Why is Rum's left eye damaged? Was it caused by Akai Tsutomu? He knows Jeet Kune Do, and that martial art mainly targets the eyes and throat, doesn’t it?!
Yes, it was most likely done by Akai Tsutomu in this foreshadowed scene with him and Asaka (File 1099).
I suspect that he helped her escape before he faced Rum in a confrontation. He most likely used the finger jab technique (to damage his eye to the degree of eventually having to replace it with a prosthetic) that was foreshadowed in File 971.

Hello ! What are your thoughts on the latest chapters 1144 - 1146 and what can we expect in upcoming chapters in your opinion?
Hello MasterDetective! This is probably the 1st time in DC history that audience probably know more about BO activities than Conan. We know who Rum is disguising as, we know about his eye condition & abilities he used to have using those eye and have gotten hints on his objectives. We have more details on what exactly happened in that 17 year old cold case than Conan. How much of it has Conan figured about all of this according to you? Thanks !
File 1144-1146 Review
The latest case was extremely promising and it delivered what we have all been waiting for,... Rum arc plot progression.
This case started off with Conan pondering over his recent triggered memories of Itakura Suguru and him trying to trace back what triggered them (File 1144). Already there, we got to see him recalling Eri and Ran's words in association with it, which I speculated could have played a significant role to those triggers in my File 1141-1143 Review other than the obvious "cat's cry" subject that Itakura had once mentioned in his diary.
This was then followed by Haibara interrupting his thought process and us once again having another Maria appearance, just in time as we are getting main plot development signaled to us. Something interesting that was said by Conan was the fact that he referenced the passing of a significant amount of time in the story. He referenced the last Maria case (File 1110-1112) and that 1 month had already passed since then. This is interesting, as it has always been understood that the overall DC story timeline is not gonna surprass a year (in order for the status quo to be preserved), so if 12 months is as long as the story plays out in-universe, then it means we are so far 9+ months (75%) finished of the story time-wise, since we know from the Vauxhall bridge case (File 1048-1050) that Mary's shrinking/London case took place at least 2 months ago ("a few months ago") and Mary mentioned back then that Conan started appearing soon after Shinichi's disappearance 6 months ago (so a total of at least 8 months has passed).
The actual meat of this case however was the reunion of Andre Camel (with the newly made-up cover "Ando Rekiya") and Wakita Kanenori (Rum). Both immediately found each familiar through out this case, and it ultimately lead to the cliffhanger of Wakita recalling his encounter with Camel 2 years ago during Rye's testing and him starting to suspect if Ando is Camel.
In terms of what I expect the follow-up of this ending will be, I don't think there will be any major consequences from this for Camel. There are a couple of reasons for this. First of all, it's too early for Camel to get fully/undoubtfully exposed, as this is literally his first case since he faked his death and it would break Gosho's pattern and set a completely new precedent for how quickly a major main plot setup case like the FBI serial murder (File 1061-1066), that established this status quo, would be undone. Secondly, the way this case ended on this sudden high-stake note without resolution is a classic Gosho misdirection build-up move that he does too frequently, which further suggest that there will be a twist in its continuation (that Rum gets convinced otherwise).
Now, as for how Rum's suspicions gets dispelled, I could see Conan's cover for Camel that he gave to Detective Boys coming back. When DB found him familar (File 1144), Conan introduced him with his alias and told them that he was in the recent Teitan alumni reunion (Akemi time capsule case, File 1070-1072).
If DB happens to return and reference this information about Ando to Wakita, it would be enough for Wakita, who was at the alumni reunion, to start talking himself out of the idea that Andre Camel somehow survived his fatal gunshot wounds that all of his subordinates witnessed, as he fell into deep water. All of this tension would then get averted, but perhaps with lingering queries in Rum about Ando (similar to Bourbon with Subaru in Betrayal case resolution, File 957).
A great prediction of how this cliffhanger potentially gets followed up was made by @Joey from Discord, where we could be leading into not only a flashback to Rye's exposure 2 years ago from Rum's POV, but also tie it together with something else that took place 2 years ago: Tequila's mission of ordering a software from Itakura Suguru.
