A couple hours of sleep due to a sick toddler...ran errands first.. haven’t had good workouts all week...blah blah blah...the odds were against me going into this workout because I talked myself into failure before I got into the gym but this remix came on, I flipped my switch, & hammered out a workout I was pleased with. Pretty lightweight all around today, good squeezes, & intense. Can I DL more weight than that little plate? Sure... but I’m not in the gym to prove anything to anyone anymore.. Some days I’m self motivated. Some days Im motivated by the people who want to see me fall off.—People who would feel better about themselves if I wasn’t doing me like I do me. Some days I’m motivated by people I don’t know who tell me they are inspired by my dedication. Regardless of how motivated I am or the source of my motivation I show up. I’ve been asked about how I have maintained my muscle mass after a pregnancy. Truth is, I lost quite a bit of muscle while I was pregnant. Anyone who had been following me knew I was trying to shave some muscle/width off my back. Since I can’t really spot reduce like that it was inevitable that I lost muscle in other places too just from not training at the same capacity I had been used to. I was super sick for the first 5 months and then super big for the last 2. Haha but I showed up-even then and would just walk/do cardio. I know some ladies that went at it hard during their pregnancies and I am certainly going to attempt to outwork myself during my next pregnancy (not pregnant at this moment). My advice to the pregnant (lol “the pregnant”) is to keep your foot in the gym door and show up during your pregnancy (unless your doc says not to obvi) better to be doing something than nothing or else it could be harder to get back into the groove post baby. My body might not be what it once was because my life isn’t what it once was. Gone are the days of spending an unlimited amount of time in the gym. My workouts went from 90 min to 45 min on average. The muscle I have now is a result of killer genetics- that I won’t deny lol I’ll never eat like a normal person regularly. I’m not a normal person haha I enjoy fun stuff daily but the foundation of my eating is very “cookie cutter bodybuilding” and I genuinely enjoy it. (It’s been...like 7 years lol) I don’t lift heavy and go ham as often as I would like/used to... TUT/crazy volume/super& drop sets are alwayssssss heavy and I truly believe that stuff coupled with muscle maturity is why I’ve been able maintain what I have still. There you have it. I feel like motherhood has helped me evolve. During these past 2 years of being a full-time mom I have really come into my own. I think sometimes our identity is too wrapped up in things that aren't very fulfilling or aren't even who we really are...like maybe fitness, a certain social status, a career, material things, or another person even. I think uncovering my true identity has been so freeing. It prob sounds kinda lame but self-love is a cool thing. When you stop being so wrapped up in WHAT you are or how you want to be viewed by others and just rock exactly who you are... like the real you when everything else is stripped away...flaws and all. It's freeing. I remember after the last show I did being told I needed to bring my hamstrings up to match my quads. Idk if they match now but I can't say I care. My favorite thing about bodybuilding is the fact that you are literally building your body... how you want it. More hamstrings... train for them. Better sweep... train for it. Wider back...grow it. I understand genetics play a large part in why some ppl are able to build certain areas "better/faster/easier" but why use that as an excuse not to pick your target area, even if it's your whole body... and hammer it until you see progress? Your body is one of the few things you have control of in this crazy world. You chose what you put in it & what time you dedicate to it. If you don't like what you see in the mirror or how your clothes fit... you can change it, you can. Some ppl are going to jump and say... they don't have time... or that you shouldn't be so concerned with what your body looks like... that ppl who workout daily (or at all) are conceited or have their priorities mixed up. I'm not talking to those ppl. It's no business of "those people" what other people are doing with their lives. If you don't like something, change it.

"You will never always be motivated. You have to learn to be disciplined." At 39 weeks pregnant ☝🏼️my motivation to go to the gym was probably about -4 on a scale from 1-10 😂 but the gym has always been my happy place. A stress reliever & a playground. Lifting & challenging my body is fun for me. It wasn't always like that though I had to learn to be disciplined too. At one point in my life I was overweight & the gym was a chore mostly. I started to see results though. Results can light a fire under you that is hard to put out. For me, it has been my primary source of motivation... My results. I put work in, hard work. I don't go to the gym to chat or make friends (although I did find a husband there & a close friend of mine 😜😉-they were bonuses) I fell in love with a lifestyle of eating to fuel my body for what I love. & I wouldn't have it any other way. I genuinely love it. Today I challenged my medium body by throwing some plyo stuff between sets during my 3rd leg day this week. 90% of all sets of anything I do are supersets lol so now my legs are totally toast. Some ppl might call that overtraining...& I would call those "some ppl"-punks. 😂😜 jk to each their own. Aside from muscle memory being very real, I attribute my "SnapBack" being largely because I just kept showing up to the the gym. Some days it wasn't my happy place because I was tired, miserable, & over being pregnant but discipline took over those days & I did what I could even though towards the end it became hardly anything. 🙃🙃 #fitpregnancy #motivation #postpartum #inspiration #worck #fitmom #takeselfies #progress #backatitagainwiththecomparisonshots
