For anyone who ever said 70s #Fenders would never be cool (including me, when I was a very naive youth!), I give you “Wayne”, a heavily play-worn and patina-ed 1971 #Telecaster, owned by @colinjcripps. . Colin recently acquired the #guitar from its original owner, Wayne Mack, a Guelph (Ontario) based singer, song writer, entertainer, recording artist, and, according to his business card…comedian! I LOVE that on top of his music-related job titles, he also considered comedy as part of his act! Waune was just an old fashioned all-round entertainer…a quintuple threat! 😀 . Wayne Mack played this guitar..A LOT.. in the (apparently smokier than we though at the time!) bars and honky-tonks of Southern Ontario, Canada for the better part of the last 50 years, amassing an impressive amount of wear, checking, stickers, dents, dings, and an overall depth of character (i.e. nicotine damage! 😂) that you just can’t get on a guitar nowadays. He is now retired and passed the guitar along to Colin, who had great Toronto luthier and guitar tech @alastair_miller give it some TLC, and will now hopefully be able to keep Wayne’s live entertainment legacy alive for many more years as he takes it out to play with his regular bands @bluerodeoofficial and @kittythefool! . Mason Stoops’ wicked awesome Telecaster. Vintage Guyatone neck pickup, classic Tele bridge pickup. Tones of mojo, incredible tones. I want one. A friend just recently got a bunch of old pine from his grandmother’s house. 150+ years old, easily. Thinking about making a body of that old pine and making one of these incredible Teles.

Gorgeous small board with some of my favourite pedals :)

Made some changes to the board since the last post, and brought the board home from the practice space tonight for more changes.

I bought an H9 Max which has been amazing and I don’t see it going anywhere, in fact I’m adding an expression pedal just for further control. The Haymaker is practically always on; I just love what it does to my sound and gets me that edge of breakup clean sound that I can’t get enough of. The Black ‘65 is new and still finding its place. The RAT is just being a RAT and devouring everything.

The Strymons are awesome and the trem on the Flint is my favorite thing ever, to the point my band mates give me strange looks now because I turn it on for songs that don’t even need it. Playing around with the DIP switches on the SL Drive to find its place on the board, but for now the RAT is as dirty as I need things. Might use the SL as a cleaner boost if I can tweak it to do so.

Can’t wait to wire things back up and really excited about the expression on the H9, since I loved it with my Pitchfactor. Might look into getting a full size volume pedal as well :D

Epiphone Casino vs Gibson ES 330

Para los músicos o verdaderos seguidores de los Beatles, no es ningún secreto que Lennon usó una Epiphone Casino como guitarra principal algunos años antes de separarse el grupo, pero ¿porque una Epiphone y no el modelo equivalente de Gibson?, la verdad yo no lo sé pero para esa época hablar de Epiphone era nombrar una compañía neoyorquina fabricante de instrumentos de tanta calidad como los modelos Gibson de ese entonces, con mano de obra americana, motivo por el cual probablemente Gibson decidió absorver a su competencia y convertirla en la compañía de instrumentos de gama media a baja fabricadas en una planta China como es el día de hoy.

Haciendo una comparación a simple vista podemos ver que el hardware de las dos marcas es prácticamente el mismo a excepción de los botones de la maquinaria de las dos guitarras, el diseño de trapecio en Epiphone Casino contra la forma rectangular en los indicadores de los trastes de la Gibson ES 330, y el diseño de la pala de los modelos que es tan distintivo en cada uno. Por lo demás es prácticamente el mismo diseño.