I can immediately agree and see this great potential for a full flashback case here, where we see Camel's POV as he, Akai & FBI prepare their trap for Gin, and also where we see Rum's POV as he is managing Tequila's mission while planning Rye's loyalty test. This would then lead to the eventual Rye exposure, but also revelations of the behind-the-scenes that took place when Tequila's mission got transfered to Vermouth and the potential disputes/conflicts within the BO about that topic (especially if it relates to the hidden Boss). This flashback would then transition back to Wakita's reaction to Ando in the resolution chapter and resolve as mentioned before above.
This idea is extremely promising and it goes surprisingly well with everything that has been setup in this case, and it would continue the so-far-consistent Itakura software developments/hints that have been dropping since the previous case. Also, Gosho had teased in recent interviews that not only Camel, but also the FBI was gonna return soon (which would fit with if FBI appeared in the flashback case to 2 years ago). Gosho also revealed that the magazine cover for the issue that next case drops in will feature Rum, so all the more reason to have it center around his POV.
Something else that Gosho decided to happen was Rum getting his first glimpse at Haibara (Sherry), who was been completely shaken by the triggered BO sense since Wakita appeared (File 1144-1145).
Rum was immediately disarmed by that and seemed to just be at the brink of processing who he may have recognized before Conan came in and interrupted his thought process. This was a very close-call situation that could potentially bear fruit far into the future when Gosho intends to have Rum realize that APTX4869 had de-aged Sherry and Shinichi all along. Haibara was quick to dismiss Wakita ("sushi guy") as a threat once she was mislead to believe by DB that he was Conan's friend (File 1145). It did make me wonder if this was gonna carry any consequence, like for example Haibara daring to return with DB to where Wakita is and once again get triggered (but from afar) as Conan directly witnesses it (this time both of them affirms that Wakita has to be BO) or Wakita further interacting with DB (after they dispell his Camel suspicion) and asking them about missing Haibara in front of Conan.
Regardless, this leads me to the subject I have been meaning do discuss, and that's Conan's awareness and potential suspicions that he already has hidden at the moment about Wakita.
I have previously written my speculations on what Conan thinks about Wakita, and this case was essentially a goldmine of hints that confirmed my speculations that Conan has pretty much zero:ed in on Wakita as potentially being Rum.
The first hint we got was the aforementioned interruption of Wakita recognizing Haibara as Sherry (File 1145). Conan immediately interrupted him by asking him for a bandage in an unsuspecting manner, which was extremely convinient timing, suggesting it was intentional after having made note of Haibara's state at Wakita's presence. The second hint was how Conan explained off his usual smart observations to Takagi. Takagi immediately made note of the absence of crediting it to Kudo Shinichi, further highlighting Conan's off-routine behaviors, as if he is very suspicious of Wakita and intentionally being careful about mentioning the BO's recent investigational target, Kudo Shinichi (File 1145).
The last hint was how alert Conan was to Wakita's actions, as if he has been carefully observing his watchful eyes. After Wakita glared at Ando as Conan was conspiring with him, he later started noticing a slight off-sync in Ando's mouth movement with the voice and soon after realizing Conan's absence he had an lightning-suspicion that Conan could be relaying Ando's deduction directly and started rushing to where he located him, only to be presented by Conan's childish act of obliviously being interested in an ant line (File 1146). Conan's readiness to fool Wakita and beforehand relaying to Camel to take over the deduction if he stops talking is like the nail in the coffin to Conan's solid suspicion of Wakita being Rum undercover. While he doesn't know the intricate details about Rum (like past photographic memory through his snake-like eye, truly being Amanda's/Kohji's killer & "Time is money" petphrase), he has enough circumstantial evidence to make that connection (Wakita wearing an eyepatch, Asaka glaring at Wakita, Wakita's interest in a shogi piece & Wakita-Haibara's mutual reaction to each other). At the very least, he is definitely viewing him as an enemy from the BO.
Although Conan has fooled Wakita into thinking he is a normal smart kid (rather than an actual de-aged young adult), he is yet to realize how aware Wakita is of his true intelligence/competence, as further seen by how Wakita expected for Conan to be able to deduce things about the case by relaying indirect hints to him (File 1145).
Overall, this case was very good and had interesting tricks. It was refreshing to have Camel finish solving the case by deducing the rest by himself and be depicted as a competent agent intellectually (File 1146).
It was also nice to finally get a first canon glimpse at Ayumi's mother, who appeared in the background as Ayumi talked about her (File 1144). We'll have to wait and see when she gets a proper intro in the future.

