I was told by my girlfriend (native Japanese speaker) that the 首を洗って待って (kubi wo aratte matte/wash your neck and wait for me) line sounds kind of flirty… but like in the BL seme sort of way hahaha.

Sorry for the late reply, anon! i've been busy with work! But yes, I did see it when it dropped. There was SO MUCH FOOD!

Key points from the Heartslabyul scene are:

Riddle bragging about Trey's handle of the crowd rush in the shop (Riddle brags about Trey in like, a lot in his lines in general) "With this level of crowding, it's only natural things will sell out. Trey is the vice housewarden of our very own Heartslabyul, after all."

"Even if this is a sale's event, it's interesting to see you as my opponent. I will take you up to the challenge."

“Well then… Riddle, it’s been a while since we've been mutually opposed. Sorry, but I won’t let you have these flowers.” ”... It’s not everyday that I can compete with Trey unless I get an opportunity like this.”

"When I return, I'll take the liberty of acquiring a victory. Go wash your neck and wait for me.*" *An archaic Japanese idiom that basically translates to "prepare to be beheaded." He's telling Trey to watch his back haha.

Remember when Riddle lost to Trey during the Bean's Day 2 event, too? Both then and this New Year's event, Riddle doesn't feel the slightest bit perturbed at losing to Trey. In fact, none of his usual pride comes out and there's actual joy in the moments he gets to stand by Trey as his equal and friend. Although it's subtle, you can tell the difference when Riddle softens himself around Trey during these moments as opposed to when he feels competitive and smug out of a sense of pride. It's very sweet! I'm really glad they wrote this into the event. BONUS: When Trey expressed his goals for working in Sam's shop, he says he needs the money to buy chestnuts for a marron tart! I'm sure everyone knows the significance of the marron tart to Trey, hehe.
