe THAT action was what made Vi see her as un-redeemable and so Vi needs to kill her.

the one time Jinx blows up an appropriate target and it isn’t for her own enjoyment??? when she blows up the people who have oppressed her AND Vi their entire lives??? that’s the final straw for Vi that makes her go “my sister is gone”?? girl don’t pretend you ever gaf about the council. you hate those motherfuckers. 2 eps ago you just told Jayce, a counselor, to “fuck the council”

like this is what makes Vi give up on Jinx?? not Jinx killing firelights for fun?? not her trying to kill ekko?? not her giggling when she shoots people and her general apathy and amusement towards violence?? even after Jinx kidnaps and tortures Caitlyn and ASKS VI TO KILL HER, Vi still offers to run away with Jinx. she still thinks she’s still in there. she still has hope.

but the final straw is the one time Jinx blows someone up and it is NOT for her own amusement cuz she’s clearly in pain???? the one time she is NOT targeting innocents for fun?? the one time she’s targeting the most oppressive figures in Piltover???

after all the other messed up shit Jinx has done to Vi and others this season, blowing up the council is most immoral thing Jinx does???? that’s what makes Vi give up on her?? and why does this development happen in a snap off-screen??? where was the internal conflict and guilt?? where was vi, despite what cait tells her, still holding out hope for her sister while her doubt and guilt only seems to grow, only to see Jinx embrace the violent and apathetic and dangerous and unpredictable person she has become, forcing Vi to tragically accept reality??

where was the necessary internal character conflict to make Vi believe that she needed to not only accept that her sister is gone, but KILL her sister??

The handling of Warwick is yet another perfect example of the differences between s1 and s2.

In s1 ‘he still had it in him’ and ‘he wasn’t always a peacekeeper’ and ‘he was not that man anymore’. From the perspective of s2 what are these quotes even about? S1 Vander had a monster within him, that’s what Silco learned about ‘monsters’ from him, that 'there's a monster inside all of us', but in s2 the ‘monster’ was a literal two-headed werewolf monster in the woods that Singed merged with Vander. Vander deep down didn’t have a dark side to him that got externalized via Warwick, we literally travel deep down into Vander’s psyche and see that he was a pure good gentle man, he was quite literally simply being possessed by a monster.

Vander = good guy. Warwick = external violence that was artificially injected into Vander via mad science

when Warwick should have been an exploration of Vander's anger and violence

They also seemed to have retroactively applied this to Jinx. Jinx was not just externalizing her issues and pain and self. Powder who was a perfectly normal/healthy person just got possessed by…Silco ig? and that's what made her 'ill' and so 'rejecting Jinx' and 'embracing Powder' just solves everything.

Powder = good girl. Jinx = external mental illness that was artificially injected into Powder via Silco’s influence

Jinx should have waged war on Piltover, just cos she was feeling bad and she felt like it, and it should have been so bad that Cait/Piltover get a propaganda machine going and expose everything saying that she intentionally/deliberately killed Silco, who successfully already made a peace deal and was gonna be a councilor of an independent Zaun, but Jinx doesn’t even care what they say about her and doesn’t engage with any of that and just keeps on doing her own thing (blowing stuff up).

Only for that to not work anyway cos nobody including Sevika believes she’d kill him, or that she’d fight topside so hard if they weren’t the ones who actually killed him and are lying, leading to her antics being admired and viewed as what it indeed is in a way, a payback for Piltover hurting her family, smth everyone in the Undercity can relate to, and/or that she’s doing it for the ideological reasons that are the basis of Silco’s organization that she was a part of, creating a basis for ppl interpreting her actions as revolutionary, even if that’s incorrect (at least initially) and leading to Sevika wanting to team up with her and having a change of heart when it comes to her bcos of her conviction that she’s innocent and is grieving Silco in a way that Sevika can respect. And so for the first time they see eye to eye and maybe get some kinda alliance going. Maybe they find common ground and leave past quarrels behind and start bonding a little, starting with zero.

Later on it could be so juicy if Jinx admitted the truth.

I think maybe the reason why a lot of people, including the writers, can't grasp the concept of Cait's actions being bad/Cait doing very harmful things is that they imagine dictators, fascists or whatever you wanna call it as mustache twirling, malicious-to-the-core bad guys.

"but she's complex!" yes she is. and so is everyone ever who does horrific things. Many horrific things have been committed in the name of it being the lesser evil, and people who commit to it often think they're doing harm reduction. It's still a bad thing.

"but she was traumatised" oh!! okay? did we forget that villains can have tragic backgrounds and still be villains?

she's a character not a real person you don't have to plead for her innocence. if your fave is a terrible person but you're trying to excuse their actions, do you even like that character?

what fucks me up abt arcane (and why I can't shut up about it) is that it isn't just the copaganda where the cops do nothing bad and refuse to punch people or whatever, because for the most of the series you are shown very explicitly just how brutal and dehumanising they are towards lower class people and how they are perfectly okay with revoking the right to BREATHE from zaunites as a simple means to an end, and then the show asks you to feel sympathy for these very same cops. Yeah they did bad things but they have feelings too :( that means they are already on the path to redemption right :( fuck off lmao