Amanda Hughes' Dying Message Theory
After the latest anime episode (1165) of the Kohji case flashback adaptation, where we finally got Amanda Hughes' dying message picture in colours, I think I may have figured out a hidden layer to what she could have been trying to tell with the lipstick-smeared Knight piece.
As some may know, I have speculated that Amanda's Knight piece with wristwatch dying message wasn't completely deduced by Conan and that there was unresolved things with other elements in it, like the chessboard it was on. I had speculated that Amanda could have been trying to implicate Rum's identity through the knight piece (as potentially foreshadowed in Wakita's intro in File 975 with the "Pirate's spirit" [Rum] horse) and deduced that Amanda may have mixed japanese and english in her dying message out of desperation (similar to the victim in File 1057), since we learned in File 1106 that she was learning japanese and could speak fluently). It does make for a harder challenge to realize that such a mix of languages was implemented in the message when there's already limited resources for her dying message. After looking at the knight piece again however, but this time in colour through the anime adaptation, I realized there could have actually been a direct hint in Amanda's message on how the knight piece was intended to be read, and this is not the first time Gosho has done this in this arc.
In File 969-971 (Swimsuit dressroom case), the victim of that case left a dying message that was very similar to Amanda's, in that she smeared lipstick from her mouth on her right hand (similar to Amanda) in order to guide how her left hand gesture was meant to be read.
It was revealed that she smeared the red lipstick on her 5-star-painted nail on her thumb to indicate the flag of China, in order to guide the reader in what language the dying message was meant to be read. If this was foreshadowing to Amanda's dying message technique, then it's possible that when Amanda smeared her hand with lipstick and transfered it on the knight piece horse' eyes, she was also trying to indicate the language in which the knight piece was meant to be read through. When you look at the colours, you can immediately see that the white knight piece with the red dot on its horse eyes was most likely meant to hint to the flag of Japan!
This would mean that Amanda indeed was trying to indicate the japanese word for "horse" in her dying message, which is "Uma".
If she took account of the Knight piece's white colour, then it further fits with the continuation of my deduction on how the chessboard was used in the rest of the message. The red lipstick-smeared right hand of Amanda that was facing the chessboard was not only trying to guide the reader to the language of the knight piece message ("horse" in japanese), but it was also trying to guide the reader on how to factor the chessboard into the message. The white knight piece has 2 fixed starting positions on the chessboard (Left B1 & Right G1), and so with her guiding lipstick-smeared right hand facing the chessboard, she was indicating that the right starting position of the white knight piece (G1) was a part of the message, represented with the letter "G", and together with "UMA" (horse in japanese) making out the letters of MUGA (as, in Momiji's current butler "Muga")
This could be further highlighting that Rum's parting words for Amanda (File 1107), where he left her with a loaded line about his father's long history with Karasuma Renya (the boss) as the former "Rum", indeed carried more weight than it appeared and could have been what made her figure out that the current Rum is not truly the same Rum she met 67 years ago, but rather his son (whose first name she may have known beforehand) in disguise as his father, as mentioned in my File 1106-1109 Review.

(1) I never understood how Haibara managed to get that disc thing (called an M.D. or something in the Manga Vol 24, I cannot be sure now) full of APTX information without triggering the Night Baron virus thing again. Thoughts? Also : did she initially lie about the disc being burnt just so she can be allowed to run away & die, alone?
(2) I have an even more crack!fic idea about Boss & Cat: It's not that he is the size of a 7-year-old & holding a cat, walking near Vermouth on her phone call, but that he literally *is* the size of a toddler! Hence him only using text-messaging instead of calling via voice modulators.
(1) I think it's because of the difference in the disc. In her intro case, she had accidentally sent her sister BO file discs that likely had Night Baron programmed into it if it doesn't detect BO dataservers. In the Reunion case, she accessed BO data servers directly, and then copied the APTX4869 data into Agasa's game disc, so basically, the disc was clean without Night Baron virus and therefore nothing got triggered when she opened up Agasa's disc. As for why she lied, it was probably because she didn’t wanna promise him that any good would come out of the disc she successfully retrieved until she knows for sure that she can actually accomplish the creation of a functional antidote.
(2) Yeah,... I have written about this before as well,... I don't think there is any benefit from a meta standpoint for the Boss to be baby, since he will literally be incapable of exuding any type of physical threat, since he will not only be dependent on a caretaker that helps him move but also be limited in communication (underdeveloped vocal cords and all). The Cat's cry being referred to in the recent chapter (File 1141) through the baby's cry angle served as a transition to that subject matter, but I could also see Gosho intentionally highlighting that similarity for future narrative purposes.
The idea of the cat's cry potentially being a baby's makes for a perfect painting of that the boss could be a parent/caretaker of a baby... meaning, Gosho could be preparing future suspects/misleads where they appear to have either a cat or a baby. One example of someone who might reappear ominously is the old lady who was strolling around with the baby in the Azusa-Conan kidnapping case (File 1126-1128).

