The First Daughter of Time
The First Daughter of Time
Chapter One: Becoming Mortal
Akatosh sighed while looking out into Oblivion from the archways of the council chambers. He felt lost and his soul was tired, he felt like he was missing a fundamental part of himself, he just could not figure what he was missing. While Akatosh was lost in his thoughts his fellow council members Arkay and Mara approached him.
“What has you so lost in thought my friend?” Mara asked him in her soft lilting voice.
Akatosh turned toward them and sighed, “I feel like I am missing a vital part of myself, but I cannot figure out what exactly I am missing.”
Arkay gestured for them to enter the council chambers and move to the sitting room that was hidden off to the side of the chamber. When they all had sat down, he finally spoke. “Have you considered that you may be lonely and searching for your souls match?” Arkay asked Akatosh in his low rich baritone voice. With this question Mara hummed and nodded in agreement.
“We all have that moment of longing in time my friend, in fact Zenithar just came back from his journey a decade ago with his husband Ri’averr and he is much happier and content.” Mara added.
Akatosh considered what they both had said and after a time agreed with them. Unsure of how to proceed though, he turned to his dearest friends for help. Mara reached and took his hands in hers, “You know you have my help in whatever way I am able.”
After they spent time talking and planning Arkay took Akatosh to his chamber in the council temple. They stopped in front of a large mirror like object, “This is the gateway to the mortal realm. By entering this your divine nature is locked inside a newborn babe, your memories will return in dreams when your mortal mind is able to handle them. You will return here when your mortal body perishes, but if your match passes before you they will be kept in a dream-like stasis until you return. We will know who they are thanks to Mara who will mark their soul when you marry. Do you understand all that will occur?”
“I understand my friend, I thank you and Mara for all that you are doing for me.” Akatosh turned to Arkay in thanks before he entered the gateway.
They next thing he knew was cold and he cried out. “Oh he has such strong lungs Ionali, you and Thrlof must be so proud.” The midwife said as she brought the newborn into the world. She gently cleaned the babe and then handed him to his mother. Ionali gazed at her son in wonder, he calmed the moment he was placed in his mother’s arms. When the midwife finished gathering her things, she directed Thrlof to see his family as she left their cottage.
Thrlof entered their bedroom to the sight of his wife gazing softly at their child and running a finger down the babe’s cheek. He knelt next to the bed and joined her in looking at their child. “What should we name him my love?” he asked his wife.
Softly she said, “Rigdr, he will be named Rigdr after your father.” Thrlof teared up as he gazed at his beautiful wife and son. “He would have been honored by your choice Ionali.” He told her and she gave him the same smile that he fell in love with years ago when they were young.
As time passed their family grew in both members and love. By the time Rigdr reached his majority and left to join the legion he had three younger siblings: his twin sisters Aumna and Lynria, and his baby brother Deogrir. Everyone in his family was both proud and sad to see him leave for Solitude for training. A year after he left his sister Lynria left to go train with the mages at the College of Winterhold with him escorting her there to give their parents peace of mind. When he returned to their home in Falkreath Deogrir asked to speak with him before he had to return to the Legion.
Deogrir and Rigdr walked to a clearing near their home to speak, “Rigdr, do you think ma and pa would be disappointed if I don’t join the Legion in three years?”
He looked at his baby brother and noticed how worried he was. “Oh Deogrir, our parents will never be disappointed in you. Did I ever tell you about when I told them I wanted to join the Legion?” Deogrir shook his head and gazed at his big brother.
“They were so upset and tried for weeks to get me to change my mind, they even told me I could be an adventurer if I did not join the Legion.” Deogrir was shocked, he always believed that adventuring was the more dangerous occupation.
“Really!?”
Rigdr nodded, “Ma and pa wanted me to be closer to home and thought that if I became an adventurer, I would be home more than what I would with the Legion. But I was determined to be a legionnaire, and nothing was going to change my mind. If you have a passion you want to pursue, they won’t stop you, just like me becoming a legionnaire and Lynria going to the College. They might hem and haw but no matter what you choose we will still love you. Come here.” At the end of his speech he reached out and hugged his brother.
“Thank you Rigdr.” Deogrir said into his brother’s chest plate.
“Always little one.”
