This song is so Frobin coded. Specifically Sanji going to Franky for love advice and this is the shit that comes out of his mouth. Just go with it Sanji. After all, he's the only one with a gf between the two of you.

The longer I think about Frobin and their relationship dynamic the more certain I am that Franky is not a jealous lover. At all. I mean, who is he to deny his beautiful lady more lovers if she so pleases?

Robin however? Oh boy.

Franky isn't stupid. He knows Robin could have any man she wants, but she chose him. In fact, he might even enjoy watching her get hit on everywhere they go.

There's a certain level of satisfaction he can only get when she tells people she is in fact dating the cyborg man. Their bewildered faces give him a rush of pride. He never feels more super.

If anything he might go out of his way to encourage some poor soul to hit on her just so he can watch as their spirits crumble right before him.

He never places a possessive arm around her, but towering over her from behind as they walk through the streets of a town makes him feel like the luckiest dude around.

Her on the other hand? Well...she's not of the same mindset.

Robin didn't get the chance to experience romance growing up. All she could do was focus on survival and everything else got pushed to the side. So unlike Franky, who undoubtedly has a robust dating history, everything about them is completely new to her.

Franky is her first everything. Her first crush. Her first boyfriend. Her first hand hold. Her first love. Heck, even if she probably wasn't a virgin I doubt Robin had ever slept with someone who cared so deeply about her. I doubt she's ever been held in bed by someone who makes her feel safe.

So yeah, Robin is jealous and possessive. She's not just going to let someone come around and take her man! She's waited too long to let some rando take what she rightfully deserves.

But oh, she doesn't act out in a way that's obviously to most people. Nope. she's much sneaker with it.

Robin is not loud. She doesn't go stomping around yelling at people to leave her boyfriend alone. No no no. She usually stands behind Franky or if there's a place to sit she'll plop down with a book in her hand stewing as she pretends to read. Then she'll stare. Stare at Franky and whatever poor soul made the mistake of hitting on the cyborg.

As she continues to stare a small unnerving smile appears on her face and a demonic aura surrounds her being. Unable to ignore the dangerous atmosphere any longer the poor victims usually flee from the scene with tears in their eyes. Robin's smile turns genuine as soon a they leave her sight.

Satisfied with her victory she'll go up to Franky and wrap her tiny arms around one of his huge forearms and ask if he would like to go do some local activity together. Franky is always enthusiastic about the prospect and Robin usually spends the rest of the day glued at his side with hearts floating up above her. The townsfolk give them plenty of room because everywhere they go a dark aura of warning follows.

Franky is none the wiser.

Not only he’s known Robin the least out of anyone else in the crew but he’s also known her as the reason Tom was afraid to destroy Pluton’s blueprints thus why he was investigated by the World Government (other than being the one who shot Iceburg).

But while Iceburg decided to deal with her by eliminating her Franky realized that she was just a woman loved and cherished by her own crew with no reason to destroy the world so he “eliminated” the blueprints instead betting everything on her and the Strawhats and risking his own life for her safety, as if she were the new blueprints he was supposed to protect.

This panel is why Frobin will always be the only Robin ship I enjoy. I know the chances of them ever being canon is closer to 0 than not, but I can't just pretend their entire dynamic in Eneis Lobby didn't stand out to me. Especially since this is how we are introduced to Franky & the idea of him being part of the strawhats. He's known Robin the least out of anyone else in the crew at this point and yet Oda chose him to be right by her side through most of the arc. He chose him to be the one to have the background needed to know exactly what she's feeling & understand the type of words she needed to hear. Oda chose Franky to be the first person to tell Robin her existing in the world is not a good enough reason for the government to try and kill her.

Robin is also the character used to integrate Franky into the crew and that seems really fucking significant to me considering literally every other strawhat did that through their relationship with Luffy. Yea Luffy still had to ask him, but he had secured his spot via Robin. She literally tries to drag him by the balls to get him on the ship and y'all want me to NOT look into their relationship? You want me to NOT see something more than friendship between them?? Impossible.

I'm convinced that this is Oda's way of telling us the only reason Frobin isn't canon is because their crewmates keep cockblocking them. If they got to spend more than 10 minutes alone they'd already be a well established couple.

I predict if Frobin becomes canon it will be because at EOS the crew for some reason spends some unspecified amount of time apart & when they reuinite for the final scene we will learn that Franky & Robin spent it together & it's gunna be heavily implied they became romantically involved.

Most of the crew won't get it cause they're dummies, but like maybe Nami and Sanji (cause he's upset lmao) will understand the implications of some jokes being thrown by them. They won't announce it or anything though because that's not important in the moment, but Oda might give us a cover story eqsue drawing of them on a date as extra content once the series is finished.
