A paint 'doodle' start to the first month of 2022 seems quite appropriate really, for a year of 'planned' unplanned experimenting, exploring, and playing in my planner! I've decided to work on the bullet journal again this year ... but with a different perspective in mind. I've been setting out the 'bare bones' basic layouts and I'll just paint in it when possible, with no reference to a particular theme or style. Just doodling whatever comes to mind at that moment. It takes away any pressure that I used to have, worrying about the overall 'look' to it. I'll be using this journal to experiment and explore and play creatively around the basic planner layouts. Perhaps when I look back at the end of the year I'll see some form of continuity, but that isn't really what matters -- it's just having the bullet journal to work on again that is the pleasure! It's still hugely busy behind the scenes with the website and shop, so in the meantime I've dug up an art journal process video from the depths of the archives just to keep things going. I was experimenting with styles at the time (still am), so I painted two interpretations of a little, imaginary pot plant ... one slightly more detailed and sweet and the other looser and wilder! Not sure of which one I prefer ... This one may have turned out slightly messier than expected but I don't mind at all as it has given it a bit of a 'lion hidden in the foliage' feel. Experimenting is turning out to be fun! I did screw up the recording of the original pen and ink drawing of the lions so it's a shorter clip but fortunately the painting bit recorded without problem, though I'm constantly battling with the lack of clear light during the day!