Years pass with Rigdr returning to Falkreath for the marriage of his sister Aumna and then staying after retiring from the Legion and marring the tailors daughter, Adamaris. They fell in love at first sight when they bumped into each other at the harvest festival. They married within months of meeting. Their families were surprised but happy for them because you could tell immediately that they were in love.
Not even a year after they married, they were blessed with a baby girl they named Althea. They sadly were not blessed with more children in the years to come but that did not stop them from loving the family they did have. Althea was the apple of her grandparents eyes being the first grandchild. Unfortunately Adamaris’ parents were killed on their way back to Falkreath from Solitude by bandits when Althea was two. It took time for the small family of three to reach a new normal with Adamaris taking over the tailor shop and Rigdr working more from home at his small smithy to be with Althea more.
As Althea grew and became even more mobile, Rigdr spent less time smithing and more time teaching his daughter, but he felt more fulfilled teaching his daughter than he did making and repairing farm equipment, armor, and weapons. Althea was inquisitive but quiet, she was more than happy to sit with her papa and read rather than run about all Falkreath.
Just before Althea’s fifth birthday tragedy struck Falkreath. An illness swept through Falkreath taking old and young alike in its wake. Rigdr and Adamaris were worried for their daughter but she was as healthy as could be, it was Adamaris that the illness took from them along with Rigdr’s parents and younger brother.
The following year was very difficult for them with Althea spending more days with her Aunt Aumna and her family while her papa had to take more smithy work to keep food on their table. But every night the small family of two ate together and talked about their days, then Rigdr would sing his daughter to sleep in the language only the two of them knew, Dovahzul:
Vaslahl bii,
Vaslahl graag
Rul hi los jud,
Zu’u fent kos jun
Wo fun hi ful,
Wo fun hi ful?
Nii lost dii siifur zahreik
Tol fun zu’u ful
Bel vok hin fahdonne
Hel niin wa kroson
Osos wa faal frod
Osos wa faal zofk
Osos wa faal koos
Osos wa faal kern
Jol hi ahrk zu’u
Dein unmaar varn
Vaslahl bii,
Vaslahl graag
Rul hi los jud,
Zu’u fent kos jun
Wo fun hi ful,
Wo fun hi ful?
Nii lost dii siifur zahreik
Tol fun zu’u ful
By the end of the song Althea was asleep dreaming of lavender fields while her father still had some work to do before he could join her in sleep. When Althea was ten her papa felt she was old enough to join him in the forge so he could teach her his craft. She loved learning to smith though after she mastered the basics, she preferred to work on detail pieces like jewelry or engraving runes on armor. Rigdr was just happy to be spending more time with his daughter.
Due to Althea’s talents with cloth and jewelry they were commissioned to create a battle dress and accessories for the Jarl of Whiterun’s wife and daughter. They were honored and left for Whiterun shortly after she turned sixteen. Unfortunately they were caught up in a skirmish between Imperial soldiers and the Stormcloaks just outside of Falkreath. That is truly where our story starts.

I’m Fighting a War against Hate, Are You?
I’m not sure who is actually going to read this but I’ve finally had enough silence. I asked to stop going to church with my mom and sister in my later years in high school and they asked me why; because I went to a Christian summer camp and I wanted to go to a religious college but for some unexplainable reason, to them, I didn’t want to go to church. I did have a very good reason for this that I did have to explain. It went sort of like this… I do believe in God, I believe in the afterlife, I pray, but I don’t believe in the words I hear every Sunday and the things I am told to believe in based on my faith.
I’m a very open minded person but there is so much pain from religious texts that were written by MEN ages ago. I’ve read the bible and I understand it and the power it has but it is just a book written by humans’ years ago.  I’m not sure how many of you know this but the monotheistic religions all connect. We share parts of religious texts, example: the Old Testament, prophets, and histories. They all started with the same trunk and then grew to different branches.  I’m sure that I will get a lot of hate from this but it needs to be said. I have faith, but I don’t force it on others and I honestly try to avoid it on social media because I just do want to deal with it, but I’m ready to end my silence.
