Repost from @marianablackplans "You are what you choose to be" This turned out slightly messy as I wasn't working with any plan in mind, but in the end I find that I quite like it. A paint 'doodle' start to the first month of 2022 seems quite appropriate really, for a year of 'planned' unplanned experimenting, exploring, and playing in my planner! I've decided to work on the bullet journal again this year ... but with a different perspective in mind. I've been setting out the 'bare bones' basic layouts and I'll just paint in it when possible, with no reference to a particular theme or style. Just doodling whatever comes to mind at that moment. It takes away any pressure that I used to have, worrying about the overall 'look' to it. I'll be using this journal to experiment and explore and play creatively around the basic planner layouts. Perhaps when I look back at the end of the year I'll see some form of continuity, but that isn't really what matters -- it's just having the bullet journal to work on again that is the pleasure! I love this time of the year when the rose hips appear, beautiful and slightly alien like red jellyfish swimming in the bushes. I draw them just about every year, but this time its with a slightly different slant ... producing another happy mess while at it. Recently I've taken more time with my art. I sit and breathe first, empty my mind (well, as much as possible!) and just let things flow ... I'm truly enjoying being surprised by what emerges. So here are those rose hips, floating among fish and birds for no reason whatsoever but to make me happy, and hopefully put a smile on someone's face. Exploring texture. Once again just putting paint down in layers, and drawing with a dip pen, which I find so satisfying as I love the uneven quality of the lines it describes. Hugely therapeutic. I meet up with cows on an almost daily basis on my walks, and they mingle freely with horses and humans on the meadow and among the trees, so I have tons of photos and decided it was time to begin drawing from a few.
