Younger brother came into my room and started playing me all these songs and going "okay but imagine Ekko and Jinx to this!" and for like an hour we were just like crying and thinking about the two and everything that could've been.

spreading my girlfail Felicia and cringe Vander propaganda + some Connol headcanons:
He’s a tattoo artist.
He’s kinda slow, super oblivious to Felicia’s flirting attempts.
Felicia calls him “Blossoms” because he has natural red/pink hair (Vi got it from him) but he just dyes it brown to avoid sticking out in the mines.

I really want to talk about what I believe this moment meant for Babette. I will do my best to stick with what we're certain of, but I will probably digress.
We know that Babette watched Jinx grow up. She saw Powder when she was just a little girl struggling to keep up with her sister and brothers, and then she saw her become Jinx with Silco.
When Vi spoke with her, Babette did not seem to hold any hope. A lot of people have pointed out that despite having the information, Babette did not tell Vi about Jinx. However, Vi specifically had asked her this: "Have you heard anything about Powder? I think Silco has her."
While Babette did not answer, she did look utterly heartbroken.
Tumblr media
From what we see, no one views Jinx as Powder anymore in the Lanes. That girl is gone. That girl, for all intents and purposes, is dead.
This is likely not the first time Babette has seen this happen.
Babette likely saw it happen with Silco first.
Babette likely saw a little boy become a young man with dreams only to watch him fall into darkness, never to claw his way out.
So when she hangs her head and mutters, "It's nothing" after Vi leaves, it's because she already knows the outcome.
She knows what to expect.
She knows not to hope.
But then, unlike Silco, Babette gets to see Jinx do good despite it all.
Tumblr media
I don't think she sees Powder here.
I think she sees she was wrong, that Jinx didn't succumb to darkness entirely.
I think she sees a piece of the determination that was in Silco's eyes as a young rebel.
I think she sees a piece of that drive to care for others that Vander had when watching over the Lanes.
And I think all at once for Babette, not everything is lost. Not Silco's dream, not Vander's hope, and not that little girl she once saw toddling after her siblings.

LISTEN.
I think about Silco embracing who we see in the show a LOT.
Honestly, like from what we see of him after the fact, it very much does seem like he embraces the fact that he is a dirty little thing and will only ever be seen as such by the people around him in like his actions and whatnot–like he owns being the snake in the shadows, he's got that aesthetic down to a science.
Because, hell, if the one guy who didn't see him like that at one point (someone so close to him, someone he trusted) suddenly shows his true colors, lashes out, and essentially just proves and reinstates that he's Pilt sewage trash, then who's to say that everyone else around him won't think the same?
However! At the same time, he does do things like covering his scar with makeup and he wears nice clothes with the gold trims and has that big ass coat that makes him look like a frilled-neck liazard - like to an extent he's still keeping up his appearances and whatnot, but at the same time he's embracing that yeah, maybe he is a dirty little thing. But like, those old habits obviously die hard.
Like every time his hair gets messed up, he puts it back into place!
Idk if I'm really making sense here but he definitely was just like "Fuck it, okay fine, I'll embrace what the world thinks of me" and also just continued to make do with what he had in order to keep up his appearances. Like it went hand in hand, almost. He definitely became what they fears but also in the meantime he had to make sure he looked good doing it.
Could've gone my whole life not knowing that they crafted Silco out to be this "dirty little thing" and the only one who didn't see him as that was Vander, but noooo.
They had to go out and put that on print with those fuckass pictures of them young and in love so that every now and then I'll remember that fact, about how Silco fought so hard to not be seen as some dirty thing and how Vander never saw him as being that until he did, and how damning that must've been for Silco to have the one motherfucker who saw you as something different, something beautiful even, try to put him down in filth.

Me in middle school: Wow, I love this animated action show where two men who used to be best friends eventually fell out and tried to kill each other, resulting in the one-eyed villain taking the other's daughter, assigning her a new identity and raising her as his own!

