everyone always talks about lily playing with james’ hair but what about the other way around? james constantly twirling it around his fingers when they talk. james brushing it out of her face for her when she’s too focused on a potion to notice it’s about to fall in. lily sitting between his legs while he braids her hair during order meetings because it grounds him as much as it soothes her.

too many people write jily as the mature ‘parents of the group’ couple and while i do like that dynamic too i will unfortunately be writing them as their true calling (freak x freak)

this made me enter a rabbit hole of other practices of witchcraft and why on earth Wizards and Witches rely so much on wands to perform magic. According to the site, the use and fabrication of wands started in England and propagated to North America, Japan and Africa —where they use it way less—, and I gasped.… Also somewhere it said that English wizards and witches found it too hard to perform wandless magic… So it’s the English’s ineptitude and colonization that made the wizarding community around the world dependent on wands… I also blame capitalism, looking at you Ollivander family.

Anyway, a fun thing to explore maybe, young witches finding to channel their power and use wandless magic and keep ancient witchcraft alive is a cool concept

practical magic got me thinking about Marlene, Lily, Mary and Dorcas doing more “witchy stuff” like carrying amulets and making ointments and using other (let’s call them older) types of spells. More like a coven yknow
