Kalle och Chokladfabriken (1983):

Above are some shots from the 1983 TV series Kalle och Chokladfabriken. Narrated by Ernst-Hugo Järegard and produced by SVT and Lars Sjörgen (IMDB). Unfortunately, the majority of this show is lost media and was not archived by TheWayBackMachine and has been removed from SVT and other Swedish streaming/purchasing sites.

Originally a channel called Erikbe99 (I believe it was them, although it could be another that's now deleted) posted the entire series on YouTube, yet it has now been removed, neither archived. Only three video clips remain of the show which is the intro, outro and The Television Chocolate Room scene. There was the inventing room scene available, but this now only remains as screenshots (to my current knowledge).

Despite this, the illustrations are available through buying the book- which is full of Bengt Arne Runnerström's work, albeit in greyscale. This is available on Bokbörsen and other second hand Swedish book shops. The full colour version of Kalle och den Stora Glasshissen is also available! Which could mean a full colour version of the original TV series is out out there somewhere, as a picture book.

Veckobrev!! Har inte så mycket att skriva om idag, jag ber om ursäkt. Vi såg Kalle och chokladfabriken i helgen, den halvgamla av Tim Burton. Den har mycket bra musik i sig, tips tips. Ett annat tips är att ha FaceTime dejt med kompisar som bor långt bort. Jag och Felix syrra brukar ringas och laga mat ihop på fredagar. Nu får ni kolla på lite bilder, puss!

One of the funniest things in the swedish catcf miniseries I’ve seen so far is that they described Augustus’ hometown to be so proud of him finding a ticket that they closed down schools and wanted to make a parade for him and everything 😭 Like imagine you found a ticket and you’re town hero because you just opened a chocolate bar lmao

Anyway they said everyone in town waved with the flags for him and

Logically, it’s the swedish flag (especially with the ”school’s closed” sign underneath also being in swedish) But it would be hilarious if it just was another nordic country. It’s black and white anyway because it’s a newspaper so it could be any color. My vote is for Denmark.

Why did they decide to keep her original name when they can’t pronounce Violet correctly

So I've mentioned in the past that there's a swedish miniseries of Charlie and the chocolate factory that they made in the 80s.

Anyway, here in the intro he goes through all the kids' names, and...

I cringed so hard when he pronounced Violet's name.

So like. Commonly in catcf's swedish translations, her name is Violetta, by the reason being that NO ONE COULD PRONOUNCE VIOLET over here, especially not back in the 60s, 70s and 80s where fewer people knew english. And we have proof of that in this video.

Just call her Violetta instead if you're struggling to know that in english, "i" is pronounced completely differently. People are named Violet and people are named Violetta, but no one is fucking named "Violett". That's a color.

This is the second adaptation I’ve seen where Mike asks Wonka why he makes gum if he hates gum and Wonka is like ”I can’t hear you, you’re just mumbling”

Actually every time Mike opens his mouth in this, Wonka is like ”He speaks so weirdly I can’t hear him 🙄”

Det ska ju komma en ny Ronja Rövardotter film nu och jag tänker att en del kommer säga "inget slår originalet!!"

Det som är intressant med Astrid Lindgren adaptationer är att de mest populära filmatiseringarna som vi ser som heliga och som bäst pga det. Så när det görs en ny adaptation blir vi typ "NEJ!! INGET SLÅR ORIGINALET!"

Men, tekniskt sätt har det gjorts flera adaptationer av Astrid Lindgren berättelser förut. Finns ju en barnen i bullerbyn från 60-talet och en från 80-talet (den från 80-talet är superior), och det finns Kalle Blomkvist filmer från 50-talet som de sen gjorde om på 90-talet. Egentligen är de inte remakes av varandra utan bara en ny adaptation av samma bok. Dessutom finns ju tecknade pippi, tecknade karlsson på taket och anime ronja. Dock kanske det inte räknas när det är tecknad pga det är ett annat medium.

Dock ger detta ingen ursäkt till Saltkråkan som var en tv-serie först, så den nya Saltkråkan är en remake.