We are all made in God’s image but I don’t believe that it’s a physical thing. I believe that it is our souls, our inner most selves, that were made in His image. There is nothing physical about it. No one living has seen God, and honestly it is very vain of humans to see Him in the same way we see others. In my understanding God is not a physical being, I see Him as a floating ball of light, and as such we should not interpret us being made in His image as a physical thing. God is genderless even if we don’t have any nice gender neutral names to call Him, so our souls are also genderless just like our emotions ( the good ones: love, hope, happiness, sadness, etc.), they can’t be understood on a purely physical level.
While many say that gay marriage and such is wrong and against what He said in the bible, you must remember that those texts that we hold so dear were not only written by men as in mortal humans but also men of the male gender during a time were women had no rights and we had glorified interpreters for God. The great books are all full of bias to the people and times they were written in. They should hold little standing to current society.  They love on a spiritual level just as we all should. I won’t stand in the way of that.
Some may say that I’ll go to Hell for my beliefs but I am of the mind that if I respect God, the world, and my fellow people while living my time well and doing what I feel God would want me to do then that is all that matters.
We’re fighting a war, but it isn’t a war against a physical opponent, we’re fighting a war against the horrible plague known as hate. I’m starting my fight, will you?

Chapter Three: Their new start
Ana helped Mariel become legal in this new modern world, documents were drawn up and a passport was made using her new name: Mariel Meara ó Maoilriain and the new name of the young Potter: Hadrian Seamus ó Maoilriain to keep him hidden from those who would wish to use or harm him. Once all the legal aspects were finished Ana bought three plane tickets to Honolulu International Airport that would leave the next day at five am. She then called the head of the Kapu, Kawika, to set up a meeting.
The next morning was an early one and Hadrian was not happy with his three am wakeup call. He was extremely fussy and irritable, hindering all of Mariel's attempts to feed and dress him for the day. By the time all three of them were dressed and ready to leave they were very behind schedule. Luckily for Mariel and Ana, once their plane took off little Hadrian was fast asleep and remained so for the first three hours of their fourteen and a half hour flight. By the time they landed it was about midnight in Honolulu. The three of them quickly called a taxi to take them to the hotel so they could have some rest before their meeting the next day.
Ana arranged for a wake-up service at seven the next morning so they would have plenty of time to get ready for their meeting at noon at a local café. When they arrived Kawika was already there waiting for them. When he noticed their arrival, he stood and greeted them.
"Aloha. You must be Morgana and Mariel."
"Yes, we spoke on the phone about permit ion for my family to live here among the Community."
Kawika nodded and gestured for them to sit. Ana was all regal grace while Mariel, even with her serene mask in place, showed signs of nervousness. Hadrian was just sitting on Mariel's lap content with playing with his stuffed wolf. Kawika noticed her nerves and quickly went to calm them.
"Everything is already in place for their acceptance, all we need now is the agreement to be signed."
He handed Ana all of the legal documents for her to look over. When Ana gave Mariel the go ahead she quickly signed and handed the pile back to Kawika to look over. After a few minutes of him skimming over them to makes sure everything was in order he nodded and put the papers away. The rest of their lunch was much more relaxed and it seemed like Mariel and Kawika were becoming fast friends.
After lunch, Kawika led them to Mariel's shop, which she fondly named 'The Fairy Circle Café'. Mariel was pleased with what they did with it. The walls were painted with a mural of the forests she grew up around and, she noticed surprised, the forest and its inhabitants moved. Mariel was worried about her non-magical clients noticing but Kawika reassured her that there was a small ward weaved into the paint that prevented those not knowing about magic of seeing them move. She was amazed with the detail and care put into her shop. The tables and chairs had a nature theme to go with the mural and even her shelves seamlessly blended with it as well. After their tour of her shop, Kawika directed them to their home for many years to come.
The house was just three minutes away from the shop walking and was right on the beach. It was a gorgeous single story house with a basement and was painted a lovely shade of green. When they entered the house, Mariel noted that most of the house was empty except for the essentials: beds for the master and guest bedrooms and basic food supplies.
"We didn't want you to have nothing but we also thought that you would like to set up most of the home yourself."
"No, it's perfect. Thank-you Kawika for all that you have done for us. I can't thank you enough."
Kawika merely smiled and wished for them to have a good evening and that he would check up on them every once in a while to make sure they were alright.