Hello! I hope your day is going well ^^ I was wondering if you had any thoughts on the latest case, especially chapter 1141?
File 1141-1143 Review
Hi, it's going well thank you. Yes, I have indeed a lot thoughts on the latest case, and especially File 1141. This case-opening chapter was without a doubt one of the most exciting and highly anticipated moments in the history of this series in terms of mystery lore.
This case started with Kogoro seemingly sneaking around talking to someone about preparing a gift for someone that is a teen girl, despite Ran's birthday being revealed to be awhile away (File 1141). This leads to Eri getting involved in trying to figure out if Kogoro had some secret affair going on.
All of this leads to Eri mentioning how a client of hers mistook a cat's cry for that of a baby's, leading to them talking about how female cat's mating cries can sound like that of a baby's...
...which lead to Conan getting triggered and recalling in flashes none other than one of the biggest DC mysteries that has been shelved for decades, the Itakura software & Vermouth mysteries from Vermouth arc (from File 380).
These were direct redraws from File 380, when he was reading Itakura's diary about Itakura's meeting with Tequila, reluctantly accepting the software order from Vermouth, his regrets and fears of its consequences for humamity, as well as including Conan's recall of Haibara's similar line as Vermouth that was he was pondering (acting "against the stream of time").
This moment couldn't have been less expected to take place right now amidst the unresolved plots of Rum arc, which made for a very impactful development for me. The significance of Conan suddenly recalling this is that it's Gosho's narrative technique of reviving subject matters that are about to be addressed soon, meaning... we are about to finally develop this old highly awaited mystery from decades ago, which is not short of insane and exciting at the same time.
As for why/how Conan recalled this subject matter, it makes sense that it has to do with the long-running "Cat's cry" mystery that Agasa mentioned was noted in Itakura's diary from when Itakura was conversing with Vermouth on the phone (File 398), since Eri was just talking about a cat's cry.
What's more, there is a possibility that Conan may have also reacted to Eri's mention of "give him a good taste of his own medicine" & Ran's "Don't you think that the medicine is working too well?".
That is because it fits perfectly well with how Conan even recalled Haibara's warning of "not rushing things" and that "humans can never go against the stream of time" and that "if they forcibly try to change that they'll be punished" (File 191/380) (alluding to tampering with biological time/age manipulations and its consequences, as referenced even by Masumi in regards to the antidote's age correcting effect in File 1037). Because if what Haibara was referencing was how the Boss (over-100-year-old Karasuma Renya) forcibly tried to revert time on his body to a youthful state by "taking his own developed medicine" in a rush, and then it leading to that "the medicine worked to well" and shrank him into the age of a 7-year-old kid, it would directly coincide with those trigger words that Conan heard. If Conan was able to recall those intrinsic details from those lines, then it might be indicative of that Conan had previously speculated this far internally about Haibara's and Vermouth's words and later forgotten them as time passed (hence his confusion over his sudden recall),... that the BO are trying to "raise the boss from the dead against the stream of time" (fix his current state with a drug) after "getting punished from previously having forcibly gone against the stream time" (taking a drug that worked too well and got him stuck in an undesired state).
For more details on my BO research & goal theories, check my posts below:
As for why Vermouth ordered the completion of Itakura's software, I have written my theory about it in detail in the post below:
We also got to see the first meeting between Eri and Amuro, as well as Amuro giving a little hint of acknowledgement of Conan's hidden capabilities, but this time from the perspective of his newly acquired awareness of his true identity (File 1141).
I do wonder if this meeting and Eri's hunch about Amuro's true profession is gonna go somewhere, like for example her finding out that he is a Public Security officer as a result of them intertwining in a criminal case. Eri finding out and keeping his occupation hidden (just like Koumei) would be something in character and fitting for her, which I would also appreciate (especially if it leads to them working more honestly together in cases).
Ultimately, it was revealed by the end of the case (which was overall enjoyable, albeit simple and straightforward) that it was indeed Kuriyama (Eri's paralegal assistant) that Kogoro was secretly communicating with to get help in deciding Ran's birthday present ahead of time (File 1143).
I thought it was promising for Gosho to already tease Ran's birthday this soon (despite it being awhile away), since it's almost as if he is signaling the beginning of something major to transpire soon in association with the case that involves Ran's birthday. It could be something related to ShinRan's relationship, but it could also be related to some major main plot status quo change. Ran's birthday is something Gosho has had in mind for awhile (probably since the mention of Shinichi's birthday back in Movie 4), so it's gonna be very exciting to see what he has planned for such a monumental event.
Considering that we didn't further develop Conan's memory triggers in the resolution chapter, my current prediction for the upcoming case is that it will involve Conan further recalling and reinvestigating the Itakura software mystery (potentially after getting new leads). Gosho had recently teased in an interview related to the premiere of Movie 28 that the FBI & Camel (with his new appearance) will make a return in the manga soon, and considering the FBI's tight connection to Vermouth (who ordered the software), I could see there being some form collaboration between them and Conan partaining to Itakura's software in the horizon (leading to Conan's eventual deduction on what the software's purpose was).
As for what I predict Ran's birthday will bring us in the future, it would be that it will be a case that forces Shinichi to return for his romantic endeavors, only to then face off against Rum, who has been hunting him down (essentially being the Rum arc climax). I could then see Shinichi boldly revealing his deductions about what the BO has been up to with their software interest to Rum, leading to Rum fully acknowledging Shinichi as his enemy and attempting Shinichi's assassination with determination and then Shinichi officially being declared dead to the public, fooling all of his acquaintances as well as his enemies with a fake death stunt (except for Ran, and the people who know his true identity of course). This would fit well with why Gosho decided to tease both the resurrection of the Itakura software mystery and Ran's birthday in the same case (without any payoff on both fronts).

