I mean, this is a mood, don't get me wrong but why does this image look like it's been microwaved?

I mean, better than what I use it for. I literally use incognito mode when listening to music I like on YouTube because I'm insecure about my musical taste and also it keeps music recommendations from clogging my YouTube recommendations when I'm looking for videos to watch (I listen to a LOT of music).

#funny#meme#memes#i use it for dumb questions too#the music thing is just more common#don't judge me#I've had to awkwardly explain a few times already lol

I finally got time to find the video I was thinking of. That's not in fact what Hank Green said. He was more talking about not reading a finished book after writing it because it's been read more than enough to memorize it and because you'll inevitably find things you wish to change. I feel like those could be factors in why a game dev's game might not be their favourite though so I will still link the video. Not sure where I heard the other thing now/what I was thinking of but I could still see that being a thing too.

It looks like an early to mid 2000s horror game. Really giving off the Sims 3 graphics aesthetic mixed with some Silent Hill vibes.

I mean, that context actually makes it make a little more sense. I've heard from many writers that, after they go through the entire editing and publishing process, they find they're ready to be done with the story and move on because of how many times they've had to read and re-read it (I think Hank Green had a video saying this; I'll update the post if I find it later, as I don't have time to look Finally had time to look; I'm incorrect and will update in a reblog). I'm not sure if that's the same for game devs but, considering the amount of work that goes into a good game, it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if their wife was a bit tired of Terreria and preferred playing other games to relax.
That and also, if you spend all day working on something, playing it won't be as relaxing because you're still mentally working (noticing bugs, thinking of things to improve the game, etc.).

#terreria#games#videogames#thank you for coming to my ted talk#I bring up writing because it's what I'm familiar with#it could be any craft I think

We lost Season 4 of Infinity Train to this. I'm not kidding; unless there's some hidden legitimate option I couldn't find or it's region-locked and just not available in my country, it's basically impossible to find unless you use...certain methods (we didn't but we're not thrilled there's no legit way to get Season 4 now). I was talking to my partner the other day about the show and how I wanted to watch it with him. We looked everywhere for it and only found Seasons 1 & 3 for online purchase. I have Seasons 1 & 2 on DVD so, between those two sources, most of it's still available to us but we only ever found 4 episodes of Season 4 for legit purchase.
I was crushed. Sure, it's not the best season of the show IMO but I still really liked it and people put years of their lives into producing it. Animation takes a lot of time and even more effort. All their hard work and dedication basically got thrown in the trash so a company could make a little more money. I'm still not fricking over this. This shouldn't be allowed to happen.

Hey, uh, English? Can we fix this please? This has caused confusion in my life multiple times already and I think the repetition is enough to prove this is something that needs a solution...Maybe a new word or something...

Pretty sure he used it 4-5 times in the section with Vampire Lucy alone so...a lot.
How many times did Bram use "voluptuous" in this book, anyway?

You know, I kind of agree with this. I'm not that upset with Re: Dracula for having a different interpretation (given their care in things like labeling trigger warnings in the past, I don't believe purposely taking something away from Mina's character was their intent or anything like that). It's in-character for Van Helsing to suspect this is why she knows the way and the way the entry is written is bias towards the conclusion Dracula is in some way influencing Mina now. However, I do feel that the creative choice to overlay Dracula's voice for that part kind of locks the audience into that one interpretation when it's actually more likely Mina just memorized stuff and is being creepy for other reasons.
I like how the Dracula overlay thing was implemented earlier in the podcast and think it was a fun, creative idea. I just feel it was utilized poorly here.
ACTUALLY though, while it is my rule not to criticize a piece of media I have not consumed, and I dropped out of re: Dracula in May
HOW DARE THEY reassign Mina's next-to-last accomplishment of the book to DRACULA
"Have not my Jonathan wrote of it?"
Hmmm, lemme check...
This time, after going to the far side of the Pass, he suddenly turned down a narrow roadway which ran sharply to the right.
LOOK AT THAT. It turns out he did!
Just because Van Helsing thinks it's weird and creepy and she couldn't possibly know that doesn't mean we should believe him. Actually, it means we probably shouldn't believe him! Point me to any point in the text where Van Helsing's read on another character's ability of motivation has been correct. Rather than, you know, immediately and hilariously contradicted. This man has never been right about Mina in his life.
Since the 25th, Dracula has been pulling away from Mina's mind as hard as he can. What is more likely, that he's giving her directions to his Castle in the middle of running for his life? Or that the Train Fiend who memorizes Bradshaw Guides for fun and has been obsessively poring over maps and documents to discover not only the route to Castle Dracula but every possible route, happened to remember a piece of relevant information that she has been actively looking for?? Like come on.
Mina: Dracula seems to have left my brain because he knows we're tracking him
Mina: fortunately I have maps and an eyewitness account of the route to the Castle
Mina: here's the three most likely ways, and fortunately we can cover all of them
Van Helsing: *scared in the dark* which way now???
Mina: *pointing* that way
Van Helsing: how could you possibly know that???
Mina: I mean. Jonathan literally wrote it down.
Mina: I read it when I was specifically looking for this exact information. You've read it. We talked about it at length. Jonathan kissed me on the mouth and you shook my hand about it. It was a pretty significant thing that happened?
Mina: this is like when you were surprised when I knew what time the train was like my dude, have you met me?
Van Helsing: creepy af it must be Dracula
Not all of the route to the Castle is retrievable from Jonathan's account, given that Dracula was driving in circles on purpose and it was dark and there were wolves and he passed out or something for the final approach but this specific detail actually is! And it is incredibly in character for Mina to just Know That.
Jail! Jail for re: Dracula for 1000 years.

I mean, if he's only using it 50 times in a century, at least it'll likely be different people at least 60% of the time. Even if it is the same people, it won't feel as overdone as it sounds. 100 years may not be a long time for vampires but it is for mortals.
any vampire worth their salt will say shit like “i could go for…………. a bite.” then chuckle to themselves like it’s the fucking funniest most original thing that’s ever been said. and they will use this same line no less than fifty times in the span of a century

Got up at 3am to use the bathroom and had the thought 'imagine if there was a custom sign shop that only played music with lyrics about literal/figurative signs'. No explanation, I hadn't been dreaming about signs, it just kind of happened out of nowhere. Now you all have to be subjected to that thought too. You're welcome.

Ok but, like, could you blame them on that specific example? Admittedly, I haven't kept up with Pokemon much since X and Y (nothing specific; I just kind of burned out) so I'm bias but these:
These look like basically the same Pokemon to me (not a design complaint; they're all cute and I want a plushie of Pawmi, they're just very similar to each other). I could see a trainer looking at their Pawmot and going 'huh, my pawmo is having a really bad hair day' or 'weird, their floof got a little darker. Does that mean they're close to evolving or is it just the lighting?'. Also, this image is a bad example and doesn't show it well (meaning anyone like me who is unfamiliar with Pawmi and its evolutions may be confused) but all three have tails, meaning even that isn't a good distinction. These are all basically the same creature but slightly bigger each time and with different hair (also ruffled floof around the neck in Pawmot's case, though I could see that also being brushed off as a 'bad hair day' in-universe.
There's gotta be some trainers in-universe that are just incredibly bad at IDing Pokemon. like there's at least one guy out there that keeps waiting for their Pawmo to evolve except said "Pawmo" evolved into a Pawmot like 6 months ago and the guy just never noticed
#pawmo#pawmot#pokemon#pkmn#look how cute#their designs are adorable#not trying to add to the new design discourse if that's still a thing btw#just trying to have some fun talking about a cute new pokemon