Ok so this post got me thinking about Zaundads and Jayvik parallels again
because who doesn't love a ship where the characters tried to brutally kill each other with their bare hands at least once?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also,, I'm just now noticing how Viktor's mask thing is cracked on the opposite side of where Silco's scar is and the crack is very much in the same shape. That's probably pure coincidence but STILL.
Also that look of fear Viktor has,, and also Silco's rat-ass face staring back at Vander when Vander first grabs him by the throat....yeah,,,
Anyways, people always love saying how Vi and Jinx parallel Vander and Silco, and they use that to "defend" their claims about Vanco/Zaundads being incest since they mirror actual siblings (which is ridiculous) but when you like ACTUALLY use your brain and think about it, Zaundads moreso parallel Jayvik than anything.
Some ramblings under the cut-
The argument for Vi and Jinx with Zaundads is all taken from those two scenes (you know the ones) that are so blatantly meant to parallel each other. But that's about where the similarities end.
Sure, they also go their separate ways despite being close at one point, but with the sisters, it wasn't by choice!! With Vi, how she reacted was an accident! It was an in-the-moment sort of thing, the mistake of a child who had just undergone a whole ordeal of trauma.
Meanwhile with Vander and Silco, Vander was out to kill Silco. Maybe on the bridge it was an in-the-moment reaction he had to Felicia and Connol's deaths but that man had a knife. He had a weapon he could have EASILY used to finish the job, and instead he chose to use his bare hands. Instead, he chose to violently drown Silco, and when Silco got away, Vander tried to do it again. He wasn't done. There was no quick realization of what he'd done like what Vi had when Jinx's nose started to bleed.
Then in the Cannery, it's not in the moment. They want to kill each other. I think that was pretty obvious, and for good reason too. Vander for self-defense, to protect his kids, Silco for revenge and maybe even some peace of mind, but I digress.
Then there's the split, which is arguably another parallel for the two of them. They go their separate ways, become enemies, yadada.
That happens with Jayvik too! And their separation more closely parallels Zaundad's one than the sister's.
With Jayvik and Zaundads, their wants and dreams conflicted with each other. They separated and went their own ways to pursue their own dreams once their shared visions didn't align with each other's anymore. On top of that, this separation happens after Viktor and Silco realize they can't trust their partner anymore. Vander because he tried to fucking kill Silco and Jayce because he broke his promise to Viktor and revived him with the Hexcore. Then when they cross paths again after that fall out, they try to kill each other (once more in the case of Zaundads, lol).
The only reason why Vi and Jinx diverted paths is because Vi was kidnapped, arrested, and taken into Stillwater! She was taken away from Jinx not by choice! The others chose to walk away from each other. Sure, Vi was leaving to go, but she was ready to go back the minute she saw Jinx in danger, but she couldn't. Their situations drew them apart, outside forces not within their control separated them, but they didn't leave each other by choice like Viktor and Jayce, and Silco and Vander.
Anyways, further parallels to the two pairs off the top of my head:
- Jayvik and Zaundads both started out having dreams of making their worlds a better place. - A breakage of trust and a divergence in those dreams causes them to separate - They try to kill each other on multiple occasions - After their paths diverge from each other, Silco/Viktor give Vander/Jayce a chance to join them on their "shared dream" once more - but they refuse - "In all timelines" - Jayvik always meeting and Zaundads being together in the AU, where everything is right in the world - Called each other "brothers" at one point - Viktor and Silco being all high and mighty about not having sentiments or anything, building walls around them - yet Viktor still has Jayce's blanket and Silco still has Vander's knife (plus the photo of him, Vander, and Felicia and the "Our Love" vinyl) - Jayce and Vander being major factors in Viktor and Silco's becoming of the monster that they are - their choices and broken promises leading Viktor and Silco down their paths and causing more problems along the way - Idk how to explain it but they just bring out the best and the worst out of each other - It's big hunk puppy dog x Zaunite twink shimmer user essentially
I'll never get over someone saying that Jayvik is Zaundads, but if Zaundads had chosen each other instead of their dreams.
I think about that every now and then and just burst into tears.
Jayvik broke the cycle. AU Zaundads broke that cycle too.
Idk,, just,, toxic doomed yaoi hits different. I get why people say that the sisters parallel Zaundads, yeah, I see it, but they share so much with Jayvik instead. That and I hate that it's used as an argument to why Zaundads is incest. :/ Like,, c'mon now.

Zaundads Hunger Games AU
Ah, fuck it. I haven't stopped thinking about it since finishing my yearly Hunger Games marathon, so have some thoughts:
Takes place during an earlier Hunger Games - maybe after Haymitch's or something - idk if when it takes place is honestly all that important though because I want to break the canon of the Games and have them somehow both win
Silco and Vander are from District 12 of course, being miners and all (they dug coal together) but don't really know know each other yet
They've maybe heard about or seen each other in passing here and there, but they weren't like friends or anything - on the other hand though, Vander and Felicia know each other and are like siblings
Silco's out on his own and has a burning hate for The Capitol and the Games, of course
During the Reaping, Silco's name is pulled from the boys' pool and Felicia's is pulled from the girls'
Of course, Vander immediately volunteers in her place - he's not really thinking and it doesn't hit him until he's up on that stage looking at the crowd - and of course, Felicia is devastated over this
Vander's trying to put up this front for Felicia's sake, but he's very clearly terrified - meanwhile Silco is just furious and has to be taken kicking and screaming and biting
Meet each other formally for the first time on the train - Vander's trying to like extend an olive branch, but Silco's not really taking it
Slowly though, Silco warms up to Vander and realizes that Vander is a very helpful ally to have in the Games due to his sheer size and strength
Despite the nature of the Games, Silco convinces himself that Vander would never hurt him and starts to see him as some kind of protector
They form an alliance and vow to watch each other's backs in the Games - their shared hatred of the Capitol helps them bond and they take every opportunity to express that hatred despite being at risk for Sponsors
The Games happen and they keep their promise to look out for each other - proving to be a formidable, deadly team
Maybe feelings develop from there, maybe they just increase - but their relationship dynamic would give them some Sponsors
Okay here's were the rest of the AU idea gets messy:
I straight up forgot my initial thoughts on how the rest of the AU would play out in terms of the whole betrayal on the bridge incident,,
BUT!
No worries, I just came up with other ideas.
Either I completely indulge myself and somehow both of them make it out of the Games, Katniss and Peeta style, and then end up having to go back into the games again, Catching Fire Quarter Quell style–so they both win but then have to suffer again and in the 2nd round of the Games, Vander snaps and goes after Silco.
OR.
Vander ends up killing Silco in the 1st round of Games, following the canon of there only being one Victor and lives with the guilt forever. He just loses it or something. Becomes the monster, blah, blah, blah.
OR.
The first idea where it follows the books (sorta) with Silco and Vander taking the roles of Katniss and Peeta, but instead of there being a Quarter Quell, they go back to live their lives and try to start their uprising only for it to backfire in their face, leading to Felicia's death and Vander snapping. In a way, Felicia becomes like Prim - was Reaped and momentarily saved, but the curse of the Games eventually catches up to her.
OR.
Some other fourth thing, idk. What do y'all think?
Lmao, or maybe Vander crashes out Coriolanus Snow style when his songbird flies away.
Feel free to add on or anything! I've just been on a bit of Hunger Games kick and I can't get the whole mocking jay/canary and setting of a revolution and the mines out of my head.