Hi Meitantei,
What is the role of kid in the prosperous rum's arc he is being giving a low blow from the latest appreances however the latest involvement of kurodo given me some anticipation but I guess that was just an Easter by Gosho,
Finally, I guess falcon elder arc is full of easters of Haneda kohji and Amanda Hughes giving a strong built-up about the potential of team Conan( shinichi, kurodo, wakasa, Akai his father's friend) against team rum, what to expect
Hi
I don't think Gosho intends to use Kid as significantly as he once did in the main plot. Rum arc is nearing its end, and while Kid and Conan has been semi-working together canonically recently (and the recent major reveal from M27 about their familial tie), It will likely not go progress into the actual Rum climax, but there is of course potential for him helping Shinichi in the Boss arc to a limited degree.

Hello, Master.
I've been thinking a lot about the surname Toyoda (豊田) lately, particularly in relation to two key lists in Detective Conan—the list from the Mermaid Island case and the list of APTX4869 victims. What's interesting is that this surname appears in both lists, which seems far from a coincidence.
Toyoda Toshiji (豊田敏二) was one of the "lucky" winners of the Jugon's Arrow lottery, alongside a rather suspiciously named Daikoku Rentarō. If I recall correctly, you once mentioned a connection between the name "Daikoku" and a building in the Tequila case.
Toyoda Minoru (豊田稔) is another name that stands out—his name appears right between Kudō Shinichi and Haneda Kōji on Haibara’s recollection of the APTX4869 victim list. That placement feels too deliberate to be a coincidence.
After rewatching the And Then There Were No Mermaids episode and checking through trivia sources like DCW and OP50, I noticed a few other names that stood out, such as Kōnosuke Kishida, Masaaki Nakatani, Chiezō Ebisu, Nobue Ōyama, Kimihide Nishio, and Na Doi.
Speaking of Na Doi, that name feels odd—"Na" doesn’t seem to have any real meaning. There’s a theory that it could be a scrambled form of Katsuki Doitō (Kaitō Kid), which, if true, would mean it has no real connection to the Black Organization.
Then there’s something Heiji mentioned—the list of Jugon's Arrow lottery winners from past years included many powerful figures from Japan’s political and business elite. That brings us to Katsuragi Yukiko, the woman who sent out the invitations to the island. She was born on Bikuni Island and is the daughter of a diplomat who was falsely accused of corruption 20 years ago.
I have a strong feeling that Bikuni Island will make a return in the story at some point. My personal theory? It may have once been a secret meeting place for Japan’s ruling elite. It’s remote enough to make sense, and the fact that police response times to the island are strangely delayed suggests it had some level of exclusivity in the past. Perhaps they abandoned it as the island became more infamous—first because of the 130-year-old woman legend, and later because of the mermaid skeleton discovery three years ago.
And another strange detail—both cases on the island involved a killer named Kimie. Coincidence? Maybe, maybe not. Even Heiji himself, during his debut case, remarked that Yukiko seemed almost "too perfect" as a character. I do believe she’s a good person, but something about her father’s side of the family feels off. After all, why would the daughter of a diplomat be born on a remote island instead of in a major city?
Anyway, I’d love to hear your thoughts on this! Thanks for reading, and have a great day! :>>>
This version flows naturally while keeping all the key details intact. It reads like an engaging discussion rather than a direct translation, making it feel more like a message from a native speaker. Let me know if you want any tweaks!

