West Virginia’s Mothman is probably one of the most famous cryptids. It allegedly caused a bridge to collapse in 1967, and chased some cars around.

I’m excited to report that I was chosen, along with a handful of other artists to have exclusive prints made for Igloo Letterpress’ Kickstarter campaign.  If you haven’t heard about Igloo, it’s a small letterpress operation from Columbus, Ohio.  The staff of ten currently runs their operation out of a very small studio, offering custom printing for weddings, businesses, and artists as well as classes and a gift shop.  They’re upgrading their space this year, which is what the Kickstarter is for.

So they have lots of cool rewards for backing their campaign.  For the out-of-towners, there are prints, notebooks, mugs and coasters, and t-shirts, all centered around the theme of “Tools of the Trade.”  For those in Columbus, there are also classes offered, including some taught by big name designers and illustrators like Emily McDowell and Amy Butler.  They’ll even let you claim more than one reward if you want!

I started working with Igloo about two years ago and have done two lines of cards with them and one more we will hopefully be seeing later this year.  They have been great as a client and also great friends.  In Columbus, a city that is growing bigger for, and more full of creative people, they serve as a sort of artistic home base for a lot of us.

Help these cool ladies (and the few gentlemen) out.  Help a small business, a local gem, a haven for creatives, to make our community better, and help us to Move Our Igloo.

Globular clusters are enormous collections of stars, like mini-galaxies, that orbit a main galaxy.  The Milky Way has 150 or more of these clusters in orbit around it.  This month's Astronomy Magazine has a great article including images of what the sky would look like if Earth were situated inside a globular cluster.

10199 Chariklo is a Centaur. It's fully rock, not half horse and man, and resides (along with the other minor planets known as Centaurs) in the outer portion of the solar system.  Recently, Chariklo (whose Wikipedia article would make a great fantasy novel title) passed in front of a star while astronomers watched from Earth to learn more about the asteroid. The star did not wink out once as expected, but three times, meaning this 150 mile space-rock has rings.