Chapter Two: The secret in the wilds
As the last of Lily's spell was spoken, in the wilds of Ireland, an ancient fae awoke from slumber in answer to Lily's call. In one moment the fae was standing in the wilds and in the next she was standing next to the fallen form of Lily observing the young Hadrian Potter. The fae could sense ancient magic from the child and knew that the child was the reason she was awoken from her self-imposed slumber. She knew that she needed to guide him and teach him the old ways.
Suddenly she heard someone searching the house for survivors and quickly scooped Hadrian into her arms and vanished from sight as a very old, flamboyant, man entered the nursery with sadness in his eyes. He bypassed Lily's body and went straight to the crib hoping that the child he sought was still alive and was stunned that there was no child. He began to panic, he needed the child to win the war, the prophesy he was given by Sybil said so. Suddenly it was like a light bulb went off, he cast a little known spell to tell if someone was still living, status viventis1Hadrian James Potter, the light from his wand started to form the words
Hadrian James Potter
Status: living
Location: unknown
in the air before him. Slightly less panicked, Albus Dumbledore came up with a plan. He would tell all who asked that the young Potter was safe and hidden for his own protection, giving him time to search for and take back the young Potter so he will be raised to fit his plans. Yes, that will work perfectly for Albus. With his plan decided he quickly left Godric's Hollow, not knowing that he will never find the child unless his new guardian allows it.
At the same time Albus Dumbledore entered the nursery, the young boy and his new caretaker appeared outside another cottage, this one deep in the Irish wilds. The fae swiftly knocked on the door and waited for a response. When none was forthcoming she tried again and spoke, "Ana tá sé Mariel, cuir in iúl dom i.2" Suddenly the door opened and standing before the fae and child was an old woman, "Mariel! Tá tú awoken, agus le leanbh?3" Ana quickly led them inside, busying herself with making snacks and tea.
"Toghaireadh mé ag medicine óg chun aire a thabhairt agus a leanbh a chosaint i ndiaidh a báis. Is é seo a mac. Surrounds draíochta ársa air.4" She helped herself to some cookies and created a bassinet next to her and placed Hadrian in it as he slept. "Morgana dhíth orm do chabhair.5"
"Cad is féidir liom a dhéanamh?6" Mariel reached out and grasped Ana's hand, "Tá a fhios agam rud ar bith ar an am seo, a roinnt do chuid eolais le liom mar sin is féidir liom a chosaint dó níos fearr. Le do thoil.7" Ana nodded her ascent and grasped Mariel's other hand.
Cad a fhios agam
leathnú ar an méid a fhios aici
do chosaint a bharda
Is beannaithe a bheith8
As the last line was spoken Mariel let out a gasp and blacked out from the sudden influx of knowledge. Ana's magic quickly caught her before she fell and carried her to the spare room to let her sort out all the new information.
She didn't wake until the next day due to receiving century's worth of information. "So this is the common tongue now Ana?" she asked as she started making breakfast for them in thanks for Ana's help. "You've got quite the grasp on it already my child. Have you come up with your next course of action?" Mariel pondered that question as she continued making breakfast. As she was watching Hadrian make a mess of his meal she answered. "I am thinking of taking him to the New World, I mean America, and raising him there. I was thinking somewhere small and opening a store there. But right now I just want to catch up with you, it has been so long since we lasted talked."
The next day Mariel and Ana sat down to make a plan. Mariel wanted to raise Hadrian in relative seclusion, with a good education system, and a safe magical community. After a few hours they narrowed it down to a small Victorian styled home a few miles outside of Gatlinburg, Tennessee and a beach side house just outside of Waikiki on Oahu. After even more time deliberating they decided that Mariel and Hadrian would move to Oahu in the next few days. She decided that she would open a small café and specialty shop to provide for them. Ana helped Mariel get everything situated in Waikiki on both the legal front and with the Kapu. Mariel was looking forward to her new life and the brand new start for both of them.
The language used is classified as Irish but in Google I searched English to Gaelic translation so it might not be the best. After this chapter I most likely won't use the language as much.
Living Status in Latin
Ana it's Mariel, please let me in.
Mariel! You have awoken, and with a child?
I was summoned by a young witch to take care of and protect her child after her death. This is her son. Ancient magic surrounds him.
Morgana I need your help.
What can I do?
I know nothing of this time, share your knowledge with me so I can protect him better. Please.
What I know expand on what she knows for the protection of her ward blessed be