Hello
The Toyoda surname similarities are interesting. It would indeed be fitting and in-character for Gosho to be leaving future story crumbs with the two similar surnames for "Toshiji" from the mermaid island guestbook and "Minoru" from the APTX4869 victim list, similar to how he did with Haneda Shuukichi and "Haneda Kohji". However, unless there is a larger backstory behind it involving betrayal, it is weird that Toshiji, who seemed to be interested in longevity/immortality would have someone related to them (Minoru) get poisoned by APTX4869. Assuming that this Toshiji is a high-positioned person in society, as Heiji implied, it would be more likely that he would be a VIP that would get involved with/fund the Karasuma Group/Black Organization to complete their research related to aging-manipulation.

If that's the case, then it's almost as if the BO repaid whatever involvement Toshiji had with eliminating Minoru (someone potentially related to him). It would then beg the question what had happened... if Toshiji was betrayed by the BO or if Minoru was a thorn to both his relative and the BO. Regardless, it's an exciting idea to think about.
As for the Island being a hotspot for the elite powerhouses to gather, I could definitely see that being the case, however due to its supersitious nature and general theme partaining to every rich person's one major unattainable thing (unlimited time/life), I could see it also simply being a general popular spot where rich people happen to have visited for one reason or another.

I was so happy when I found your tumblr ^^ I started this year watching Meitantei Conan the Japanese version instead of the dubbed version, and I got to know the wonderful character Amuro, who hasn't appeared in the dubbed version yet T^T I haven't read the manga yet, and I really liked the reviews on your page. You mentioned in File 1134-1136 Review this "Gosho made a comment about in AC 2/12" I didn't understand what AC 2/12 meant ^^" What did Gosho say? And where can I read it?
Hello!
Always great to meet new fans of the series. Welcome to this dedicated loyal fanbase.
So, about "AC 2/12", this was short for "Animal Crossing hint" from "2 Dec". Gosho Aoyama, the author, plays the Animal Crossing game, and instead of giving updates and hints on social media to communicate with the fans, he tends to update the dialogue prompts of his game character figures every monday/holiday, so that when fans visit his island in the game, they can get small updates on what he has been up to OR straight up major main plot clues, what case to expect soon or tease a dialogue of one of the characters in upcoming cases. Fun stuff xD
So of course, us dedicated fans have made sure to collect all of his updates and share it online, and so during the time File 1134-1136 was getting released, we got AC hints where he wrote (source):
If you wanna keep up with the latest news and info dropped by the author, you can follow my amino community, where I repost all the relevant news and links to chapter releases.

(A follow-up to my previous Question) (1) Do you happen to remember the nature of this "Text Mail" thing they apparently use on Japanese cellphones? I think it was different from "tru email" and was a thing for as early as flip phones [tho I can totally see the Org use Regular Texting in earlier eras] (2) you mentioned "identify" the boss and it is such a great point, as for all we know, he had also shrunk into a child! :D
(1) I honestly don't know the exact details on how their mail address system works back then, but regardless, if it's simply equivalent to a number, then we can still expect a conventional calling to work.
(2) About the "Identify" part, although there is the whole "child of seven" theory, I was actually thinking in the lines of "Conan trying to figure out where/who the boss is amongst a crowd/number of suspects and then hears the call signal from amongst them.

Do you think Conan would send the Boss anything on Text Mail (?) when he finally makes a real move against him?
Yeah
I could see it happening during the larger climax of the series as a way to bait or identify the Boss in some bigger strategy. I don't think it will be addressed until then though.

Hello
You can find a list of all the movie comics here.
Now, if you are looking for a way to read them, I don't even know if they are available translated, so it might be hard unless you understand japanese. If you are trying to read them online, you'll have to search for the raw. I recommend you join the Detective Conan EN Discord Server. They have access to all materials.
Good luck.

