More catcf songs:
And more autistic rambling woo!
Charlie:
This definitely fits a potentially more “realistic”Charlie as an adult, as he realises what inheriting the factory comes with
Augustus:
Rip can’t find any that would suit
Violet:
Lyrics kinda explain this one
Veruca:
Veruca would totally belt this one out with Violet into hairbrushes
Mike:
TV, phones, therapy and ADD? Yeah that’s Mike.

Чарли и шоколадная фабрика (USSR 1991)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Above are some images of the 1991 (USSR) copy of Charlie and the Chocolate factory, illustrated by E. Zanarsky. This book appears to be a particularly difficult copy to find, and feature some very unique illustrations. Most notably, a permanently green-faced Mike!
This version also features double-page illustrations of various key locations throughout the book.

Kalle och Chokladfabriken (1983):
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Above are some shots from the 1983 TV series Kalle och Chokladfabriken. Narrated by Ernst-Hugo Järegard and produced by SVT and Lars Sjörgen (IMDB). Unfortunately, the majority of this show is lost media and was not archived by TheWayBackMachine and has been removed from SVT and other Swedish streaming/purchasing sites.
Originally a channel called Erikbe99 (I believe it was them, although it could be another that's now deleted) posted the entire series on YouTube, yet it has now been removed, neither archived. Only three video clips remain of the show which is the intro, outro and The Television Chocolate Room scene. There was the inventing room scene available, but this now only remains as screenshots (to my current knowledge).
Despite this, the illustrations are available through buying the book- which is full of Bengt Arne Runnerström's work, albeit in greyscale. This is available on Bokbörsen and other second hand Swedish book shops. The full colour version of Kalle och den Stora Glasshissen is also available! Which could mean a full colour version of the original TV series is out out there somewhere, as a picture book.

Again, the search continues for the VHS

I like to imagine that Augustus being coated in chocolate is an homage to the original draft of Charlie’s chocolate boy :>

The Vanilla Fudge Room: Another removed chapter
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“I tried to read the unpublished chapter as though it was a new book, although obviously I had a lot of memories of the final version. It was fascinating to draw some more of the factory which I always enjoyed and to decide what a Vanilla Fudge mountain looks like. There are no Oompa-Loompas as I imagine that Roald had not invented them yet.”
- Sir Quentin Blake on illustrating 'The Vanilla Fudge Room'

Some pics from Fenwick’s Christmas window (2019):
Partnering with the Roald Dahl Story Company, Fenwick’s have created an incredibly memorable and striking depiction of Charlie And The Chocolate Factory. Taking direct inspiration from Quentin Blake (much like Alton Towers or Marshall’s), Fenwick’s have made a truly page-to-life experience. The characters have been depicted in a freshly unique environment, with the twists and turns of Roald’s imagination in mind.
Fenwick’s use of simple animatronics sparks an extra sense of joy, and realism to the scenes. The windows are fully immersive, detailed and believable. You are with Charlie every step of the way.
A great video of the window is linked to this post :)

Wonka’s Hottest Invention: A removed chapter
Tumblr media
Excerpt from Roald Dahl Fans:
“The chapter hints at a number of differences from the published version of the novel. For example, Mrs. Bucket has accompanied Charlie to the factory rather than Grandpa Joe. There were originally ten recipients of Golden Tickets, and at this point in the story, five are gone and five remain (including Charlie). Dahl hadn’t yet come up with the concept of Oompa-Loompas, and the chapter refers to “men” as his workers and assistants
The description of “THE WARMING-CANDY ROOM” and the machine that produces it are very similar to the Great Gum Machine, and it’s clear that Dahl used this chapter as a basis for Violet’s adventure. The machine produces candy that will keep the eater warm on a cold day. Three boys – Clarence Crump, Bertie Upside, and Terence Roper – all eat handfuls of the candy in an attempt to prove Mr. Wonka wrong, and all overheat and are taken off to spend some time in a refrigerator”.
