Are you 🫵 pissed off about the Lilo and Stitch monstrosity remake? Do you want to know how you can actually make a difference in supporting the people and ecosystems of Hawaii?

Tourism is a big issue in Hawaii (which the remake got rid of the original's commentary on because it makes foreigners look bad). I'm not gonna promote it, BUT I know that realistically, thousands of people arrive here every single day by the airplane-ful. And the majority of them aren't educated on the socio-cultural and economic impacts of tourism. SO, I'm making this post in an effort to educate visitors. If you or someone you know is visiting or moving to Hawaii (whether by circumstances in or out of your control), here are some suggestions on how you can give back!

You can donate to the Hawaii Community Foundation, which has been instrumental in giving aid to the displaced community of Lahaina after the Maui wildfires in 2023. They also provide scholarships to students of under-represented communities.

If you're interested in visiting Kualoa Ranch, you can do their Mālama Experience where you get your hands dirty giving back to the ‘āina (land)!

There are other organizations you can join to volunteer with, too, like Kupu and Mālama Maunalua. Check them out; maybe you can help with a beach cleanup or plant native trees! These are both non-profit organizations that accept monetary donations.

Visit the Bishop Museum to learn about Hawaiian history and culture! They also have events focused on sustainability and conservation.

If you're visiting Hilo on the Big Island, go visit the Laulima Nature Center! They're a non-profit aimed at protecting Hawaii's native species, and they even have an online store that ships to the US mainland and internationally! (After I post this, I'm gonna head on over and get myself a manu o Kū pin ♡)

A few other tips I have:

DO: Respect the locals' homes. Several beaches and hiking trails have access points in residential areas. Please be mindful to keep your voices down when passing by, and park ONLY in designated parking areas.

DO: Wear reef-safe sunscreen! Sunscreens containing oxybenzone and octinoxate are banned in Hawaii because they are known to damage coral reefs.

DON'T: Approach wildlife, particularly honu (sea turtles) and 'īlio holo i ka uaua (Hawaiian monk seals). Stay at least 10 feet (3 meters) away from turtles and at least 50 feet (15 meters) away from monk seals. If you see someone harassing animals, report them to the statewide NOAA Marine Wildlife Hotline: (888) 256-9840. You can also contact the Hawaii State Department of Land and Natural Resources.

DON'T: Collect sand, rocks, or other natural items to bring home with you. This is to protect the ecosystems and also out of respect for Kānaka Maoli (Native Hawaiians), who have cultural beliefs regarding lava rocks in particular. Taking lava rocks is extremely disrespectful.

DON'T: Litter! Please throw away your waste in proper trash cans. If you see a bin that says "ʻōpala," that's a trash can!

Many Kānaka Maoli (Native Hawaiians) are moving to the US mainland because the cost of living in Hawaii has been driven up so high (because of people moving here), they can't afford to live in their ancestral home. So, if you are going to visit or move to Hawaii, please:

- Make the effort to support local businesses, especially those owned by Native Hawaiians!

- Educate yourself and your loved ones about actual Hawaiian culture!

- Try Hawaiian food, like poi!

- Learn some Hawaiian words and don't be afraid to ask how to pronounce words correctly!

- Donate to a food bank!

- Watch films and read books written by Native Hawaiians!

My hope is that whoever sees this post will use it to educate themselves, their friends, and their families who are considering visiting.

My background is in sustainability and the environment, so that's what I know to suggest off the top of my head. If any Kānaka Maoli read this post and have suggestions to add, please do!

touch starved bob who is nervous the first time you sleep together because he has barely ever had sex sober and he’s unsure how to handle it without the extra confidence

Day 10: Serenade

When you woke up, you heard the birds outside chirping a gentle serenade. You tried to get up from your bed, but Xavier's tight grip on your body prevented you from moving. You turn to look at him and notice he's finally awake.

“Morning, sleepyhead.”

“Good morning to you, too.” You lightly chuckled. “Can you let go of me? I need to use the toilet.”

Xavier moves his arm away from you. When you finally have the freedom to move, the soreness from last night's events hits you.

Xavier frowned. “Was I too rough?”

“No, you were amazing last night.”

Day 9: Enjoy

Author's note: I was originally going to describe the reader as female. But I decided to keep the reader gender neutral.

Things became a blur. Before you knew it, Xavier brought you to your bedroom. Clothes were coming off and were haphazardly thrown to the floor before your lips reconnected. Your back hit the mattress of your bed while Xavier hovered on top of you.

“I want you to enjoy this as much as possible. Can you do that for me?” He asked.

“Yes, of course. Make me feel good, Xavier.”

He smiles and spreads your legs apart. Xavier dragged his tongue along your lower region. His tongue on your body was heavenly. You had hoped this moment would last forever.

Day 8: Stars

He coated his hand with lotion and applied it slowly from your foot to your thigh.

Xavier's touch was featherlight and gentle at first. However, it became electrifying the more he inched his way toward your inner thigh.

Your breath became a little unstable while your eyes were scrunched closed that you could see stars. This did not go unnoticed by Xavier.

“Are you okay? I just wanted to make sure I hit all the right spots.” He smirked a little.

He was pushing your limit. Two can play that game.

You caught him by surprise by kissing him passionately.

Day 7: Lotion

Author's note: Originally, I intended to make this spicy, but I had other plans. A spicy drabble will come later in the future, sometime.

“Have you picked out a movie yet?” You asked as you walked into the living room with a bottle of lotion in hand.

“Yup, I'm just waiting for you.”

You took a seat next to Xavier on the couch. As you were about to apply some lotion to your skin, Xavier interrupted you.

“You must be sore from your run.” He pointed at the bottle. “Let me help.”

You brushed him off. “I can handle this.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yes, I'm fine.”

Xavier put on his infamous pout, and you knew you were playing a losing game.

“Ugh, okay fine.”

Day 6: Comedy

Author's note: I'm trying to catch up with writing the other drabbles, but finals week is coming up soon. All major assignments for college are finished, but I have 2 final exams to study for. Likewise, updates will be slow at the moment.

“Is there something on my face?” You asked worriedly.

“No, not at all.”

You gave him the benefit of the doubt and believed his answer.

As if sensing your uneasiness, he changed the subject. “Want to watch a movie?”

“That sounds good. Any particular genre in mind?”

“How about something light, like a romantic comedy?”

You cracked a smile at him. “Are you a mind reader?”

A smile also graced Xavier's face. “Maybe I am.”

“Well, you go pick something while I take a shower. I don't want to watch a movie being all sweaty.”

“Alright, don't take too long.”

Author's note: Sorry for the late post! I was busy (yet again) due to the end of the semester approaching. As a little heads up, this drabble is a continuation of the last drabble. The next 2 drabbles should be directly connected as well.

Xavier walked you home. He naturally invited himself into your home, sitting down on the couch.

“I'm in desperate need of cold water after that run. What about you?”

“Yeah, that sounds good to me.”

You headed to the fridge for two water bottles. Once you obtained them, you returned to Xavier and handed a bottle to him. With your bottle, you finally screw the cap off. You took big sips of water, relishing in the coolness of the water.

When you glanced at Xavier, you realized he had been staring at you the whole time you were drinking water.