Hi MTX, Happy New Year!
As we enter 2025, what are your looking forward to in the Detective Conan manga, anime and upcoming Movie 28?
Happy new year! ^.^
For Manga, I'm expecting a Rum climax, where Rum's Shinichi goal gets resolved before we fully move on to the final Boss arc. That should include a Tsutomu-Asaka flashback reveal.
For the anime, I'm expecting that we get the legendary Kohji case flashback adapted, especially since I've heard about the heavily spoilery opening TMS released recently related to that. This probably means they are already preparing the project for its adaptation, and I hope they make it a special.
For the movie, I already posted some initial thoughts on the teaser and theme here, but I would say we will get great Kansuke and Kogoro development that will probably trinkle its way ahead of time in the manga canon. It would however be nice if Gosho continued his track record of revealing major info in the movie, so maybe this time some cool Mouri family secret.

Assuming you already read the WPS flashback case, what to predict Amuro will do??? Are we finally going to know about the tea party?
I'm 99% sure he's not gonna tell the BO, however do you think he will confront Vermouth regarding this? He's aware how protective Vermouth is towards Ran and Conan and must be wondering why. (honestly, i just miss this duo and want another case with these two)
I actually hope sensei is starting a PSB arc. We already have a lot FBI related arc while none for PSB. Plus, the past recent manga chapters is mostly about WPS related people + Amuro so I hope we will get another Amuro focused arc.
Hi MTX, happy holidays!
What were your thoughts on the recent manga chapters (1134-1136)? And how do you think this plays into the future of the story?
Thoughts on the newest chapters? What do you think amuro will do?
File 1134-1136 Review
I really enjoyed this WPS-centric flashback case, and it's special, not only because we got a young shinichi meeting his future ally Rei, mirroring Ripples case (File 972-974) where he met Shuuichi, but also because it's our first WP-gang focused case within the manga of DC.
I really enjoyed how all their personalities came together with ShinRan, from Hagi's cute interaction with young Ran in the car, to Jinpei's banter with young Shinichi.
There were some fun comedic Matsuda moments and action scenes with Hagiwara that further highlights DC's old-school quirky personality in the writing.
I also appreciated the bromance scene with Rei acting protective over Hiro, despite not really needing to (which even Gosho made a comment about in AC 2/12).
But of course, the biggest moment from this case was how both Conan and Rei mutually recalled and remembered each other from that past case, and how it lead to Rei officially piecing together from Conan's telling slip-up that he's actually Kudo Shinichi, who he met 7 years ago.
Now, in regards to Vermouth, who he was revealed to have promised to not harm Conan and Ran (File 955), with this new realization, it is highly likely that he will piece together that Vermouth most likely knows Conan's true identity (especially if Vermouth makes ambiguous remarks that with this context hints to her awareness).
He could also make the connection that Chris Vineyard (Vermouth), an american actress, has ties to Shinichi's mother Kudo Yukiko, a fellow actress, and therefore might have personal relations conflicting with her BO mission. The biggest advantage Bourbon has over Vermouth now is that he can further exploit that weakness just by threatening her that he will expose Shinichi's whereabouts to their no.2, Rum, if she doesn't aid him in further disguise stunts he might need. Of course, that would only be a last resort measure (if the blackmail over her secret isn't enough), since if he were to openly admit that he has figured out Conan's identity to Vermouth, it would arouse Vermouth's suspicion over his loyalty to the BO, as well as risk Conan's safety if Vermouth happened to not actually know his true identity.
On the other hand, we have Rei's order from Falcon Elder (File 1115), who wants him to investigate Edogawa Conan. This new development will likely halt Furuya from giving Falcon Elder any forthcoming intel, since he has most likely already made a protective deal for Shinichi with the Kudo family during their late night tea party (File 1012), so I can see him forcing Falcon Elder to make newer, potentially hintful, moves to investigate Conan (similar to Rum when he instead ordered Vermouth after not getting anywhere with Bourbon in File 1060).

I think however that this development will be the major stepstone for Furuya finally figuring out Haibara's true identity and eventually having a proper meeting Elena's daughter (since he will now know that shrinking is possible), if anything, this is the most productive result we could get from this development.
Another potential development that could come from this is that with his knowledge of Vermouth's secret relationship with the Boss, if knowing about the existence of de-aging effects within the BO is something that could drastically alter his whole perspective on the secret and the gravity of it, then it could be something that further pushes him into the "Boss investigation" rabbit hole, but that's only if such a layered relationship truly exist (and if he has enough context to realize it).

Hello, do you have any theories on Movie 28?
youtube
I don't know how much information is out on the plot of Movie 28, since I don't want it spoiled, but based on the teaser video, drawn cover and title ("The One-Eyed Flashback"), I'm expecting some great developments for Kansuke and Kogoro.

Especially Kansuke, whose "X" scar has remained a mystery from a past accident during a case out in the avalanche. Kansuke is among my favorites, and his story hasn't had as much spotlight lately, so I couldn't have asked for anything better. I'm the most excited of what we are gonna find out from that incident that lead to his iconic scar. I do think however that the full scope of the case that lead to his scar is gonna be first revealed in the manga, and then the movie is gonna build on it (similar to how M25 built on the Matsuda flashback case).
As for Kogoro, they seem to be tying in a backstory from his police work days and trying to pull on our heartstrings that way, which is very much welcomed. Either way, we are due another Kogoro-centric movie, so I'm very much looking forward to whatever we get.
Kuroda, Furuya & Kazami are also guesting in this movie, which is always a treat. I could see us potentially also getting manga references through Rei (of for example being shown to already have figured things out about Conan).
All in all, I'm really excited and hopeful of this movie and I think it has potential to reach my top ranked.

Can I ask how you still think muga is rum while he knows Furuya true identity?
This is not something that hasn't happened before. When Vermouth identity was a mystery, she was hinted at finding out/knowing a lot near the climax (Haibara's whereabouts, Conan's identity etc.) and there was ultimately hidden personal motives that explained them. In this case with Muga, I have been suspecting since very early on a hidden familial connection between Muga and Rei, and I'm suspecting the way Gosho has been developing Muga with the NPA history angle (that is paralleling him with Rei) is further fueling that potential connection. I wrote about it here:
This could be the hidden motive that has halted any immediate action he otherwise would have taken against Rei (similarly to Vermouth with Sherry).

Hi! Just wanted to ask for clarification about the long-held theory of yours: If it really turns out that Momji's Butler is also a cover identity for Rum, were you expecting that Real Face Rum is around the same age range as Momji's Butler, and have a similar "slim, triangle-ish" facial structure even if it still might not completely be his real face, whereas the more square-jawed "Cigar-Smoking Man" (along with "Eyepatch Sushi Sous-chef Man") looks for Rum are STILL YET major disguises for the real guy, not just in terms of age but also in terms of Face Shape, meant to fool even his Black Org-loyal chauffeurs and assistants (as seen in his in-car apperances in present day [including the Black Submarine movie] and in the Young Kuroda flashback story)? I am rooting for your theory to come true because it would be so fascinating, but I've also been bamboozled for YEARS at the implication that Rum would wear an old man disguise even amongst "friends" in his Black Car. (Is that a Rolls Royce or something, btw?)
Hello ^^
Indeed, Muga's face would be his true face underneath the old man (Rum) face. The conclusion I've come to based on the new information regarding Rum is that the father whose codename he inherited (that he revealed to Amanda in File 1107) is actually the identity of the old man that Muga has been impersonating since at least 17 years back.
So in other words, the old man appearance is not simply a random disguise he created for himself, but an especially created one with Vermouth's help to impersonate his own father (who was the previous Rum that Amanda met when he was a kid 67 years ago during Renya's party). So, Muga needs to uphold that old man face around his colleagues and subordinates in order to remain in control and power as the "old head no.2 of the BO" (the reputation that his father has already built up), and he would basically be doing the reverse of Vermouth with her Chris cover (where she is an older woman impersonating as her own daughter). I think the name-drop of Rum's father is building towards this major twist, similarly to Vermouth.
It is indeed a Rolls Royce.

Hi MTX, big fan of yours.
My question is what do you think Momiji's role will be in the series going forward, now that the Osaka case has a conclusion to an event 25+ years in the making.
I think she will continue being that extended Kansai friend of Ran, who occasionally involves the Mouri or Heizuha in Kyoto-related cases, where she gets a chance to further demonstrate her deductive skills like Masumi. She is also the granddaughter of the Former prime minister Ōoka, who is most likely the mysterious Falcon Elder, which will get her involved through the flesh out of her powerful family and their role in the main plot, but more importantly, I think that Muga is gonna be the main focus moving forward, that elevates Momiji's purpose in the story as his anchor that is both his strength and weakness.

My prediction (as you know) is that he is gonna turn out to be Rum's true identity under the disguise, so as the main antagonist, Momiji will both serve as his plot-excuse for making frequent appearances in his true form, his connection to use for getting closer to other factions, and his humanizing element in the story (like ShinRan with Vermouth) that shows that he is capable of compassion (through their loving master/butler relationship) and that he is not just a cruel killer (like Gin).
Of course, I could also see Gosho also introducing a new romcom subplot with Momiji as well, but I think there is enough storylines surrounding her that is enough to give her a continued purpose in future appearances.
